I’ve been selling a little over a year on eBay and just opened a store this month. I’ve been torn whether to do returns or not. This has been really helpful information for me. Thank you so much!
im on week 1 of selling on ebay and im doing free returns
never do returns. it just causes more headaches. list ur items accurately, and say sold as is no returns, take good pictures and make sure theres no reason for them to return.
Only accept returns or refunds for items damaged in shipping
Never had an issue on ebay since i started doing this...
@@bababooey1239 Ebay can force returns. No matter what your policy says.
Thank you, Jride. I appreciate your advice and information.
Jacob - i really enjoy your content. You're straightforward. You give excellent advice with appropriate examples, and i truly appreciate that you willingly share your knowledge and experience. Thank you!
Thanks again buddy…. Appreciate all the good tips you provide to us
Yeah, I recently had one of these try to pull a fast one with a lot of four Levi's. He sent multiple messages asking me to private the sale and he would have seventy dollars on Friday to buy them. I told him it was a first come first serve. Then he said "well, it turns out after I lost some weight that they would be too loose."
Yeah, like I couldn't see this from a mile away.
Great presentation. Clear, concise!
Good info...I LOVE the shorter more focused videos...it's not often I have time to watch/listen for an hour...I try to remember to come back and finish but a lot of times I forget which one I was watching and don't go back to it...thanks for your info...
You are amazing! Been binge watching your videos and actually your content is amazing with information that I needed and never thought that I would need it. Literally a life saver!! Thank you! I will be implementing this new info with my eBay reseller life.
Dude you are such a life saver. Thanks for making these videos!
Great info , cheers
New to the channel, just started reselling l my collection from 20 years. I appreciate all the older content and content to come.
I am so thankful for you. I’ve just started selling on eBay and I find your videos very helpful.
Thank you for your video
You are such a blessing. Keep sharing your wisdom
Great video, homie. Very informative. This video would have been very helpful to me 11 months ago so I'm sure there are tons of new resellers that will benefit from it.
Been selling on eBay for 4 years. 2 years as full timer. You pretty much summed up my thoughts 100% accurately on scams and the best return policy for seller protections.
Hello i have a question to ask you
I wish I had known more about scammers when I started but you do learn from your mistakes
Good video, thanks!
Hi Jake. Thanks for another super informative video. I have a quick question regarding returns, Is it a bad idea as a seller to offer returns with "buyer pays" instead of straight up "free returns"? seems like the best of both worlds. Thanks!
Great video! I changed my policy from no refunds to 30 day free return. (Been doing Ebay for 4 weeks) 😀 Thank you for sharing!
Super helpful i think my store sucks these tips will help me thanks man
Loving your videos!
I had the swap happen to me a few years ago and I contacted eBay. They actually shut down the buyers eBay, they might have had him on their radar.
ebay bot accounts are easily made
Thanks for making this video. I recently got got by someone saying the mount was broken on a new opened item. I just refunded the amount to replace the mount. From now on I will just do a full return. I knew it was BS but I just didnt want to deal with it or negative feedback.
ALL WAYS have the buyer return the item!!!
I have the buyer hold onto the item if it's worth doesn't justify return shipping cost. Or if I just feel I owe the buyer extra compensation. But not if It's something I can still sell for a good price.
👍 Thank you Jride Flips.
Block and report all scammers.
Even if I'm not sure, I still report to eBay and let them take a look to see if there is a history of the buyer doing it. If we don't report, it's just allowing them to scam other sellers.
Block all people who return imo unless it was your fault for sure, even then it still might be a good idea to block them. Going through with a return is pretty drastic in my eyes. I've only ever returned two things. One was a inad. Really bad helmet did not match the photos. Other was buyers remorse, phone didn't work for what I wanted & it was buyer paid so I only got like $10 back or so from a $50 purchase roughly. I did back in the day cancel a lot of chinese orders that never came. Few of them came like 3 days after the deadline to report not received, never figured out how to send them their money again since then I though I pretty much never buy anything from china because most things I buy these days I'm hoping l receive in 14 days or less. Maybe the October returns was karma for me getting my couple dollars back from all those chinese goods that arrived a few days passed the deadline. Legit had like a text file I'd check up on and I'd always have chinese orders out constantly for like 3-4 years. Checked it like weekly to make sure to report on time. Now I'm just living and saving up for something much more important than boring none sense. Every once in awhile I do order one cheap product but they all have arrived lately. Also they'd ship missing pieces stuff sealed in the package.
eBay doesn't do ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
you scam on alt bot accounts until that account gets banned, then you just make another one and another and another and another infinity
How do we set up automatic feed back ?
