I've been looking to buy a ring modulator and had narrowed it down to The Ring Thing, a Frequency Analyzer (both by EHX), or Randy's Revenge by Fairfield Circuits. I prefer Randy's Revenge, but it's expensive and the Canadian dollar is the lowest I've ever seen. The Ring Thing is cool but does extra things I'm not particularly interested in. So... that leaves the Frequency Analyzer. Although it's no longer in production I've found one (NOS) at a store near me for $200. Thanks for the long, thorough and detailed video. It has helped me realize the Ring Thing sounds great, but I'm looking for a Ring Modulator without the extras. Best regards from Canada!
I got a used EHX Frequency Analyzer for next to nothing and just had to buy the power adapter (it's a 40V adapter). It's the best deal I've done, great inspiring tool to create different sounds and use your imagination.
@@cuauhtemocbojorquez94 I've bought 4 pedals because the prices were great. An ambient type reverb, an optical compressor $125 each instead of $275 each, a TC Electronic Triple Delay... and I won a Nemesis Delay by Source Audio. Just checked the Frequency Analyzer at a near by store and it's decreased in price. $160 Cdn. Should be ordering it soon.
A fifth is like when you play a power chord the first and third notes are you bass and octave notes where the second note is your fifth so essentially when you play a note then whammy up a fifth your just completing partial power chord I guess I don't know music theory but that's the way I understand it
I've been considering getting a ring thing and now I'm sure I want one thanks for the killer demo I have a few subpar ring modulaters but this one is awesome and does alot
Love your demos. The Ring Thing truly is in its own league, not necessarily practical, but surely fun to noodle with.
Thanks for your kind words!!! And yes, your right...the RingThing is more fun than it is practical 😅

Nice to hear the video was a help! You're right, if you just need a Ring Modulator, RingThing would be an overkill for sure. 😅

@@wesmitchem825 Thanks for the explanation and taking time to comment!!! I'm lost theory wise and octaves are one of the few things I understand 😅
I hate Metallica too!
Haha, I thought to myself, that one day I would get it...but it still didn't happen.
