To save water I steam blanch in my kettle fit with a basket. To cool I use frozen water bottles in a bowl of water. I do have a Foodsaver, but sometimes I just put in a freezer bag. A trick I seen someone do was to roll the bag to get the air out.
I have those glass dishes you used, but I recently had one fall on the floor and smashed in a million pieces and I had bare feet. Just lucky it didn’t hit my foot. So I’m going to plastic. 😊
Love your garden and house. I also choose the French stringless beans and stringless on peas as well. It is so nice to pull from our own grocery store and mix and match for soups and stews which I love to make.
This year I figured out how to grow celery🎉. Using grow bags and kiddie pool and fill bags only half way so the bag self blanches. They are big plants and we are in extreme drought in WI. And a big win to figure out I need shade fabric to grow radishes👏🏼👏🏼. Had great French Breakfast this year.
When I seen the close up of butter and then the sandwich, I thought, anything tastes great with butter😂 and good bread.
    Enjoy the summer.

    Bonjour Kevin, 🎉
Your garden is very prolific. Talk about having a 'green thumb'.....
you have two! When I had a family to feed, I also grew some veggies (no luck with celery, though).
But I grew green peppers, green beans, carrots, , and tomatoes. I learned how to blanch them. But didn't blanch potatoes or tomatoes.q The carrots (the ones I told you my kids thought they were snitching).
Your video brought back a lot of good memories. And the vegetables kept us in some very healthy meals all winter.
We also would pack a lunch take the kids to pick wild blueberries in nearby Algonquin Park, to freeze for winter baking.
    Ah! The good ol' days!!😊
Have a great week, Kevin. I'm going to try making that radish and basil sandwich. It looks so yummy and so easy!
    Cheers!

      Canadian here.
I'm a senior now but lived in Belgium with my family as a young girl. I loved it there.
My Dad was in the Canadian Air Force and was stationed at our Air Base in Marville France.
He'd drive to work from Belgium everyday.
On his days off work, we would go on road trips to many French and Belgium places to absorb the beauty of both places.
      I still miss it.

To get celery to be less strong flavor, you can wrap it around the sides with newspaper or anything about 2 weeks before harvest. I think it is called blanching. Evidently it is more like store bought celery. We were going to do it to our celery, but we ended up neglecting it due to our barn painting project. There is always next year !
