This is just Bunny loving all of the Gratefuldead play so well together ! I love all of them as old friends that we were a long time ago !
I was in Foxboro a week before..and 2 weeks later we lost Brent..but Jack Straw ALWAYS makes me smile especially with Brent and Bruce!
@@stephenbutler3428 I used to have some tapes that was supposed to be them playing in Texas(?) under the name "The Munch Puppies" and they played some Dead songs or some instrumental takes on them. I liked the New Bohemians before hearing those tapes.
Love the songs where both jerry and bob have verses.
Trivia! How many more can you name…?

AWESOME
This takes me back to sooo many summer music festivals 😭😍🎶💃🏿
Grateful Dead is life
2:25 when Brent looks up at the sky while singing about the sky. Awesome!!!
Best Jack Straw I've ever heard
Check out the Dean Dome in '93. I think it was 3/24/93. Best I've ever heard Jerry rock it out. Fucking explosive.
Listen to Deer Creek 1990 Jack Straw, you will have a new favorite
When things get really rough and we ain't got nothing but Jack, we got JACK.
this may be my favorite jam yet....these guys firing on all cylinders
7/12/90 at RFK was best show of summer
Deer Creek was again in there, incredible parking lot and golf course scene. iirc, outside Chicago was the last show on this tour. One of those shows where people abandon cars on the road too. So many people ran up the hill there to jump the fence, even if they had tickets, just wanting in. The next night they had dogs to discourage folks, and a few got bit trying. The last night, I sold 50 peanut butter, honey and banana sandwiches for $1 buck after the show to get back to Portland. Somewhere out in Montana, I was sleeping under a bridge while Brent died.
Awesome! I was at the fence (inside) waving at people to come on up and over. I like helping.
35 years ago today Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸
Thanks for the memories
This was my 1st show and it was so much fun!!! ❤❤❤❤
Ive probably watched this 20 times and just now noticed Bruce back there 😅
Power to the PA cutout during Promised Land. Band picked up right in the middle of the song once the power was restored.....
It was so brutally hot that day. This was the closest to the stage I had ever been, iirc it was 14/15 rows back in front of Jerry, almost.
When Bruce was playing their set, I thought my head was going to split open from a massive heat headache.
Then as soon as the boys came on, you could hear the rumbling thunder in the distance. You could also feel it in the air, instant headache relief!
The power outage during Promised was crazy. The rain was so hard, it looked like a waterfall over the sides of the stage.
Then when they came back out and picked up right where they left off, we lost our collective minds.
A magical night, and really great show, that I am blessed to have been at. As I feel with all of them.
A fun night indeed. Do you remember the flood of, not rain, but people streaming down that back lawn area that was blocked off? I recall thinking that was the reason the power was cut during Promised Land. Thought the powers that be were saying “shows over folks”. Phew.
Yeah, I was there, too. Got out of the back of a State Trooper's car to get back in the crowd and into the show. The power outage and needle drop back when power was restored is one of the most astonishing things that I have seen in my life. And I happened to sit by a friend whom I hadn't seen since I was in Jones Dorm at East Carolina 14 years prior, who caught Pigpen up on a mutual friend who was very ill. All-in-all, it was the most memorable show that I attended in decades.
I do remember that, and iirc by the time the “fence” gave way, it was just a huge mudslide of people.
For those of us up closer to the stage, it took a bit before we realized what was happening. (Though I must admit, when the boys are playing, I have tunnel vision) but I had some friends up on the left side, that saw the whole thing unfold.
Time to watch this concert again!
Living in Raleigh I hear the dead everywhere it lives here
They always put on an awesome concert. So glad to be a part of that generation .
I was at this show! I miss them.
Thanks for sharing! An excellent band, who live on in their music. I was born in 1965, the year they were founded, just in the wrong place (Europa, Győr). That's why l unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to see them live.
Great song thanks guys 🌷⚡💀
Mickey Hart really hits the drums. 😊❤
My fave show opener. Especially when they reach the summit like they do here.
Saw this tour and Jerry was pretty clean and on his game. Amazing when he was relatively sober.
man that last verse was powerful
I love the Grateful Dead. All their music is amazing! 💜💜🎁🎊🥂
One of my all time favorite Dead songs
I really like this version
Thanks for the Christmas present. 🎄
Hurray for Raleighwood! Looked like Jerry got a haircut and put on some shorts for the heat and humidity. Great show!
I'd forgotten about Bruce playing the accordion. Really enjoyed the clip.
They look like they are really enjoying themselves. Jerry and Bobby have that great sh*t eating grins.
Who was in Raleigh 96 for the future. Luckily I got to see GD Charlotte, NC 95.
Was at this show! Duck head kakis and tevas
They're all just vibing. Gotta get to a festival this year no matter what
a lot of people don't know this but Brent played the gopher in Caddyshack
If you say so Bro.. I'll ask Brent when I see him again. I don't expect to see you there
It's in da hole you're a tremendous slouch. San Rafael Marin county San Francisco California rastafari Tucson Arizona Sonoran desert 🏜️🌵 yes I keep on keeping on
God bless the Grateful dead and God bless Brent Mydland. Couple of weeks later and he checked out, left a hole and a difference with the band that never healed or was filled.
Grateful New Year!
Half a mile from Tucson by the morning light 🍄🌁🌁🌁🍄🌹🍄⚡
wow wow wow
Have a Jerry Christmas!!!
🎅 💀⚡️🌹 🎄
The Jerry verses in Jack Straw... he's just the coolest cat there ever was...
The boys are having fun
And yeah, it was brutal hot!
I was there
Though I was not at this show I saw the Jerry Garcia BandWAIKIKI SHELL in Hawaii 2 months before this show and it shows. Jerry looks good and relaxed here
I had to look up Brent Mydlands name. He was great but my brain doesn't work like it used to. Oct. 21 1952-July 26 1990
when they smile at each other
Favorite Dead song (after Box of Rain and Ripple, of course).
Good stuff...
Happy New Year!!
Brucey really brought an accordion front and center stage. Nerd! LOL
Brilliant
He could levitate the band crowd and stage when he was sober
Whew.....
Slipping and sliding down that muddy hill.
Phil awesome
I'll take another to go... and make it snappy !
look at jerry smile
Always love to analyze the lyrics to this song. The imagery is so American, but I still cannot figure out exactly what it's about.
Ive seen them 20, or so times. My first show was Hershey Park, almost traded my ticket for 2 live aid tickets (yea, im old) glad i didn't
I can’t believe Brent died 2 weeks later
⚡🌹💀🌹⚡

