      to quote Gul'dan when asked "what must we give in return?"; EVERYTHING...
      EDIT: jokes aside, i would've fixed ALMOST everything. for one thing i wouldnt have made The Jailer be so underwhelming, or stupid enough to not even consider us mortals a threat. he was played off like he was this 5D Chess Player, and yet against us he ignored us right up until the final battle. all those years of planning, ruined in a heartbeat, a terrible joke told by Blizzard, by Steve Danuser.

    There is another slant to this last scene between Sylvanas and Anduin. The events of the book Sylvanas "occur" during Shadowlands as she visits him over and over in his "cell" trying to coax his agreement. She relates her own story, and we see the family members she loved and the events that shaped her life up until that precise moment she's speaking with him. If you read that then watch this scene, it gives it so much more depth to the conversation. When you read the book, have the audio book playing as well--Patty nails the right queues as her voice is so awesome.
    In another book, we see where Anduin would done a cloak such as he's wearing here and go out to Goldshire to just be a simple person among his people rather than a prince of Stormwind/king of stormwind. I see wearing this cloak as a call back to the fact he is leaving to go face himself and not be a ruler until he can calm his own anguish.
    Both of them have long roads ahead of them, but the last lines for her book are my favorite of the entire novel. :)

    Spoiler Alert here. The reason why The Jailer looks like that is because the Pantheon of the Shadowlands are artificial, sentient constructs created by a group of beings known as The First Ones. In fact one of the bosses in the raid leading up to The Jailer is called the Prototype Pantheon where you fight Mk 1 versions of the leaders of the Shadowlands.

  • @srkares
    @srkares Před 3 měsíci

    having never seen these scenes before, i think the punishment is a very good one for sylvanas. not only can she actively make amends for the wrongs she did (though it will always be a drop in the bucket, considering countless acts of genocide she committed or commanded over the years), but from a story writing perspective it also gives a chance to fall back onto her, re-introduce her at some point in the (hopefully far) future, because not only do we know where she is, but also this kind of work can definitely change a person, given enough time.
    also i believe tyrandes owl is more like a magical familiar from DnD, not an actual owl.

  • @Ottakazi
    @Ottakazi Před 3 měsíci

    I like the scene where Sylvanas is talking to Anduin saying "I have faced who I am. And what I've done. Now the work begins." Almost talking to a generate of kids who are growing up and becoming adults in a world where it seems like mental health is on the decline. That therapy is becoming more common place. Like its trying to relate to lot of people who have been struggling with mental health but "now the work begins." That you have the power to get better despite what you've been through. I think Anduin will sort of become a beacon for almost like "overcoming trauma and mental health issues". Especially in the war within (kinda hence the name). I know in the war within trailer having been someone who struggles with PTSD from my time in the military. His emotions were SPOT ON for PTSD reactions and the feelings he showed. I think his rise will strike a chord with an interesting audience that doesn't get alot of light

    It's always seemed since these came out that people forgot that Sylvannas got her complete soul back. Her old self is the one admitting to the deeds her tortured self did. It's not hard to see why she had such a sudden change and submitting to Tyrande. The Ranger General, Hero to the High Elves is who is submitting not the tortured Banshee.

So when the Ranger General awoke after being merged she had memories of things she didn't do (The Banshee instead of the General). Now that her soul is whole again, your seeing the real Sylvanas! Like her soul was cleaved in two, good and evil, light and dark. The Banshee Queen and the Ranger General. Now that their whole again, the Ranger General and Temper her Darker Impulses.

    What's so fun about delving into Warcraft lore is that people tend to be attached to their first experience with the story.
    In your case, it was The War Within trailer. So it's nice seeing you be excited figuring out everything that led to that point. The Lich King pose that Anduin did, the flashback to Varian's soul touching Anduins shoulder, the reason why Anduin has no Light anymore, the "We don't get to hide." quote, etc.
    My introduction to Warcraft was Warcraft 3. And in that game, I always wondered why the acolytes of the Undead Scourge tend to say "My life for Ner'zhul." Who is Ner'zhul? And then in just one Google search of that name, I realized that everything I know about Warcraft 3 was just a small fraction of everything there is to learn about Warcraft.

    I have an interesting take on Sylvanas's delivery of the line at 12:19. It feels almost like an intimate pleading. Almost like how you would speak to a romantic partner while trying to comfort them. I don't ship Sylvanas and Anduin but I do believe there is mutual respect and affection toward each other, as well as an understanding of each other's perspectives and pain that no one else shares. So I think she asks it like that because she just wants him to be happy.

    Man, being kinda down on WoW storytelling in Shadowlands and then they drop the Anduin/Sylvanas cinematic at the end. Really helped carry the hype for DragonFlight.
    Also, Anduin collecting parental figures like they're Pokemon.
    Varian, his biological dad and someone who's boots he's been trying to fill his entire life
    Valeera, a Blood elf who's been part of his personal guard since he was a child and has been a large part of him growing up.
    "Aunty" Jaina, who's also like somewhat of a motherfigure to him.
    Genn Graymane, one of his fathers closest advisors who supported Anduin after Varian passed.
    Saurfang whom he got close to during BFA (one having lost a son, the other a father), and like Varian, died with Shalamayne in hand and shows up to support him during his darkest moment.
    And now we got Sylvanas, who has shared his experience of getting your bodily agency removed and knows what kinds of scars that leave.
    You've also probably heard this from commentors/chatters before but, Sylvanas had a younger brother who she loved dearly. He was much weaker than his older sisters but had great talent for art and performance and ends up becoming the royal musician of the then high elves. Though he still sometimes wishes he had become a ranger like his sisters and asks Sylvanas to train him in the ranger ways. She denies him, wanting to keep him as far away from battles as possible by keeping him as a civilian. One of her other sisters agrees to train him in secret.
    He later dies in some attack on some settlement and Sylvanas blames her sister who trained him for his death. Sylvanas seems to see a lot of her brother in Anduin, with his gentle nature and him being a priest but almost being forced into being some sort of warrior (not talking in-game classes here necessarily). Sylvanas brother also had long blond hair, so that's a visual similarity.
    The nickname she used for her dear brother was "Little Sun". I don't believe I need to elaborate on why that is relevant.

The Primus wears a sash with domination runes on it, the exact same runes etched into Zovaal's skin, and they're the same runes on the Lich King's sword Frostmourn. Why is The Primus wearing domination runes when he was a "prisoner" held captive in the Maw? I bet you anything that Zovaal was just a distraction. The real Jailer made us a fool. He's the most brilliant tactician ever, because he can see all outcomes of a battle thanks to a shady deal. Take a look at concept art of the Jailer, looks just like The Primus. And you wanna know the kicker here? What did we do for The Primus? We made a new arbiter and what did we reforge from the broken Lich King's Helm of Domination? The Crown of Wills, placed neatly on the head of the sole individual deciding every single soul's afterlife. Helm of Domination / Crown of Wills, The Primus played us and made us the fools, made us believe he was a prisoner with his memories stripped from him, where we then killed Zovaal all while The Primus - the REAL Jailer - reforged his previous helm into something more innocent looking, and we handed him control of every soul's destiny in the afterlife.
