- In this video we start a very large kit called Atlas Gorge from Fosscalemodels. We will cover lots of techniques for beginners and advanced modelers. I also show you how to use new wood stains from Besttrains.com. Hope you enjoy the video and happy modeling everyone!!!
Great job! Thank You. Best regards from France
Thank you so much!!!
Amazing job on that kit Jason !!!
I Understand for the sake of time and effort, but chuckle when you said at 15:55 "As you can see, I've got quite a bit done". You get more done before most of us get up in the morning, more less all day. Great work and video. Thank You.
Thank you so much Lynn, always appreciate hearing from you!!!
They're a lot of work but big buildings are so impressive when they're finished. Another quality build.
Thank you Davie!!! It was a lot of work, for sure. Thanks for watching!!!
I like old wooden houses. There's life in there. Not only do you know how to build them perfectly, but you are also excellent at explaining things, even for a German like me.
Thank you so much for watching, I really appreciate it!!!
WOW!!! Just breath taking video and what a huge beautiful build. How you find all the paint and stain materials is so unbelievable how you do it. Been watching other build videos waiting for one from you and they are all good videos but do not come close the the high quality instructional details of your videos. Once again and I feel I am speaking for all who watch your videos a Hugh massive THANK YOU for sharing your gifted abilities and your talents with us. Jason you are the CZcams King. Thanks again and be safe!!!!
Thank you so much Johnny, I really appreciate the kind words!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Awesome build, you did a fantastic job on it. Well worth the hours you put into it. I also like the music you use in the videos. Thank you for sharing this wonderful build !!!!!
Thank you so much Steve, I really appreciate it!!!
OSHA would not approve of the deck lifted decking LOL! Great video and tips/techniques/tutorial!. I did sign up for FOSScales btw and looking forward to checking their kits out.
Jason another fantastic build. You are a master craftsman of these great kits. And too your scratch/bashing. Thanks for another great post.
Thank you so much John, always great to hear from you!!!
Nice paint job! Yours look much better than the pictures
Thank you!!!
Hi Jason can't wait to see the whole diarama, look forward to all your videos😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much!!!
Jason, you make me think that I could *actually* do this! VERY appreciative of your other vids. That said, I'd love to see the work space; maybe a 2 minute tour of lighting, tools, equipment, how things are laid out, etc?
Great suggestion! I lol try to cover that in a upcoming video. Thanks for watching!!!
Wow! I'll be watching this one over and over, Jason. Your technique is inspired and you can tell you love to do it. Thank you for sharing your gift.
Thank you so much Jim!!!
Another masterpiece, Jason! You make it look so easy, but all the hours tell the story! Learned several lessons here; thank you for letting us share your journey!
Thank you so much Pat and thanks for always watching!!!
thank you for the great super detailed video
Your welcome Robert!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Another fun and fantastic build. Great advice about taking your time and enjoying the process. I rusted 80+ pieces of KC Corrugated roof paper yesterday with 5 different colors and a number of sponges, and it takes quite a while and a light touch to get it looking right, but it's becomes meditative and quite fun to see the results falling into place. The details make the build, from signs to the sharp #2 pencil for nail holes. Thanks again! - Paul
Thank you so very much Paul!!! I truly love this hobby and I love sharing it with others! Happy modeling!!! 👍
You sure make it tempting to try one of Foss' kits. I don't really have the ability to take my time. Maybe when I get older. One would think being in your 70's would be old enough. 🤠🤠
Lol, give one a try. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks for watching!!!
The building looks so real , it looked like you were handling a real building . my mind had to think about what i was watching ! . really nice Craftsmanship .
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!!
YEAH!!! I'm so excited to this kit go together.
Just amazing!
I really like your work Jason. It seems so many people use airbrushes these days, it’s so refreshing to see traditional brush and sponge techniques. As usual your work is exemplary. Greetings from across the pond
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!!
