Broken Top: Summer Summit

On August 1st, Christian, Carlos and I climbed Broken Top via the standard route up the NW ridge. We soloed the route (5.0) and finished the day with a lake party at green lakes. Overall this was an awesome climb and a great day

Hey man, awesome video!! how'd the downclimb compare to Thielsen? Were there rap rings up there? Thanks!

Thanks! The down climb was only really tricky for that one 10 foot section. Id say a slight step up from Thielsen, but for just a shorter bit, and there is a ledge right below, so personally I don't feel its too exposed. There is a rap station at the summit and with a 60 M rope you can rap down the face and all the to the base of the rock band, but there is also typically a station right above the crux.

Awesome summit! I’m heading out there soon. Do you all rock climb? I’ve only climbed in a gym and want to do this summit but I’m a little timid to climb with that much exposure.

yea, the crux is rated 5.0, not too hard if you are comfortable on rock. Some people choose to rope up and set protection, and there is a rap station right above the crux crack. after the 10-15 foot crack its all very easy scrambling after that, just pretty exposed in places.
