On the charger, you want to select LIPO BALANCE, rather than LIPO charge, balance will charge and balance at the same time which is safer, lipo charge will ignore the balance wire or what they referred to as the communication plug
Good Call!
@@PotatoJet Yes I noticed that right off as well..
depends on your balance charger.. iMax and ISDT chargers will balance on charge mode.
Everything I've read says most LiPo's 'charge rate' is 1C. So, for a 520mAh LiPo your talking 520/1,000=0.52 Amp charge rate. However, he's saying it's okay to double that (0.52 x 2 = 1.04 Amp Charge Rate). He's charging at 1.1 Amp (slightly more than double the charge rate). He's the expert but does get confusing with these batteries. I know it can differ by LiPo Battery but I rarely see 'charge rate' marked on the battery itself so I've been doing the 1C charge rate to date. Looks like your using a GN3Flight Power Lipo....
@@RGMGFitness yep so it’s sorta up to u in a way. Him charging at 2c poses zero fire risk but will slightly affect the long term health of the battery. 1C is basically a rate at which you’re totally safe but some batteries (like my cnhl) even claim to be safe for 5c charging. That’s probably safe too but I’m sure it’ll have affects on the long term health
When I first discovered fpv, I thought they were just weird looking toys... But 3 separately built drones, 2 gopros and way too much money on replacement components later - it's honestly been one of the most fulfilling and freedom inciting things I've ever done. It's made me want to travel again, talk to awesome people, and experience the world from a completely new light.
Amen brother
Thank you for doing this! I have been practicing on simulators and a tiny whoop for almost a year and didn’t go full in on building a cine-whoop yet. This is gonna push me over the edge
other than me going analog, i just brought the betafpv 95x v2 yesterday, just waiting for the shipment :) i am so excited to get into this hobby.
I've been getting into fpv, love my Nazgul5.
Damn! Nazgul is female name among us__LoL😆
I'll never do this, but it's nice to know how the systems are connected for final output. Lots of room there for incrementally upgrading features in the various modules...
Robert is so simple. He is in a position where people have personal assistant and stuff. But look at this guy, I love this dude
Drones are like Gene. They're better when a camera is attached to them, they're mostly made in asia, they're unstable when they go full speed and they're UP for any challenges.
good one 🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆
HAHAHAHA this killed me
The UP jokes about Gene are always the best😂😂
Will try this soon! I’m just waiting for the new DJI FPV drone release so I could try this with new goggles and controller!
"GoPro bought us out."
"Oh wow!"
...
"Okay now let's take apart a GoPro."
😂😂😂
I've been waiting for this video without knowing
Wow well said
Hernan Assali well said
Good one :)
I love all your videos. So informative and fun.
This is one of the most informative videos I’ve seen on the subject, I fell like I woke up, and became a better person because of all the new information in my brain.
I discovered your channel because I fly FPV and wanted learn more videography and cinematography. Its cool to see you dabbling in FPV now.
Thanks so much for this video! Finally understand the technical differences and reasons for each battery type.
This is nice! What do you have to say about the new DJI FPV leaks?
Awesome!! Thanks for doing a Follow Up Video!!!
Have been waiting for this video so bad
cheers mate im super keen to get into this down the track
Thanks for your time and the video. Happy flying!!!
Great great video, thanks to you two guys for the colaboration!
I can't believe the timing of this video! I JUST bought the BetaFPV 95x with the digital FPV system last night to run with my Insta 360 Go! Super excited to start flying.
Robert McIntosh is more than a Angel! He is our FPV God!
I have been waiting for this video for so long
Yes new video!!
While I feel like smashing my GoPro at times (it’s a Hero 7 black) I just couldn’t bring myself to shred it like these guys! Kudos 👏
that Robert is one groovy fellow, great content as usual Gene
Wow, this is your best video (for my opinion): so clear and exciting and simple!
You don't know how much I needed this video
Dude this is a super important and mega useful video as FPV is blowing up, but for beginners getting started is a minefield, but with videos likes this, you have helped so many 🙏
Made my day! Love to see two of my favorite people in this hobby (used to be) together again!
i watch every single video of potato jet.
may be it's your personality or your goofyness or your love(for cameras, kary, sam, dogs..)
but i really enjoy your videos.