Fantastic piece of work, love the different rundown textures and the rusty door, the final result reminds me of those classic creapy old haunted buildings you see in something like a Tim Burton movie. Absolutely fabulous Jason, as always thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Alex!!! I absolutely love everything Tim Burton does. Thanks for watching buddy!!!
Great work you done, very fine. Thank You.
fabulous! thanks for sharing!
You make my want to go back to HO! Wow! These are great kits.... BUt the build is first class. Love the weathering.
Thank you so much!!! It was great hearing from you and thanks again for the great suggestion!!!
hello Jason. It has become incredibly beautiful again. I especially liked the roof. You are the master of model building houses. Greetings Tino
Thank you so much, I always appreciate hearing from you!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Another incredible build, Jason. Somehow, I get the feeling that it didn't take much longer to build this than your video shows. You flew on this one.
Thank you so much Greg!!! I had so much fun building this!
That is surely a beautifully detailed kit, but your outstanding work takes it to another level entirely!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!!

It looks far better than on the pictures. Really great build. Greets from the Netherlands. And I am looking forward to see the remaining buildings taking shape and Colorado under your hands.

Beautiful, the weathering is impressive. Congratulations.
Thank you so much!!!
'starship filth' would be a super kickass band name...
Great job ! So much detail ! You pulled it off ! Bob Page
Thank you so much Bob, I really appreciate it!!!
An exceptional kit, brought to life with your excellent skillset Jason, looks totally amazing. Pity we don't get these types of kits in UK, enjoy these uploads, very informative. All the best, take care. Brian @ The Angels
Thank you so much Brian, I really appreciate it!!! Happy modeling!
Awesome work Jason. Instructional
Along the way as always, no rushing when “ how to or next step”.

Amazing detailing job Jason!! 🏆🚂
Thank you!!!
Great job on the kit AND the video.
Thank you!!!
Fantastic build and fantastic video.. keep up the great work.
Thank you so much!!!
Impressive work Jason, I pondered getting this kit but passed on it, now after seeing your effort, I regret that, lol. Looking forward to the next building. Cheers Rob
Thank you so much Rob!!! Don’t miss out on next years big kit!
Amazing build Jason! I never understand why companies do this Limited Edition, one time only, stuff. If it a great model or whatever and everyone who's interested wants one. Why not just keep it in inventory so all can enjoy.
Great job, your finished model looks outstanding 👍
Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate it and thanks for watching!!
Awesome!
Thank you so much Martin!!!
@@JasonJensenTrains u are welcome!
Jason, Thank you again.
A ruely amazing job. an exceptionally educational video.
It really inspires me to try and improve the finish of my models, and your detailed explanation really helps.
All the best, and stay safe.
Michael
Thank you so much Michael, I really appreciate the kind words!!!
Haha! I totally was just dipping my strip wood into my Best Trains wash bottles last week! Guess we’re on the same page haha. Thanks for another great video my dude.
Thanks for watching Dominic!!! Great minds think alike!
Absolutely gorgeous build bro!!
Thanks buddy I really appreciate it!!!!
Great build, A hint on the corners of the roof, Cut squares shingles and bend each one over the corner, cover half the shingle as you go up. That's how we do roofs.
Thank you and thanks for the tip! I wish I would have done it that way. O well, next time. Thanks for watching!!!
@@JasonJensenTrains I haven't done it on a model, only on the real things. LOL
Cool stuff
Thank you!!!
FOS scale should sell that loading dock as a detail part. Would also be neat if they offered some of the side buildings/lean-to’s as a little add-on kits.
Sorry for auto correction messing up my text. Colorado must be Color ofcourse.
Fos makes such beautiful models and you assemble them superbly. It’s heartbreaking, though, to realize that most of the kits you build are no longer available. I just want to build this model - and I can’t buy it.
I completely agree. They have so many incredible kits to choose from! Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it!
Cool.
