I worked on this riding a friends horse who knows much more than I and is used to a heavier rider. It took us a while ,on a loose rein , to come to an agreement that she respond to my "sit" . I had to add weight by grasping the saddle horn slightly at the moment of the stop to lock myself into the seat of the saddle . She just wasnt quite sure if I was really ready. We eventually got it together but it shows how each horse and rider need to get that certain feel together. I had to add a bit of a cue without using rein , then once that came thru the "set" could remain feather light. Thx for this video. It sparked this cool learning memory . My mule stops dead when I ask cuz I'm his only rider. Someone else he may not read as well. What an amazing communication we can develop with these great creatures. Humbling.
I enjoy the way you share you knowledge. Thx

Perfect story to illustrate how sensitive these animals are. A little bit of the correct action and good timing go a long way.
