Bevisode with Mayim’s Mom! Mayim’s Mantra & The Gravity of Gratitude

- čas přidán 1. 06. 2024
- Bev breaks down previous episodes in our fifth Bevisode installment! This week, Bev reacts to a hefty slot of episodes including: Jackson Galaxy’s guardrails and involution, reinventing yourself creatively like Melissa Bernstein, and all things aging with Dr. Small. She considers Rabbi Steve Leder’s stance on decluttering and sanctification of the mundane, Dr. Jenny Taitz’ approach to Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and empathizes with Steve Hassan. Bev responds to Kelly Clarkson and Hunter McGrady’s mantras and writes her own mantra for Mayim. She relates to Moshe Kasher’s childhood, reveals her love language like Oliver Hudson, and shares the compassion she feels for Jennette McCurdy’s experience as a child star.

One of my favorite things about Bevisodes is how respectful and kind Jonathan is toward Bev. He really validates her opinions and genuinely wants to hear what she has to say.
Bev needs her own podcast.
Can't get enough of her 💜
It is so great that you have your mother in today's podcast Mayim, she is amazing. This was a wonderful podcast!
She's my favorite
Idk if you noticed I had stopped commenting, but I went through a lot. I left a bad relationship, started college at 25, and got my first ever apartment by myself. You and this show was a massive influence in deciding I deserve better so thank you
I started college last year at 23, you got this ❤
I wish you well.
Never too late! Good for you! Super inspiring. A lot has happened to me too but girl, all we got is time. So do with it what you want. Be happy and free!
I went to college in my 50's at night after I raised my children. I really am glad I did, it's never too late, many people go much later. I think sometimes 18 or 19 is too young. So glad for all your change, you are growing!
I love the podcast in general - but I think the 'Bevisodes' really bring an interesting aspect to things. I enjoy hearing the things that Bev picks up from a given guest. Sometimes she picks up on things that I might not have given much thought to. Keep up the good work!!
These are my favorite
I love Bev! I love Mayim and Jonathan! Thanks for doing these! Xoxoxo
I agree! I really enjoy you Mayim and Jonathan and Bev adds something extra special to the episodes...an interesting look at things, your sense of humour, and I'm not sure how else to describe it but a sense of comfort too. Thank you!
I just love your mom, and sometimes wish mine was like her. So very glad you have these segments that include her into your off screen life! I can't imagine how hard it was for her to grow up in a two language household. I was so quiet that it was almost like I wasn't in existence, and still tend to be happy alone.
Thank you for sharing with us a little personally and for supporting us as well. We each have our own unique experiences don't we? Grateful for the opportunities where we can recognize similarities and connect!
We need another Bevisode!
I’m totally stealing Beverly’s mantra for Mayim! 🤣
“Let me be!”
I like that mantra. I like to say that to myself in the mirror every morning.
Miss Mayim treats her mom as her friend and it shows.
Happy birthday Mom!!!
I shed a few tears. This is so good start to finish. I admire the honesty and respect shown by all. So much wisdom here. I hope my relationships with my daughters grow into something so comfortable and open. Thank you for the great example
36 min is never enough of Bev! I love watching the dynamics between you three.
Jonathan is so respectful and genuinely interested to learn from your brilliant and honest mom. He’s a keeper Mayim.
He’s a keeper too!
I was wondering when Mayim's mom Bev would be on again to be interviewed. I love most of the podcasts but I watch via CZcams so I am watching and not listening.
I also really enjoy the banter between Mayim and Jonathan.
Blessings, love and prayers, from Israel 🇮🇱
These are the best. When i see that this good practical philosopher is gonna be on, gotta sing. "In my own guesstimation, the sun is gonna surely shine."
This was an absolutely delightful "bevisode". Loved the wrap up of recent past episodes. It was especially lovely to see you all laughing together. And for the first time I really could see a physical resemblance of Mayim to her mom.
Thank you, Pat!
I'm still chuckling as I'm writing this...enmeshment. Bevisodes are my favorite! BTW, watched Jeopardy last night. Mayim is great!
I miss Bev, she is amazing, I just LOVE IT. Thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
Okay Bev, imma borrow that mantra if you don’t mind:
I am whole.
I am enough.
I am the world.
Let me be.
DAMN RIGHT. COME ON MAYIM WE CAN DO THIS!!!!
Bevisodes are the best! I've watched all of them 3 times . She is fascinating. ❣
Yay, Bev is back! We love Bev! I wish we all could be so candid and open with our moms. I too resonate with the depth and beauty of our Jewish tradition and all it's expressions. I just love all your quests so very much and thank you Mayim for enriching our lives so impactfully. You truly are a mench!
