Yes im not a fan of it either i thought Harley could have made them better to do away with such a gap. I just deal with it now it used to annoy the living hell out of me
For the mainhead lamp ring you back the screw out a little then fit the ring start clamping it down untill the gap starts closing but enough to get screwdriver in to tighten down stock ring. Then tighten visor trim. You always have a little gap but i can live with it
At least they have only a small gap.
I hate those rings that leave a gap at the bottom.

Looks good, when you removed the stock ring did you take the screw all the way out?

It goes over the top of the original trim
