I like the diffused side better, which eliminates frizz and creates more volume. Your hair looks amazing both ways... like a beachy Mermaid. 😊

I am an air dry girl, purely for time reasons. I can go about my day as it dries, whereas if I diffused it that would be 30-40 minutes of my day which would mean getting up earlier to include the diffusing time, and I don't think I can do that as I already get up at 5am!!! I am happy air drying and I am so pleased you did a video on it. I would love to see a full air dry routine for sure. Thanks for sharing.

I diffuse my hair most of the time, but don't mind air drying sometimes. Because it takes longer to dry in winter time, its best to diffuse then. In the summertime its also good to let it naturally dry, because it takes less longer to dry. A good tip if you shower in the evening and style your hair then. If you use gel, put your hair up in a silk bonnet, and scrunch out the gel cast in the morning. The gel will also keep the curls in place over night, for you when you scrunch it out in the morning! 🥰

I really like the air dried side of your beautiful hair. The curls may not be as big but I noticed the smaller curls go up all the way to your scalp giving it a much more natural look. Anyone can curl their hair but natural curls are the absolute best! I have long thick hair so use both methods depending on time and how I feel. Feel blessed to have naturally curly hair!! 🥰

I do a bit of both tbh. I set the gel, dry the roots and some of the slower drying 'middle' bits, then let the length air dry if I can. I finish it off with the diffuser. This gives me the best results, oddly enough! 😊

I typically prefer to diffuse as my hair is a little more wavy and I can get a little more definition when I diffuse. Also, I tend to touch my hair a lot more when I air dry. Your hair is so beautiful either way.

I loved the side by side comparison. I always air dry and it takes HOURS (probably 3-4 hrs) for my hair to dry. Maybe I should diffuse my hair instead😜

First time using the curlsmith with thin wavy hair. Attempted the drying the roots at a low setting and it gave me fuzzy hair at top. Product may have weight down hair too. Will have to see the end result once it’s dry. I have air dried before but not with a leave in conditioner.

I usually wash in the morning when working from home.
I'll diffuse for as long as I can and just leave my hair be (it will air dry the rest of the way while I'm working). If I have something to do after my workday is done, I'll SOTC; if not I'll leave the gel cast on as it will break by itself overnight.
My current favourite styling combo is the Featherlight Protein Cream with the Curl Retainer + Flawless Finish Strong Hold once dried.

Always diffuse. My hair is fine with medium density so it actually takes me about 15 minutes to diffuse then I let the rest air dry as I do my makeup.

Hello, could you make a video on tips for how to diffuse extremely long curly hair? I have hair past my bottom & I always have the problem of my ends drying out & getting frizzy first before my roots get dried. I’m just not sure how to make sure my roots get dried w/o my ends drying too fast while still being able to get the volume at the roots from the diffuser. Thanks!!

Your hair sounds really long! To make it more manageable I would get a good trim. Then if you haven't got any layers in your hair get some layers if you want more volume and bounce! Every 6 months is good to get a haircut, and getting your ends lightly trimmed should improve hair growth and make it look more healthy. I don't know if you diffuse or straighten your hair, but that could also leave your hair dry and frizzy. Let me know if this helps, or if you will consider it x

Not necessarily! I did a budget friendly wash day with a cheap diffuser - have also shared a travel one in my travel curls video. They take slightly longer to dry and the results are a bit different but it’s whatever suits your budget.

No, I used a cheap 20 something dollar one for years.. I got really great results, better than air drying, however I’ve recently did get the defrizzion and it is so worth it. The hair dries more evenly and much faster. It’s definitely worth it if you can afford to get it.

My curls have always come out extremely frizzy after using any type of hair dryer. I spent a lot of years just air drying because it was less frizzy and more definition. Inspired by watching your videos I got excited and purchased a diffuser thinking I was just doing it wrong. After doing my wash day routine I tried the diffuser, gently putting my hair into the bowl, bring up to head and turn on low with medium heat and holding for about 10-15 seconds and shutting it off to release the hair and move to the next section. It took awhile and the end result was very frizzy hair. I re-wet my entire head and just scrunched out the excess water with a micro fiber towel and let air dry. I have no idea what I am doing wrong and if I am just doomed to air dry forever to keep the frizz at bay. Any advise to help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently bought a fancy diffuser dryer and noticing my hair has slowly got frizzier over time. I'm the same as you I think my hair is just better air drying. It's a shame as diffusing does give different results, plus it's winter here in NZ and it's not fun with wet hair currently. Still working out curly routine for winter!