Wow... This is my very first Bevisode & I'm SO thankful I watched it! Thank you, all!!! As Bev mentions in her critiques/analyses, I'm not done (or finished) with "my work" either... And I mean that in working on my healing journey & improving myself in other ways, & also as in the works (work & other things, like music, crochet, writing, working with others, etc.) that I am doing & can do in future. I love it! Thanks for the positive motivation! We never need be "done" with ourselves, our lives, or what we're doing while we're here...& we *shouldn't* be done, give up or quit! As Bev exemplifies, we can always learn & do new things, recreate ourselves in different ways with our many interests throughout life. Again, thank you all & bless you! You are so needed & appreciated! Looking forward to watching episodes I haven't seen before & all that's to come!
Bev’s commentary makes me just go back to each of these episodes and take a listen! I haven’t had time to listen in a long time and now Bev’s got me pumped up to listen!!!
Those rare moments when I've met people like you and your mother are those sublime life changing moments.
May your son never set Mayim.
That intro “His Simone de Beauvoir of her J. P. Sartre”! My forever & always fav! And Beverly, she’s the best! How I adore the poignant interactions & banter between the these 3 fabulous human beings! It’s a drizzle of fresh air! THANKS, from the bottom of my heart! 🙏🏼
I always enjoy reading your comments, Marisa. YOU are a ray of sunshine !
@@moonbeanification As you are too, Jeanne! I think almost all of us, ‘Breakers’ following this amazing podcast and its creators are! Greetings from Barcelona!
I love the Bevisodes, I love to see the point of view on someone I believe around the age of my mother and the contrast is absolutely mind blowing, I wish my mom would have found as Bev mentioned a way to reinvent herself. Mayim you should be so so proud of her, I love that you give her this space to express her opinions and her views. Love from Argentina!
Myam, your mother is a delight. I don’t agree with some of your opinions but do enjoy the show and also that cutie pie Jonathan. He’s a “keeper” ;)
Died when you spit out your drink 🤣🤣🤣
Me too it was so funny 😂
we miss bevisode 🥰😍😘 yaaaaay more bev pls 🙏🙏🙏 her insights and input to every episodes and topics are astounding 🤔🙂🤩🥰
The legend that is Bev is back Yay, the Bevisodes are brilliant I always enjoy listening to her I love how she takes notes on all the episodes and feeds it all back but the highlight was Mayim spitting her tea out Lol 😂 ,, Mayim you still looked great I genuinely have never looked up to anyone like the way I look up to u, u really are fantastic love u 😘😘xx
Bevisode! At 8am! I need this! 😁😁😁
Btw, Mayim, I love the mantra Beverly & Jonathan designed for you! But how I understand you like the “Let Me Be” part the most! Same here! 😉
I recently discovered, watching an old episode that Bev is using the EMDR therapy, I was so happy to hear that. I have bpd and I've been doing EMDR for a couple of months now, it's really hard sometimes but I'm sure it'll help me. Seeing someone talking about it so openly made my day. Thank you so much.
(English is not my first language so excuse me if there are any mistakes)
None at all what are you talking about? ☺️ no mistakes made
I love the Bevisodes - just this week I was wondering where they went!
Love Mayim, I'm so glad you and your mom can communicate. Y'all make me laugh! Discussing her perspective.
I got my ROTHY'S TODAY!!!! Comfy as hell!! Thank you, Mayim! And thank you Mayim's MOM!! Quite a girl you have there
1st time i've seen a show with MOM, think this is so wonderful & healthy for you both as family . very enjoyable for us
Wow, Bev is fantastic, more please.🙏😎😷🇦🇺
Yay I have been waiting for another Bevisode!!!
I love all these Break Downs, cause I don't have too. Lol
First time I've heard/watched a "Bevisode". OMG - I love it
Thank you Bev, for helping me process the episodes as you do.
I LOVE BEV!
thank all of you.
I assume it’s a production choice but couldn’t Bev’s sections have better audio/video quality?
So very much fun 🥰🥰🥰
We need more of Bev! ❣
I’ve been waiting ages for another ‘Bevisode’ this is so exciting!!
yay!!!!!! We love you Bev
Fabulously Bev. I enjoy these the most. Love the spitting out the tea. Great moment.
I am 59 and love your podcasts. Mostly on Trauma, mindfulness and healing. As I am writing this, I am crying. Something I do on a daily basis now. Not normal crying, but a wailing, keeping noise. Deep, deep sorrow. Morning what used to be my life.
