I'll try to explain how I've interpreted "the box":
Your consciousness, and with that your very identity, is what is trapped in the box, not the body. Revan's body is still outside the box, albeit either standing comatose or lying on the floor seemingly braindead.
The consciousness trapped in the box still has a link to their original host body. The Rakatan, being inside the box for thousands of years, no longer has that body because it died and decayed naturally over time, so his link is cut and he has nothing.

Because the box itself is several thousands of years old as well, it's functionality has partially deteriorated, and the Rakatan has become aware of this. It doesn't mean he can just leave, he needs a host body, and that host needs a connection to the box, meaning they opened the box. This is a step up from the original design of the box, which didn't allow any form of mind transferring. This might have been allowed by the box in the very beginning of it's construction, but was under safeguard by the owner. Now there's no owner and the box is deteriorating, the Rakatan prisoner can do it himself.
The Rakatan can only leave if he swaps places with another consciousness for their host body, but either because of some strong mental/spiritual connection between host and body that can only be broken by complete forfeit, or because of some gentlemanly gesture, he cannot take their body unless the original host agrees to forfeit it, meaning a competition of the mind is the best way the Rakatan can get it.

Several people have opened the box, but they're all lost consciousness/entities in the white void, having gone mad and wandered beyond the point of being found. The void is infinite. It's honestly a fate far worse than death and is pretty fucked up. The prison was supposed to be temporary for most I think, but the Infinite Empire fell and the box was forgotten. I presume nobody was able to speak the Rakatan language except Revan, so only Revan was able to or willing to engage in a competition for freedom.
I never played TOR, but I know that the Rakatan has an expanded story explaining how he was a great war leader who rebelled for leadership over the Infinite Empire and lost, that's his basic story.

The devs could've just made it a boring insta-kill for you being an idiot, lmao, but the fact they made this small environment and wrote all this dialogue just shows this games attention to detail and how amazing the devs were. It wasn't needed yet it SO appreciated! Helps with world building!

To this day, I feel like the mysterious box was meant to play a bigger role than just passing it on to a Hutt. I imagined it could've been used on Rakata Prime against The One, allowing him to be imprisoned & then failing the riddle test. Giving a perfect opportunity for the prisoner inside to be freed & punish The One all without having to wipe out all of his followers.

It wouldn't work, I doubt the Hutt can speak Rakatan, and Revan is probably the only one that can due to how he did it originally, so the Hutt would just be trapped inside cursing you and even if one of his cronies opened it, he wouldn't have the knowledge on how to escape. The best you'd get is his body not dead but each time you interact with it a little popup message would explain while the body is breathing the mind is not present or something like that.

so essentially you could live forever with this box , why was palpatine not all over this thing lol ....as long as you had "donor" bodies to transfer into , you could live forever , by transferring your old self in , and having a follower
"sacrifice" a young person to exchange bodies with leaving them in the prison with your old self image ...

    • @Tacid_Krios
      @Tacid_Krios Před 2 lety +2

Palpatine already had a method to "live forever", he had clone bodies and was able to use a force technique called Essence Transfer to put his soul/mind/essence/etc into a clone body.
This is both true for Legends (he's defeated by Luke in a big showdown, I believe it's Dark Empire) and the Disney fanfictions
He simply didn't need the box.
Though, what you've described could conceivably work for someone who isn't force sensitive.

If uh the rakata can get your character out of the prison, why can he get himself out? and he did say the prison seems less secure now than before. I'm not understanding this.

Your consciousness, and with that your very identity, is what is trapped in the box, not the body. Revan's body is still outside the box, albeit either standing comatose or lying on the floor seemingly braindead.
The consciousness trapped in the box still has a link to their original host body. The Rakatan, being inside the box for thousands of years, no longer has that body, so his link is cut and he has nothing.
This might have been allowed by the box, but was under safeguard by the owner. Now there's no owner and the box is deteriorating, the Rakatan prisoner can do it himself.
The Rakatan can only leave if he swaps places with another consciousness for their host body, but either because of some strong connection between host and body that can only be broken by complete forfeit, or because of some gentlemanly gesture, he cannot take their body unless the original host agrees to forfeit it, meaning a competition of the mind is the best way the Rakatan can get it.
Several people have opened the box, but they're all lost consciousness/entities in the white void, having gone mad. It's honestly a fate far worse than death and is pretty fucked up. The prison was supposed to be temporary, but the Infinite Empire fell and the box was forgotten. I pressume nobody was able to speak the Rakatan language except Revan, so only Revan was able to or willing to engage in a competition for freedom.
      Hope that answers your question.

When you ask what's in the box? BRAD PITT should appear out of nowhere lol.
edit: You open the Box: Morpheus Appears before you, THIS is the construct, it's our loading program.
You have been playing a video game Padawan, a computer simulation of a galaxy far far away a long time ago.
edit: HOLY SHIT! The Box IS literally the Matrix! a Prison without walls, without taste sound or smell for the mind??? That IS the matrix! I swear I have never watched this before...

Can you voice the aliens please, I couldn't hardly read what was said and the video was not very informative because of this.

    That would be awesome.