Thank You.
thanks so much for providing such explanation. was looking for a video like this for so longggg
The direction of the gopro was so awesome. I love this channel, it’s pretty sweet.
Finally! It’s been so long. Tho I watched last year’s fps video not too long ago.
Me: Did I just watch 30 minutes video in like 10 minutes?
Didn't see coming that.
Gene: That's what good content videos does.
🤣🤣
The level of production across all your videos is so impressive that I laughed out loud at the method you used to screencap the goggles haha
Dang i really liked the video. I actually sat through the 30 mins! Longest yt cid i ever actually wanted to watch. Keep it up man!
Literally got into fpv drones this past week and was hoping you would make a new video about this ❤️ it's a sign
Tip to make your batteries last longer: charge your LiPos at 1C, aka 1.5A for your 1500mAh or 0.52A for example in your 520 mAh battery, you’ll be fine charging at 2C but the batteries will last the longest charging slowly. Hopefully you can make the batteries last that long, us FPV pilots tend to retire our LiPo packs from crashing too much :)
I was thinking the same thing. 1C Charge Rate. Though, everything I've read says different batteries can support different charge rates (1C, 2C, up to 5C) depending on manufacturer. But I've never found the 'Charge Rates' labeled on the batteries or on the manufacturer web sites so I'm guessing people are just making assumptions many times on what they can get away with?
RGMG Most LiPos can take a 3C charge rate, i’ve heard of people charging them at 5C when they’re in the field to get more flying time but all the super high charge rates deplete the lifespan by a lot and can potentially start a fire if the LiPo isn’t good quality
@@andrewechang Thanks for the heads up. I've been very conservative to date (not knowing the limits). I really wish the Lipo manufacturers would specify this somewhere. Seems like no one wants to document it so we at least know the limits of the battery.
I was really surprised that he was advocating charging at 2C. Especially since this video will be seen by loads of beginners. Every other FPV CZcamsr I've seen says charge at 1C.
For the beginners, that means he should be charging at 1x the amperage of the battery. In this case, 0.55 amps and 1.5 amps for the larger LiPo.
Lin Nyunt yeppp i usually destroy my lipos by crashing them before their lifespan is over but still good to make 1C a habit :)
I have been watching your videos for a while now and have always imagined the amount of fun you would have and the awesome videos you could create! I'm charging up my batteries right now to go fly. I have about 12 fpv quads which has gotten me into cinematography and why I started watching your channel.
Wow! That video was so long in the making! Congratulations, all that drone flight training paid off!
This video has been gold, very thorough, thanks so much!
Ordered my first FPV setup (2 drones actually)
I put a Go Pro Hero 3 on top of one of those tiny Toy Helicopters. Worked well for my last Nike Commercial 🎥👊🏻
Thank potato Jet for all the content you put out. I know you work really hard.
I have a series of videos on the DJI fpv system on quads big and small. Racing to freestyle to indoors.
Awesome to see it featured on your channel.
Been rocking the DJI FPV System w/ a *BetaFPV Beta95X* for a few weeks now. Its' such a blast! Haven't mounted a GoPro to it yet...want to get a little better flying FPV first. Otherwise, can get expensive very quickly.
This is the best video for explaining things. Thank you so much for putting this together!
I’ll wait until a company can make this whole setup 💯 PnP...this is exciting!
So dope even better than the last time!
FPV is tons of fun, glad U took an interest in it. I would recommend you learn flying acro mode in a simulator Like Liftoff or DRL/DCL sim. Acro mode is where it's at to get really nice and smooth footage.
Also getting some practice through a drone simulator (Liftoff.) Is a grand ol' idea! It also pairs super easy with the DJI fpv controller via usb. Saves you a lot of crashes.
@4:35 I love when people who are not smiley, smile. It's so genuine! Lol
I swear to god if this guy ever made a walkthrough of a car, I will still watch it.
Oh wait I did that already.
Oh potato Jet! You put this video out during spin up! Good job dude! Love your content as always
0:14 GLORIOUS
looked like a lot of fun! A lot of work too!!
Well, I now bought a fpv drone, a traning drone and so much more, thanks gene! My creditcard loves you
I've been waiting for this let's go 😊😮
*I thought it's a 10 min video but no. i did not notice because i am having fun everytime i watch gene's videos.*
Apple boxes would be great here. Very informative video!