Was caught up literally in the middle of an ambush shoot out in 2020. During all that BLM crap,. This was done in Protest to George Floyd. In Moody Alabama. Two people of color lured a police officer to a room to kill him. I never made it to my room and they shot and killed him thru the window, right in front of us. I am useibg a Ford Ranger door for cover whole holding on to two little dogs. They broke free, one was shot.
is here I am, cops shooting behind me, people shooting from above at the cops. I am screaming, freaking out. I have been thru some shit. But nothing like this.
I was already shell shocked from being almost stabbed by an ex boyfriend. Three months of being stalked, terrorized. Then having my vehicle vandalized to death and everything I owned stolen by this person. My first relationship after a 17 year severely abusive marriage to a Narcissist.
All if which I have had no counseling for. I moved across the country. To a place I don't know anyone. It has cost me over 35 grand this last 2 years. Money I do not have. I work 12 hour shifts. Then come home an isolate.
Can't afford therapy. It is now to the point, I can no longer push it down. Like I said I cry everyday. I have panic attacks constantly at work. I am not the same person. I would love therapy
You have nailed how to better address mental health stigmas and explain their benefits from communication. Awesome podcast!
I love the Bevisodes! So interesting!
I found gold on CZcams today. I love this show, this podcast. Feels like watching and listening to family. Thank you for this.
The reason I love the Bevisodes is because Bev's commentary makes me want to go watch specific episodes. The majority of the time I just look at who Mayim has on and think "I don't know that person," and nothing draws me in. Bev draws me in.
Wooow Bevi is back 😍🥰
Finally!
Great discussion! Bev is alot like my friends growing up
😂
The word "resonate" has become a big part of psychology today. When I hear it, I'm reminded of a company for which I worked in the late '80s. They made insulation for firewalls in cars. Part of the production was done in a" resin-ator". It infused tar resin into a wool blankets to prevent cabin fires. Amazed that just 1 letter completely changed the meaning from relatable and desirous, to an insulating, preventative tool to keep the bad stuff out. Honestly, I have to catch myself when I hear it; in a good way. I am forced to ask myself whether the topic is something I desire, or something to avoid.
Silly mnemonic for me. But it works!
Yes it looks like a textbook! Thx Mom!
Oh em gee. Obsessed with Bev.
These videos bring me so much joy! I often have to listen to the podcast rather than watch, but I will re-listen to episodes just so I can watch the action when I have time. Especially the Bevisodes. Total Breakdown geek over here!
Love the Bevisodes 👍🏽
Love this!
OMG! Bevides #5 !!! How I’ve missed her and her wonderful, amazing, gorgeous and intelligent view of the regular episodes! Btw, as I’ve no mom, may I ask her to adopt me as a quite Mayim’s elder sister? Not joking now, as mom as kid! 💜
Mayim please try to be more patient and kind with your mother! My mother passed away six years ago and in her later years I became very impatient with her and I regret it! Your mother might not have the same level of intelligence that you do, but you can tell she really loves you so please try to reduce sarcasm and be kind.❤️❤️❤️P.S. Hug her and tell her you love her we don’t know how long they will be here!
Glad to see you Mayim! Pretty as always!
Isn't it interesting that Bev labels a Jewish practice "Zen," when these ways of thinking are also ancient in the Jewish tradition? This happens a lot, when Jews discover the richness of our own heritage. Bev, like a lot of modern Jews, grew up in a home that didn't include these aspects of Jewish life, so assumed they weren't part of our tradition. But our tradition is very varied, deep, and wide. Bev (and others) might appreciate the book, "The Jew in the Lotus," about a week-long encounter a group of rabbis had with the Dalai Lama in 1990. Written by poet Rodger Kamenetz, who got to go on the trip to India even though he's not a rabbi. (I'm not in any way affiliated with the book, its author, or its publisher -- just recommending a work that's inspired a lot of Jews to discover the richness of Jewish spirituality that was almost lost amidst the 20th-century rush to be modern and American. That encounter inspired a flowering of Jewish creativity and a revival of interest in Jewish mysticism that continues today.) BTW in re gratitude, there's an old tradition among observant Jews to say 100 blessings a day. Over time, I bet it really shifts your mindset!
Where, in the Old Testament does it talk about “zen”. You’re combining two different beliefs. The act of being “zen” maybe similar but not the same thing.
I know that book.
I was surprised to learn how many of my Buddhist and yoga teachers were Jewish.
I really love and appreciate that you spell the names of the sponsors. So often I hear ,especially on radio, people saying the name and thinking how is that spelled?
Good Morning!