Never heard abad star
Gee, these guys are pretty good. Grateful Head?

I just wish their shorts were shorter
ace
how many g d songs are about running from the law and being in cowboy ass cities
Man when Phil turns up and lays it down they all fall in and hook up and when they do... Dammit!
Damn, when Jerry was clean and healthy he was magic. Will always resent the cancelled shows when "Jerry has the flu."
Was in San Rafael Marin county San Francisco had tickets for lake Tahoe shows, then we lost Brent. I cried, had to drive up to South lake Tahoe, get refund. Miserable journey half a mile from Tucson by the border line. Tucson is 90 Miles from the border. Tucson Arizona Sonoran desert 🏜️🌵 yes I keep on keeping on 🍄🍄🍄
i love bruce, but i think that in Jack straw the accordion is too much. I prefer the normal version
One of my favorite Dead tunes. 😎
Love Brent.. Such a great player & singer, but god do I hate that keyboard sound! Ugh.. 🥴
Click 👍 if Hart ever inspired you to go sleeveless
We can share the women we can share the wine
It was so hot that day! And the storm that followed was popping out some serious lightning. The gatecrashers kind of ruined everything for me. The whole laid back Dead scene vibe was being taken over by drunk frat boys. Sorry if I sound so negative, but these guys were obnoxious as hell.
Dead and Metallica best band ever
First
Was it this song when lightning hit?
Power went out during Promised Land as I recall, perhaps that was when.
@@tetrahedronify ahh yes... they picked it back up right where they left off.
I never knew Brent and Bruce played onstage at the same time
That must’ve hurt Brent. Obvi if he wasn’t pulling his weight, then this looks/sounds better with Bruce.
Sad decline of a great keyboardist. His playing on the b3 organ can not be replaced
dumbest comment on youtube today, brent around 4:30. bruce was just around to make things interesting, brent never declined. he just died
Brent did not decline. Unfortunately he fastballed himself off the planet.
+r
We can Share the fungus.... We can share the kine😶🌫️
WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
The mix is weird
Chat Boy Jack Straw should be charged with copyright infringement, using song titles for handles is lame, ie; Jack Straw#357 and Althea #787😜
So much shit out there and this stuff that we’ve all seen a million times, gets used and posted as a “new release”.
I’m sick of it………
what is that horrible keyboard sound I hear all through the song? sounds like a sears 1965 kids play organ. lol. and the singing is so god awful bad. way off key. and and at the 3:50 mark. what the hell is Phil doing on the bass ? lol lol. sounds like jazznoodling. lol. other then that nd 5 other things. wow. so great
They aren't the best at what they do..their the only ones who could do what they did..LADIES AND GENTLEMEN PLEASE WELCOME THE GRATEFUL DEAD..
"Usually a first set opener, Jack Straw contained a powerful jam toward its conclusion, and this one delivers. A stadium show on Brent's final run with the Grateful Dead, this performance also featured a collaboration with Bruce Hornsby, who'd opened the show." - David Lemieux
post something deep down in the vault man, some early 70s 60s i know you guys got it, we have all seen this 90s stuff mannn☮️
I was there for the whole tour ✌️❤️🌟🥀💀🎩
Is this the year when it was raining and lighten was firing down during Bird Song and all the parking lot crashed the gates sliding down the hill behind the goal posts?
Unfortunate we lost Brent so soon. Loved these shows. Looking back you can see him fighting his demons, just look in his eyes. Great Jack Straw. And Hornsby adds the perfect touch
@@simathison2617 yep. that was the show. i was there when the fence came down. heh. hippy power!
