So cool. As an artist I love this so much. Things we create ourselves may look strange to others but when we see them we have the memory of the process and that’s what makes it special 🌱💚🌸
when I was a kid we would do paper mache projects and use a paste that we make that consist of cornstarch and water boiled together that creates this transparent paste. it is really good and you don't need to any anymore glue to it.
I use a cooked flour paste for my paper builds. It's easy to coat it with glue to make it more water resistant but it's not necessary. Edit to add that I used about 1/3 cup flour cooked in a cup or two of water and salt for an entire project. The paste gels and thickens with heat and turns clear when it dries. And yes, if you use paper pulp (you can also use layers of strips), it helps to drain it before adding the paste.
It turned out great. Please keep making these types of videos. I enjoy watching them as crafting is my hobby❤️

I love diying ! I make my own toilet cleaner, laundry detergent or multipurpose cleaner with just vinegar. It's such a satisfying feeling to know that I can make that myself. I remember when I was in primary school in the early 90s, we went to a paper museum where I lived back then and we made our own paper sheets. Ever since I've never made paper again, defo want to get back into it, that would be cool to create wee decoration pieces, or paper to use as christmas/birthday cards maybe, glue some pressed/dried flowers onto it as well might be nice. A few days ago I watched a video by Rachel Maksy (I LOVE her channel) and she created branches with bubblewrap, tape and plaster and paint for the wall, added leaves to it. Currently painting my bedroom and I want to make the faux wooden beams with eva foam that she did. It's not organic and not paper, but for sure fun :)

Actually- it is not good to put cling film on a new tatto. There is a special "foil" that can breath and it is in a bandage form so you wear it for cca 2 days. It makes it heal faster. It is very cool actually. (It is a waste, yes but sometimes you can't avoid it)
That was so much fun to watch! Would love to see more paper based projects. It will fit in well with your quirky/colourful home. Better to be surrounded by objects that say something about your character rather than store bought items that everyone can have
Every month I get a shipment of supplies for my port care/maintenance and medications that are IV routed that go through my port. These supplies and medications are typically packed in a box with a Styrofoam cooler box that actually contains the shipment. Over the course of 3 months I collected 3 of these boxes/coolers and I poked a few holes in each box in a strategic placement to thread wire through to keep the boxes held together and then used the Styrofoam box portion of the coolers for the "drawers" of my ghetto dresser. For me it is perfect to keep my clothes in, in the laundry room, as I have several severe chronic illnesses and I only have so much energy to complete my needed tasks of care for myself and home along with chores such as washing, drying and putting away my laundry. Transfer of my clean laundry to put away in my room just isn't a high enough priority so my clean laundry gets put away into the ghetto dresser that I assembled.
And, before anyone asks, no, I am not able to use an existing dresser of mine as that is what I store my shelf stable medical supplies in (which is ALOT)......
Ghetto dresser, lol! But, seriously, what a creatively smart thing to do. 😼
@@sustainfem while the name I gave my unconventional material sourced dresser is quite funny.... I too loled when I coined the name, the dresser was made out of sheer desperation of not sending so much of these incredibly useful materials as I've already gifted each member of my family who live near me three boxes/coolers, I've given every household in my neighborhood at least one box/cooler but I also needed a dresser made out of something semi sturdy that could be kept near or in my laundry room so that I didn't continue to waste my relatively random amount and incredibly sparce number of "spoons" I get every day.
Spoons is a reference to "energy points" that "spoonies" (those who suffer from chronic illnesses, particularly those who have one or more quite energy draining illnesses and I have like 7- like, I know, SAY WHAT!?!?) severe chronic illnesses- CIDP, CRPS, central pain syndrome, hyperalgesia, allodynia, dysautonomia (this affects nearly EVERY SINGLE autonomic body function except for one- I still have control over when I have a crap which I'm considering a win in my books considering how widely affected my body is as a result of the dysautonomia) and adrenal insufficiency; 1 fairly easy to manage chronic illness- Autoimmune diabetes (like type 1 but didn't initially behaving like type 1 when I was diagnosed with having diabetes and also have depression that is secondary to the combination and sheer mind numbing complexities each illness throws at me.

In fact, at the current time, I'm seriously considering making a new "ghetto dresser" for my room so that I can store the potentially life endangering (for my dog) items I keep on my bed that at current time I either have to go through the huge hassle of moving everything behind a baby gate at my closet or keep him in his dog crate when I have to go out for Dr appointments or necessary grocery runs OR when I have to go for an inpatient hospital stay. While it does take a little bit of work to assemble a ghetto dresser, the final product is very lightweight when empty and if I need to move the dresser once I've put what is needed in the Styrofoam coolers, all I have to do is remove the coolers and move the dresser skeleton (the wired together boxes) and then just slide the coolers back into the dresser's skeleton once it's in the new place for it.
My inspiration for making the "ghetto dresser" was based off of what college students who are hopelessly broke use for makeshift furniture for their first apartments that are typically studio apartments- milk crates and boxes but I just used what I have a relatively never ending supply of as I get at least one new box and cooler a month for my port care/maintenance supplies and IV routed medications in. And at this point, I may very well end up making more of these "dressers" and sell them on Facebook marketplace on the cheap or donate them to organizations in my area that work to find stable housing for the local homeless and any homeless veterans.
I love the “chaos” (it really wasn’t chaotic)…. But it was just diving into something without the fear of imperfection that I think plague a lot of us. So it was nice to see someone just DO something and enjoy the result, and learn from it. I also love what you made!

Tapetklister!/wallpaper glue. It is a powder and you just mix it directly into the pulp. It comes in a plastic bag😉 no flour or salt needed.
You might like to add a varnish(lak) to make it more resistant to water/moisture.

I love this project I think it came out extremely awesome it's so like organic and well very creative I could see me teaching this to my grandchildren as an art project and I did it so yes I'd like to see you endeavor on 2 bigger pieces in which you teach me so I can therefore do with my grandchildren .I just love you, gittemarie.. just an idea: maybe one could use "Kleister" (couldn't find an engish word for it, sorry), the stuff one uses for wallpaper instead of glue, that's how we made paper back in elementary school (paper scraps, water and Kleister). And at least in germany Kleister comes in cardboard

Whats worse is a lot of pulp fodder is not even recycling but literal trash. shredded paper is not recyclable. Maybe you have a different system but in most places you cant recycle shredded paper because it is too small and will mess up the process. You can however turn it into pulp easily and quickly at home.
