there are a lot (way to many) buyers who just can't see beyond Paint on Walls to what a house really is. Thank goodness you can see the idea that a little paint doesn't make a house bad.

Yes we want to build eventually but with the state of the current economy and how expensive everything is that’s probably far off. But yes it’s been the hardest for our generation to buy a home FOR SURE

And pretty damn cool to be able to put down a 50% down payment, all thanks to how hard you've both worked. Well earned life achievement, especially in this economy! Some countries have laws against non citizens owning property but it's cool that the US doesn't have that

Yea!! Congratulations!!🍾🎉 we bought our first home last year and we had the same experience with the lime green walls, mint, pink and purple in the bedrooms. 😮 whoa. We renovated the kitchen and finished the basement and put in new floors. It’s ours and we got to choose the floors, kitchen counters etc… So exciting!😃

Congratulations, that is so exciting and an amazing accomplishment. We painted before we moved into our house too. The previous owner had painted everything salmon which went with their more Tuscan vibe but we do more Mid-Century Mod/Modern. We also took out the drop ceiling in the basement and gained a FOOT of space. Then just last year we redid the fireplace. I love my home and hope yours brings you as much joy.

Congratulations! I know how you feel, I grew up with my mum in rented accommodation. The first house I bought with my husband was something very special. Knowing this was my house, that I could paint it the way I wanted, put a frame wherever I wanted without having to justify was just fantastic! Enjoy the stress of too many good things coming all at once!

Imo i think walls should be more neutral in color so brighter decor can express style and season without have to repaint to match whenever you redecorate. Your brushes😍! are very enticing. Having dedicated spaces for dedicated activities is great, it is ones of the greatest things about a good home.
But please, please, plan 1 day to have movers/a truck for the big furniture! Even if it is like week 2 of the move, have a goal day to move the bulk of things. It helped us a TON with our house and a close friend (I had like 20 minute drive, they had a 4 min walk!)

We just celebrated a year in our house, it was a wild experience to go through. As someone born in 1985, i felt some to never be able to buy a house! I think you need a two salaried partnership to be able to buy a home in most cities in the US, i know i could never done it alone on one salary. And we budgeted and saved for YEARS! 😅 that is AMAZING you were able to put 50% down!!!!!

Speaking as a former home owner in Texas, make sure you check into any possible ways you can lower your property and school taxes. Even if your taxes are paid in escrow, see if there are any ways to minimize them, since taxes can be quite expensive, and you will have to pay both property taxes and school taxes. Congrats on your new home and your release!
