I was born and raised Catholic, but I am no longer Catholic. However, God used Bishop Barron to start to bring me back to the fold. I can totally confirm what Johnathan claims about God providing every daily need. I cried out to God 7 years ago and He saved me. I had to medically retire 7 years ago and GOD provides our every daily need now. Trust Jesus, His yoke is light and He will carry our burdens and make our yoke easy. Thank you Jesus for every blessing. You are my life.

Not surprising. It is a Mormon and Roman Catholic production. Heaven forbid it should bring you to Jesus the one who was crucified and died for you. And to prove it He rose again. He paid it all for your sins, freeing you from the bondage of sin and the wrath of God. But not for your comfort did He die.

I’m a middle school teacher in a Catholic school teaching religion. Last year, I needed to keep my classes focused on school the last couple of weeks for the school year. I found The Chosen on Netflix and began showing it in my classes. ALL OF MY STUDENTS in all 6 classes were immediately drawn to the series. One of my students said if the whole Bible could be told this way, she’d never stop watching. It has made a huge impact in them. They beg to watch it as often as they can. We are anxiously waiting for season 4 to be released…. Thank you for providing this experience and Jonathan for portraying the human side of Jesus with all of His emotions as well as His divinity… God bless you all! Many of them are now following Halo as well!❤️❤️

I have a friend that's almost a year into Christianity but is very "KJV only, Worship music isn't good, churches are just businesses, don't get me started on The Chosen" kind of guy. When we were just having our "once in every few months" talk about God, Jesus, the Bible etc. (which I enjoy and am very blessed that I still have a friend from HS to talk about faith) He briefly mentioned how The Chosen doesn't make people read the bible. 😑
To which I quickly and kindly replied, "It did for me!" If only he truly knew the huge impact this TV show has on 100s of thousands of all kinds of people, whether new to faith like me or some rekindling their faith. I truly believe God presented me this show which has lead me going to & volunteering at the church on Sundays, reading the Bible and Catechism every day, praying the full rosary every day etc.
God has been knocking at my door since I was in middle school, and this show was my breakthrough to get to know Him.

I've read Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Descartes, and many others. But I've only recently begun reading the Bible. And it is whooping my butt. It's so powerful.
I find myself reading from the Old Testament, and then the New, but after 2 months, all I've managed to read is Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, all of John (including 1, 2, and 3), Acts, Matthew, James, and Psalms. It's not because it's too difficult or don't have the time either. I'm trying to digest the words, and in doing so, the world around me is changing, I see scripture everywhere and hear it everywhere, and I'm crushed by the enormity of God's love for us. I wonder if I'll ever be able to read it all and understand it all. It's humbling.

@@TheTenthLeperI realize you're making a point that feelings can steer us wrong. But not all things we feel or intuit are wrong, I think this person is saying that it's a feeling that reminds us of the love of God. I myself was fallen away but searching and wanting God when I started watching this show. I was searching for God, and this show reminded me all the more how attractive and beautiful the love of God is. When you have a perspective that love is always broken, and someone says, "look at Jesus, he loves you and calls to you in your brokenness", that can very well jumpstart your own motivations to keep seeking God. Sometimes God speaks through people, and maybe God has chosen to speak through Jonathan in a very specific way. Actually God often speaks through people. If you're open to the possibility, I'd look up Jim Caveziel talks. He gave a woman a rosary based on something moving him, and she cried and said she had prayed God would send her one after she lost hers. He had no reason to do it, he just felt a strong pull that he should do this. God can work in us!

      Revelation 17:9 KJV

    • @jonathanfairchild
      @jonathanfairchild Před 4 měsíci

@@TheTenthLeperYou're stringing two scriptures together without knowing the meaning. Matthew 23:9 is talking about not giving anyone on earth the respect and authority that should be given to God the Father. Priests are called father as in a spiritual father. The one who leads and instructs the local congregation. They act in persona Christi. Are you telling me that you would take this scripture so rigidly literal that you would refuse to call your own biological father "father"? If your answer is no, then you know that there is nothing wrong with the word "father" and it can be used appropriately. For example, in my bible, NASB, 1 Cor 4:15: "For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel." Priests are fathers as Paul stated. Even in your KJV it says slightly differently, "I have begotten you" instead of "Father". This is still the same idea. Spiritual fathers are called fathers because they bring about children in Christ through baptism. Birthing them into the family of God by being "Born again in water and spirit" (John 3:5). Nurturing their faith through teachings and the sacraments.
As far as Revelation 17:9 I'm certain you are trying to use this as a proof text that the Catholic Church is the W**re of Babylon. This is generally claimed because there are seven hills in Rome and the Vatican sits on a hill in Rome. Well, I hate to break it to you, but the seven hills referred to in Revelation don't even contain the same hill that the Vatican sits on. So, this text does not really have any real-world correlation to the location of the seat of Christ's Church. So that must mean it is referring to something else.
The real hazard of Protestantism is that you can read your bible and come to the completely wrong conclusion. Remember we do actually need a teacher. As stated in Acts 8:26-40 when Philip asked the Eunuch if he understood the scriptures: "And he said, 'Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?'" You obviously think you have the right of what you're saying trying to use the bible to disprove the Catholic Church. However, you wouldn't even have your bible if it wasn't for the Traditions of the Catholic Church. God gave us apostles that created the church. Christ did not give us a bible. The Church, through the gospel writers, empowered by the Holy Spirit, wrote the scriptures and eventually compiled them into the cannon of the bible. This happened around 400AD. The Church that created the Bible would be the most natural ones to teach about it. The cannon of the Bible stood unchanged for around 1100 years until Martin Luther decided to disregard some of the books. The very bible you are quoting from has had books removed from it. So, please understand that you need the church to help you understand what scripture means just as much as the Eunuch did. The Catholic Church has been thinking of these scriptures for 2000 years. That is to say before the Bible was even complied the Catholic Church was studying the scriptures. And I do mean THE Catholic Church. The name Catholic Church dates back to around 110AD. Roughly 300 years before the cannon of the Bible was officially compiled. You are doing yourself a disservice by disregarding some of the greatest minds of history.