I'm not sure what i'm looking at, but in wired way its good, liked the video! Its knowledge sharing...thx!
Very nice video Gene, thanks for this!
You can get a fully built kit with goggles and what not by Emax and GepRC for like 150-200 pounds btw, the GepRC one can do 4K too!
this is amazing! thanks for the video
Loving the new outro audio. Thinking of trading my mavic mini for an FPV drone to allow me to get a different perspective on flying.
Woohoo finally! Those of us from the second channel have been waiting for this for a while now :)
Ah yes at last the video we have been waiting for!
Appreciate you guys!
No way you stayed at my friend's property that I photographed for Airbnb. What a trip recognizing that very blue complex. :) Thanks for the great content.
you are fast learner man, i just got into this fpv this july 2020 and still struggling to maintain the drone up in the air. i am using betafpv 85x HD. that's one sick naked gopro, it'll be my next project lol
Great video!! Keep these coming man!
Thank you Gene and Robert! Excellent information! Really makes me want to get into FPV!
Love it, thank you for this video!
Great video dude! I want to get into this. BIG TIME!!! Reminds me of Pod Racer and F-Zero. This is a video I've been waiting for.
Great video man! cant wait to fly with you, you bastard.
finally what i was waiting for
Fpv its something special i hope you try long range fpv ,,, feels relax...
Potato Jet's got some flying skills now!
ReelSteady is the stufffffff!!!!!
Wow that headset is dope!
It won't be long before GoPro start making there own naked camera or better yet, a smaller, lighter camera for FPV use.
Also you don't have to but a DJI radio, you could get FrSky, Jumper or RadioMaster, the later is really good imo.
you can also fly a sim to practise flying. check out DRL, Velocidrone and liftoff.
Great job on this. I do love the more in depth stuff
the thumbnail is sooooo nice.. happy for ur drone setup Gene!
next video suggestion: slapping a arri alexa on a drone hahhahahaha
30 min video from gene and the boys? Just what the doctor ordered😂🙌🏻
Piece of cake!
This is the type of thing GoPro should consider factory making.
Requires too much skill to fly probably😂
Wow video after a week
Great video! I'm going to subscribe, and looking forward to seeing some footage!
Mann cant thank you enough for showing these step by step guide. Im a visual learner and find this so so helpful. I have the DJI goggles and controller, is this process the same for binding and activating software for other quads like iflight, geprc cinewhoops or just Beta?
I remember building one back in the day, it was super frustrating and costing more than what it did back then. The mini drone makes it more feasible!
So want to do this... Thanks Gene!
I really don’t recommend taking apart the hero 6, I’ve had 2 break from pretty soft crashes. Just take out the battery and the covers and use a usb c adapter to your battery to power it and it’ll be light. Not as light as the stripped hero 6 but light enough and more durable
I'm wondering if you could make a kind of light protective case to attach to the quad and take the impact for the Gopro? Should be possible to make something lighter than the Gopro case itself as there's also screen and stuff
@@vincentholm326 we already do that. We 3D print tpu cases for full size gopros to protect them
@@adamhasan7370 yeah, but I mean for the naked gopros. Something in hard material to protect the naked gopro like on this beta95x (or 85x, can't remember). Just protect, not tightly wrapped around it. It should still be much lighter than a full gopro
@@vincentholm326 yeah could print something with tpu that’ll help protect it, I just think most people strip down the gopros because they want the lightest setup they can get
You featuring FPV has gotten me 100% interested in drones. I’m getting a mavic mini when I get back from the bush.
Saying Mavic in the same comment as FPV is rough.
CalypsoRaz are you going to cry?😿
@@AlaskaPirates why would I cry? You can spend your money on whatever you wish. Just know that DJI drones are not fpv. Im sure you can create some beautiful videos in Alaska.
CalypsoRaz sounded like you started crying with that last comment🤣 very aware of what dji drones are and what they do... I’m buying one because I’ve never owned, or even operated a drone before. I’m going to start learning, and then go from there.
@@AlaskaPirates nah, I just regret wasting money on the DJI stuff that I have. Especially with the approaching FAA rulings.
Wohooo angel build
great video to watch at 2 am, especially when you never flew a drone
The headset looks dopeeeee
First time I've liked before I watch the video! The title alone is 🔥
yes