Ebay provides a good service and doorknobs for customer support.
Hey, because of you I have returns set on all my items. I have buyer pays for shipping... should I have it FREE RETURNS?
Let me ask you a question. When you buy lots on eBay, do you look to see if they are a seller also. Like cameras or sunglasses, do you still buy from them? I’m thinking they are selling me junk they can’t sell. I purchased 50 remotes and it was all 2.00 remotes.
Do you recommend having separate buyers and sellers accounts on eBay? Seems like it’s recommended for amazon…
If you Put : Used “As Is” do you still have to give a Full Refund
When you say "free returns" does this include allowing returns but having the buyer pay return shipping cost?
The buyer pays nothing with free returns
Buyer is returning a hat they payed 8$ and 5$ shipping. Said the adjustable one size fits all hat was to small. I am waiting on the item back to issue a refund. Ebay rep told me to refund 15.00 until I raised concerns about the buyer pays shipping then adter a final review the rep said I only need to refund 8.00. I felt it was important to get this in transcript for protection
Yep, I was scammed
I bought cat face flower seeds for $26+ to find out THERE IS NO SUCH THING!!! EBAY will not return my money!
what happen if they return a different item ? happen to me at ebay today ! is really let down for me
I have two negative feedbacks resulting from the buyer being unhappy with the condition of the item. I have free returns which neither buyer wished to engage. Instead, they asked for a partial refund which I refused. They kept the item and still gave me the negative feedback. Anything I can do about that?
Request removal
What do you mean by Unlocking and turning on Free returns? all i see is no returns or returns on each listing.
Once you hit about 40-50 sales a day you'll get about 4 hard scammers and a few amateur soft scammers per day. I had to hire someone just to deal with them each day by calling Ebay and tracking their shenanigans. It's a huge money/time sink, but since Ebay's system does nothing but provide these types of people incentives to do so it will continue as I grow. =/
Scammers are taking advantage of lean times for sellers, who are so excited about a sale after a week or dry weeks that the seller deliriously rushes to complete the deal and is blind to red flags.
Another problem these days is eBay seller support is not nearly as avayas they once were. And it used to be American at the phone banks. Not that there aren't some great support people outside the US (India). But there's no real substitute for other Americans when you're trying to relate the kinds of things seller support involves. And I believe the scammers are taking advantage of this.
Thanks for telling everyone exactly how to get half off every purchase on ebay.
I don't have free returns but I have buyer pays for returns. Do you know what kind, if any, seller protection that is? I've had 2 returns for so far, both for fit
You get all the same seller protections if you're top rated and accept buyer paid returns within 30 days.
If you're just above standard then you have to offer free returns.
One time i've withheld the original shipping from the buyer on a false INAD, they said the zipper was broken on a vest and when I got it back it was perfectly fine. If you get a false inad, make sure to report the buyer so you can get a credit for the return shipping label, assuming you qualify for the protections.
@@mayakoyama9130 awesome. Thank you! I'm definitely inchin my way to top rated. I just need to sell more
@@mayakoyama9130how do you properly report to get credit I had a lot of false inads this year pretty sure I had to pay for most of them.
scammers...send a return to another address (friend) and then claim that they sent the package, shows as shipped back to you but u never got it...u loose.....another send rocks instead of the product.....take parts from an electronic and said that the item is bad...or wear a brand new clothing item and returned dirty and smelling bad or send another item instead...