As a Protestant, I cannot overstate how much Bishop Barron has helped me in solidifying a theological position as a Christian. Jonathan Roumie, too, has been instrumental in demonstrating the "truest" version of a Jesus depiction I've seen in my life. In my experience, Jesus has always been played as a distant (verging on cold) automaton, or he's been played as a Woodstock-style, flower-crown-wearing Bonnaroo pothead. The intersection of these two people is fantastic. This video is an absolute chef's kiss experience.

What I love about The Chosen so much is how it is a wonderful joint effort among the body of Christ. It brings Catholics and all branches of Christianity together. A Catholic brother plays Jesus, a devout evangelical writes and directs the show, and different denominations of Christians give Dallas council and help him pray and envision the best portrayal of Jesus and the apostle's life that God can give him. It's what the bible tells us to do, and what we most fall short on doing.

We see it a lot more in protestant churches. It shows in lighter songs, in more freedom to clap and dance (in some, but not all churches). There is a balance to be struck, because some churches don't show enough reverence. There is a nice freedom w/ not such a formal liturgy though. I do appreciate Catholic Mass and have attended many. I've been so blessed to do so as an evangelical Christian, because it's rounded out and broadened my faith. I do miss protestant worship. The old hyms are sung in protestant churches, but it's nice to have upbeat songs of praise that bring more joy and smiles too.

His entire portrayal is SO captivating. There’s always one line in each episode that resonates with me, and then, I end up crying. And I cry even more when I think of the ending. My conscious mind always remind me: “Each time we sin, we are guilty of nailing Him to the cross again and again, and again.” With this in mind, I try HARDER every day to be sinless. Jesus said, You must be born again. John 3:3-8. "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
Why? "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter i to the kingdom of God.
That whjch is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of Spirit is spirit." Verses 3:5-6.
Born again is also called regeneration. Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary online.
'Regeneration means; Reproduction, the act of producing anew. In theology, New birth by the grace of God, that change by which the will and natural enmity of man to God and his law are subdued, and a principle of supreme
love to God and his law, or holy affections, are implanted in the heart.'
Humbling isn't it. We cannot do that on our own, even with tons and tons of repenting God.
Jesus said, My words are spirit and life." John 6:63. We cannot walk by the Spirit when we walk by our own understanding, called sin.
Ask God to send the Holy Ghost, Luke 11:13. He will bring your sins to mind. As he does ask Jesus to forgive you. This will be painful, pride hates it!
When you see your desperate need, call out to Jesus to see save you. He came to save sinners.
Then do as the risen Jesus commanded, be baptized. Matthew 28:18-20. Peter preached it. Acts 2:38. ( The followers of Jesus baptized while Jesus still walked this earth. Peter would have bern bsptuzed then). Paul did it. Acts 22:16. John's baptism is a water baptism of repentance.
      Mark 1:1-5, Luke 3:3, Acts 13:24, Acts 19:4.
      Think on Mark 16:16, John 3:3-8, 2 Peter 3:9, Romans 6:3-11, 1 Corinthians 12:13 and Colossians 2:6-15.

I particularly liked the way, for instance, Simon worried about his wife, and the way she reacted to him leaving. Also, Simon's reaction when he almost drowned after walking on water was impeccable. I just can't wait for more! Well done all!

It was so fun to guess/know which gospel story they were telling. I wasn't sure I knew anything about the show before hand besides it was popular.

To have Bishop Barron there was good, to have Jonathan Roumy there was amazing - if Jim Caviezel had shown up, it would've been mind blowing!!

@@whiskeyneat007 I’ve rewatched that scene probably ten times now and it brings me to tears every time.
