- The Lake is the newest model from Oru Kayaks, weighing in at only a scant 18 pounds (8.16kg).
The other kayaks in their lineup include the Inlet, Beach LT, Bay ST, Coast XT, & Haven TT.
These are collapsible, portable kayaks, which can store in your closet, in the trunk of your car, or carried on your back (in an optional carry bag), without the need to have a large place to store a regular kayak or roof racks for transporting one.
The Lake is meant for calm water lakes, and isn’t built for tracking in choppy waters. All of the Oru kayaks are made from hollow 5mm double-layered, durable, extruded corrugated OruPlast polypropylene material with a 10 year UV treatment. The origami design of these kayaks means the unit folds down into itself for compact storage, and folds out & straps together for easy assembly. The Lake+ option adds an adjustable seat backrest, a more comfortable seat cushion, and a suspended footrest for making those longer kayaking journeys a little more comfortable.

Super helpful watching you assemble and disassemble all the steps much slower than the Oru Kayaks website video- thank you!
Excellent! Your video was so much more informative that the one Oru supplied. Thank you so much!
Great video, this was much better then the Oru website.. thanks! Just noting part of your video the back of boat was cut off, but all’s good and still easy to figure out!
Oh no! We were so excited to see your Oru Lake Kayak video but the back of the boat is off camera. We are not gifted builders so we need all the help we can get :)
I have a few more recent kayaking videos with it in use. There's one strap on the inside , one on top, and one over the rear end for the back half of the kayak.
Thanks for watching. 😀
Awesome demonstration. Thanks!
Thanks for watching 😀
Hi great video thank you a lot more detail than the ones from the company . one thing the back strap connection was cut off in your video . are you able to post a picture of that?
Thank you ! IMO: I have read horrible horrible comments about their customer service and Q&A that I have always been hesitant to go near them. Perhaps they got it right this time but IMO something tells me you can't trust them ⁉
Mine went together easy. Putting it apart. Had to watch a video 😅
Anyone named Kat gets my attention. Lol 😆 Thanks for watching.
Ok so the floor board bends up to support the seat. Does that make a difference with supporting your back so you won’t fall backwards?
The seat straps to the side walls with two buckle straps. Then there's a strap behind the seat that pulls both walls together and makes that seat panel area nice and taut. You can rest your back on the seat back if need be.
My problem is with the seat height after I adjust it higher, it will lower down after sitting in it
