never heard of ron elliot! Thanks for the video and sharing music with us!
Red Krayola ❤❤ #1 from a Texan here!
Nice original pressings. Love same kind of music. Anything Psych is what I love. Great Video….
Thanks Jim. I just looked at your old videos, and they were really old, but they were showing all of the same type albums as these Acid Archives Diaries. - Chris
Chris, I dig that ''Joyride'' album art, it reminds me of Jefferson Airplane's '' After Bathing At Baxters'', also on the RCA label, same cover- designer? The Red Krayola performed live with John Fahey, don't know if it was released officially, I would love to hear that, in any format! Ron Elliott is a new discovery, thanks for including ''The Candlestick Maker'' with extra wax.
Michael, good observation on the Joyride artwork. I can see it. Drag City put out a 2CD version of Red Crayola Live with John Fahey. I will see if I can work a sample of it in the next video.
@@christopherkibler511 Wow, Drag City strikes again, thanks.
I love that Red Crayola LP. Great video.
Me too.
Thanks, and you probably have the original! I saw that you posted a much better video about Them for this thread.
@@christopherkibler511 I do have the first two Red Kraylo's on international artists.. I prefer the first one, the one you showed.
Wow, amazing you have the Holden on Hobbit. Most certainly it is in the Archives, as I believe everything you showed is from those lists. Though I don't have the book in front of me at the moment to verify. The Friendsound LP is an absolute favorite. I love the use of music concrete and field recordings in it. Nice stuff Chris! added to the playlist
Thanks Dom. The Randy Holden was a very early bargain bin find that I got because I recognized the name from Blue Cheer. I hope someone does proper videos about these albums.
Nice selection - the Ron Elliott is new for me - thanks
Calm Before the Rising Storm was interesting Chris. This is a perfect thread for you. So many had to do Don’t Look Back. Fun to see this part of your collection.
Thanks Steve. Yes, It does give me the opportunity to pull out something different, if I have any.
There’s a fascinating write up of Ron Elliott on Spotify, well worth reading! One advantage of Spotify!
Thanks Roy.
Fascinating albums, again. I enjoyed the clips. I feel like I should get some Red Crayola, especially since I keep hearing about them.
Thanks Brian. I forgot to mention that they, like the 13th Floor Elevators, started on the Texas label International Artists. This Red Crayola album was the second release on the label.
@@christopherkibler511--a Wiki history of the Red Krayola (originally spelled Crayola until the crayon manufacturer forced them to change it.)😊🎵✌️
Love that Friendsound album. My copy is a 2009 reissue.
Thanks. I didn't know they had reissued it.
All gems Chris. Now is that album by the The Rising Storm a covers album? I think it is a very tough album to find is it not? Well done all around~
Rob/Boston
Hey Rob. There is one track credited to the Rising Storm, "I'm Coming Home", and all the rest seem to be covers. The original album of 500 copies is very expensive on Discogs! Thanks.
Five songs from the Rising Storm's LP "Calm Before" were band originals--"Frozen Laughter" was written by Tony Thompson, "To L.N. (Who Doesn't Know)" Bob Cohan, "The Rain Falls Down" Rich Weinberg, "I'm Coming Home" was by the entire band, and "She Loved Me" was by Thompson/Cohan. Those five songs, plus the covers of songs by Boston area bands the Remains and the Rockin' Ramrods, and one by Love make this rare Remnant LP worth owning ... if you want to pay $5,000!! (Since released in the 80's on Eva (bootleg) out of France and by Sundazed in the last decade.) 🎵👍✌️.
@@bruceross5546 Thanks for the info Bruce~
They just put out another reissue of it a couple of years ago. Original is very hard to find.
Singer Songwriters that don’t suck is a great name for a top ten list.
been intrigued by friendsound a few times before, maybe just not quite weird enough for me but a cool record. quite a rarity there at the end. I'll join this thread soon.
Thanks Alex. The Paul Revere & the Raiders connection was about all the excuse I needed to get Friendsound.
Hello interesting album, shall try this Joyride album. Title stolen later by swedish topstars Roxette, Randy Holden is great. Red Crayola I didnt understand.....
Thanks. Some of Red Crayola’s music is pretty chaotic.
Friend Sound was excellent. I'd like to hear that whole album. You think Ron Elliott had a drop of wax added to each one of his album covers? That's a great idea for an album with that title. Thanks for showing the records Chris!
Randy, I hope not because I just scraped the wax off.
@@christopherkibler511 lol
Coolness Chris, really liked Krayola …liked em all but Joyride caught my ear and candlestick maker,
You know I thought you would do the ABCs of Prog albums, started by Bill at the vinyleverse…cheers Chris✌🏻
Hey Lis. The ABCs of Prog sounds like a good idea. I will check into it.
@@christopherkibler511 Tim at highnoon vinyl just posted last night, I like the way he got down to it!! Also told other things. That had to do wthe thread! Look forward to seeing yours Chris 👏🏻👏🏻✊🏻🎶
💯👍
Chris, way to move fast on this... l'm still trying to find a way to access a list of the albums... l've been seeing that Joyride in the bins for forty years and always just flip by it... now l want to hear the whole thing.
Sherv, my digital copy allows me to scroll through one letter at a time. I have not found an index, that would be too easy. I don’t recall seeing Joyride in the bins, but I would see the two Brotherhood albums.
Is that Randy Holden lp an original? If so, kudos. ✌ ☮ 🕊
