Building a Smart Home with MQTT: Two-Way Communication using Home Assistant and ESP32 (Part. 1)

- In this video, we explore the fascinating world of two-way communication using MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) between Home Assistant and an ESP32 microcontroller. With MQTT, we establish a seamless connection between the Home Assistant platform and the ESP32, allowing for real-time sensor data exchange and control.
Through a step-by-step demonstration, we showcase the entire workflow of setting up this powerful communication system. Without delving into the intricate details of MQTT, we focus on providing a practical guide to integrate the ESP32 with Home Assistant and leverage its capabilities for home automation and monitoring.
Throughout the video, you'll witness how easy it is to attach various sensors to the ESP32 microcontroller and observe the sensor data in real-time on Home Assistant's intuitive user interface. Whether it's temperature, humidity, motion, or any other type of sensor, the possibilities are endless.
Furthermore, we highlight the bidirectional nature of MQTT by showcasing how you can send specific commands or data from Home Assistant's dashboard directly to the ESP32. This opens up a world of possibilities for interactive automation, where you can control devices or trigger actions on the ESP32 remotely, right from the convenience of Home Assistant.
Join us on this exciting journey as we bridge the gap between Home Assistant and ESP32 using MQTT, and unlock the full potential of smart home automation and monitoring.

You have a good channel. Don't destroy it by using a fake voice. Yes you have a strong accent but we can still understand you and it ads character to your channel.
such a cool device that Im tempted to buy but shouldnt 😅Thanks for sharing man
Thank you share
it is possible to receive the video of an espcam on this display to use it as a video doorbell
It would be nice to connect ESP32-CAM and this device via WiFi. I already made it possible with WebSockets in one of my old ESP32-CAM projects.
I've always had a hard time following your videos (not a native english speaker myself and accents do not help) - the AI voice + proper subtitles are a blessing, thanks!
Sorry for that. It can be much better to watch the subtitles together by pressing the [CC] button.
I don't see the interest to handheld so many devices. We all have mobile phones and this must be what we must use. Developing other devices is loosing time only...
I hate to be “that guy “ but you’ve heard of ESPHome right? No MQTT needed. But LCD UIs are not as powerful.
Hmm - what if this is actually your real voice, and the other voice was AI. I don't know what to believe anymore :D
Of course, this is a voice created by AI. Also, some people prefer AI voices. It's hard to make everyone like my videos. Not sure but I'm thinking about whether to do it myself for the next project.
@@ThatProject ai voices make me turn off the video straight away, did that with this video
@@ThatProject I had an inherent dislike for ai generated voices. There is a lot of badly made videos copying others stuff with ai voices . When i hear that, that is what i immediately associate with . Your videos are awesome , i never felt your was doing it any harm. It was something that i used to associate with your videos . Ai voice feels strange and different.
@@ThatProject Just to add one more voice to the other two here, I agree with them it's really off-putting. It makes your channel look more like those with low-quality AI-generated content that are just there to make money from trash videos.
@@desmond-hawkins Thanks for your comment!
Hola, pense que tu canal te lo habia usurpado otra persona por el cambio en la voz, prefiero tu voz original, con tu acento original.