Not sure Trump supporters were a cult, just so glad to have a truthful President that loved this country and was there to serve. Which is more evident now with the current Administration. Loved the podcast anyway💖
Oh! I've thought about this "phenomenon" before also! We believe we've never heard/seen/read a word before, but have & just don't "catch" it until we first "learn" that word, & then we notice it EVERYWHERE after that... That's such an interesting concept to me! It blows me away that we just aren't catching some words...until we do! How is that possible? Am I spacing out then? lol... Who knows?! It cracks me up though & amazes me how it could be possible. Anyway, that just caught me at the end as you went through that experience. I'm glad it's not only me! Though I guess we're never the only one experiencing what we do...& that's comforting in many ways, huh? Thanks again for all you do for so many each day & keep taking really good care.
Yahoo I love you guys and Bev is so cool
I LOVE the Bevisodes!!!! Love, love, love!!!
I love the interaction between these three. I also love that the gold baby sits in the back with the fake egg that won them that baby. Random fact
Yummy Yum Yum! Bevvie Treats!! 😍😍😍
I TOTALLY agree with Bev on that we usually find another Melissa to our Melissa. This is me 100%. Finding someone in your darkest hour, who will take care of your broken soul (not for their own temporary selfish gain of feeling good about themselves, but for life and out of pure love) feels like it never happens... like it's the holy grail, a lottery win... I also, just like Bev, feel a bit envious about not having the luck of meeting someone like that in my life... maybe one day...
I honestly thought your mam was you in the thumb nail. I said to my self "wow, she's rocking that blonde " 🙈❤ your mamas lovely. X
She’s awesome in jeopardy. I love her style
You have a marvelous mom
Looking forward to your speech at the conference, Doc. L’chaim!
I've missed bev!!!🥰
Wow! Great insights from Bev! This was a very enjoyable episode.
We're so glad you enjoyed it!
AWESOME!!!!
love your Mom's mantra for you!! I'm going to steal it and use it wisely 😄
LOVE Bev!! She is so cool ❤️🌱🌱🌱
Very enjoyable. I like hearing different people's takeaways.
Dear Bev & Mayim, I love you both. The more I watch, the more I think we're related. None the less, my family is not Jewish. Although, I was told I was just short of being a 'Jewish princess', and I was asked to teach at a Jewish school!
I don't even mind that lots of your guests are Jewish, But, I was slightly offended at the beginning of the episode.
My U.S.born father went to meet his Transylvanian grandmother at age three. He was a victim of the Nazi occupation and didn't return until 20! His 'Gestapo' narcissistic style parenting has me still in therapy! Maybe I'm over the top and NO disrespect, yet, The Jewish people were not the only group horribly impacted.
Jonathan, you're wonderful and you often amaze me to delight!
Moms matter
Thank you, Bev! I need to swipe "let me be"
I really like your theme song!
How interesting
The cheese 🧀 to your macaroni
Mayim, I think you should lean into Bev’s mantras.
Baskins robin's looks 😋
You guys looks so similar.
Is Leonard Amy in real???
What the hell is involute @.@
I just watched for 6 minutes but I know this episode is epic...
I just started using auto subtitle today and this worths me ti look up every unfamiliar word.
My mom is a buddism and she falls into Amway. Then I understand what cultish means😂
Ben Falcone would be a great Guest 🙂 ...please & thank You
Bev is always so grainy. Is it her camera ?
Hello guys, I love your show a lot. I guess I am very young at heart. I say to my self that I see my self as you guys age even though I’m a lot older gay man. I have been a big fan Mayim since beaches. I also can see why Mayim you love Jonathan. Your a wonderful couple. I also relate be I have angsty . I am trying my best to watch all of your wonderful shows. I also got to meet your beautiful mother. I never thought of your core audience and I’m not part of it and I know my age. But I don’t think of my age and I am not a young woman. I guess I should have a harder shell, but I heard you guys and I found out I’m old. I let myself get so hurt. I know I’m not your age and I know my age. Guy this gay man was really hurt. I no it’s me but please remember I’m young at heart with my husband and a big fan. And I well tell others about your show. Rob Hansen
Where is ask Mayim anything? Can’t seem to find it.
Let me be might be a good idea for a new tattoo. 😀 I mean I could easily see how people might be a lot for her sometimes because she is so relatable. I mean every time I watch I immediately feel like she is friend I've know for years and I'm sure that could be overwhelming if everyone feels that way about her.
Please send tattoo pic if it happens! lol.
So the cardiologist was literally saying I may have had a light heart attack and we need further testing when Mayim posted this comment! Never thought I would say this today but BEST DAY EVER! Needless to say, this made my day... week... year! 😊
😍