Greetings ARCHBAHN
👍👍👍
Another great Video. missed out on the kit due to fighting covid. Its ashame that you had to have all the adds.
Thank you so much Jim!!! The pennies from the adds keep the lights on, LOL!
Thanks for watching Jim I always appreciate it!!!
That building is so cool....to bad they don't make N scale kits. As always have a couple of questions, What did you use on the stains at the bottoms of the windows? If the vents are two pieces to put together did you sand out the seam or just painting them do the trick. I am glad you talked about other videos you have done on details and rusting
thanks for sparking our interest!
Thank you so much Will!!! Always great to hear from you. I filed or sanded the seems. Doesn’t take much. Then just painted and weathered. Thanks for watching buddy!!!
That is an amazing structure. May be too large for most layouts but a great diorama build. How would you go about painting it red like FOS's box art? I like the faded paint look more than the stained wood look..
After you stain it you could sponge on a red color to give it a peeled paint look. Thanks for watching!!!
Great job love your videos but for us newbies that like to work along with your videos can you list the colors you use in the description so we can get them beforehand
Hi Jason, i like the things you do. Lots of greetings from Franconia! Manfred
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!!
Nice!!! Jason, what camera equipment do you use and do you use a monitor with your camera? Thanks. Hope to start making some videos some day. You rock!!!
Excellent!
Which Fos kit do you recommend as the first one to build when first starting out with craftsman kits?
I really like Carter Hardware! I think it’s a great first kit! Thanks for watching!!!
Stuff like this is why I went for Z scale!
Some day I would love to build a small Z scale layout! Thanks for watching!!!
Great job! Those laser cut windows give me anxiety. Do you have a video showing their assembly?
Thank you!!! Some day I’ll do a video on assembling laser cut windows. Thanks for watching!!!
Any recommendations for where I could buy cast metal parts? I’m mainly looking for general scrap, oil drums, auto parts, etc
Looks awesome Jason. What are the paints you're using that looks like liquor bottles? Vetero?
They are from Besttrains.com they are a alcohol based stain. Thanks for watching!!!
@@JasonJensenTrains I'll check it out! I like your dip stain method.
Jason Jenson video: first click like. Add to favorites and then watch the video! 😉
Thank you!!!
Wish they do N scale model kits too....
You mentioned that you’re using a straight edge razor, actually it’s a single edge razor blade. New hobbyists might be confused if they were ask for it or order it.
Thanks for the clarification and thanks for watching!!!
I'm not seeing this kit on FOS's website. Is it no longer produced?
It is from Atlas Gorge which was a limited edition kit that sold out.
What scale are these kits normally?
HO scale
Do u have a video on prater bldg
FIRST!
Looking for the prater carpentry video
Buena tarde me puede decir la escala de sus trabajos muchas gracias
COST ???????????????????????????????
Fosscalemodels.com
Great modelling, lovely kit, but for a cartographer why all the vents and heavy industrial gubbins attached to the outer wall. A bit much for what is effectively a printer of maps don't you think?
I must admit I was wondering that too?
Thank you David!! I think it all just looks cool. For me it doesn’t always have to make sense. Being an artist I tend to go more for the overall look or feel rather then realism. Thanks for watching!!!
@@JasonJensenTrains Jason, I like your thinking. It sure is "cool", no doubt about that
Gr8 model kit, but tbh $375 for a card kit i think is maybe a bit much, but anyway jason it looks really good🙂
It’s not a “card” kit.
As the video shows it’s a very detailed kit and it also has 5 other structures in the kit. In my opinion a great value for 6 unique structures that are very detailed. Thanks for watching Graham, I really appreciate it!!!
A week later, they’re sold out lol
All their stuff is prohibitively expensive.
Please ask your wife to buy you some new jeans, bro! SHIT....
Lol, she also does not like my work jeans. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it!!!
You should show every step of the building process. It's disappointing when you skip parts.
Ok, well thanks for watching, I really appreciate it!!!