Honestly never had that happen but I've had customers stick stuff into a box, then hit the box really #&_@ing hard and then return it to make sure it looks like it was damaged on return shipment. Also almost no customer understands void fill or micro scratching. So disrespectful to products. Some sellers are this way as well but I leave it be when it comes to sellers. I used to message them but I realized they think I'm trying to get something out of them rather than just inform them that they're being careless with nice stuff.
dishonesty goes both ways...sad but it is what it is...long time ago we the sellers have the right to protect ourselves from scamers...now the scamers can do whatever and the ebay protection is a joke..no matter what seller ends loosing money and ebay have their fees, their money so why bother with sellers rights...@@Bawkr
Hi i was wondering if anyone can help me out i bought an item on ebay and it says shipped but when i open tracking it says pre shipment i search what it means and it just say that shipping label is made but item is not received i tried contacting seller about it and they told me that they dont know why the last two weeks he mailed out hasn't update and that the shipping only updates one delivered
Twice I have handed in parcels to the Evri collection store and later it turns out that a parcel did not get beeped and into the system , it’s lost forever then , you know you posted it but have no proof
I disagree with you on the free returns Jake. It promotes that Amazon, "ill return it even if nothing is wrong for full refund" mentality. Companies are starting to fight back because of the amount of loss and at least some charge return shipping or are thinking about a fee.
This is what I'm wondering about. I got hit with a %25 return rate or so for a two week period this October. Man that stung like you would not believe just hearing 1/4th. Because it wasn't the cheap sales that got returned. Mostly medium priced ones. Lindey Glen just recommended dropping top rated plus if your stuff isn't flying off the shelf. I just changed mine to buyer paid returns I was desperate for something better than paying for all this @ing buyer fault shipping costs. That's what really hurts the most for me, especially when they ship it back in a giant freaking box with no padding.
@nicm2610 I hear you! I offer buyer paid returns on clothing and shoes only. That's it!
Please explain how having feedback prevents you from being scammed as opposed to having very little feedback? I don't understand the connection. Please explain.
1/4th of my sales were returned in mid October and that pushed me over %2 for the year. Dark dark times, really hurt mt cash flow but I didn't get taken out by those narcissists. F'k em. %100 think you are right but what about buyer paid returns?? Like to hear thoughts on that.
Part harvesters are the only scam that I feel you can’t do much about, eBay seller protections in this case are hit and miss. It’s hard to prove an item was opened and parts were swapped or removed. Only good thing is it’s happened to me 3 times, in the grand scheme of things it’s not a huge deal, but it is disheartening when it happens as it’s usually on expensive higher end electronics.
It's always a $&_#ing ebay bookstore too. They're the worst. Multiple different ones. Buying stuff and either leaving dicey feedback or swapping out internal parts that are not easy to photo.
Do you have your employees have full access to your eBay account when they ship the orders for you?
only way to win is to not play, I moved a lot of my stuff off ebay and onto facebook marketplace where I meet in person for cash, no forced returns and refunds and no chargebacks
not sure why you need feedback to ignore a scammer
As a eBay purchaser I bought a lot of things on eBay or the couple years and just recently I bought a new treadmill $95 I thought no big deal and I thought nothing of it. Well next day it shipped 3 days later it was delivered to my post office to a locker box. I called the postal service. She said it's a 4 oz box address to someone in my town, not my address. That is why it's in a locker box because that customer owns the locker box. I reported the buyer. I had to wait a couple days then I asked eBay to step in and they rude in the seller's favor because it says it was delivered. Wow! I'm going to Amazon and will never come back
Thanks for the informative video. So far I've been fortunate and not had any issues with my buyers.
I sold. A pair of curtains about £40 heavy good clean ones , when she got them she said they smelled of smoke and would need cleaning and what was I going to do about it , I said it would be far to expensive to get them cleaned( more than they cost) and i did not want to trouble her, so I would accept a return , although I did not smell smoke ,and as a none smoker I can smell any smoke , she never replied , she was just hoping 8 would offer a reduction to save paying for the return , I called her bluff
Ebay has a poor return policy.
I bought some recipes for a Penny, I think.
Do not sell on eBay. They hold your money 2 weeks. Earning interest on your money.
Great video reminder for all
Sup j ride 😮
its funny. 400 positive feedbacks as a buyer means NOTHING. 400 positives as a seller means everything.. ebay unfortunately doesnt differentiate.
TOOK A SCREEN SHOT😂 How can a man get 2.7 thousand views but have 22 thousand thumbs up???? CZcams being naughty again? Heads up Jride👌it appears they're shadow banning you or whatever they call it👍

Thanks for sharing you have a blessed day in the name of Jesus Christ.
Thanks for the tip about offering free returns !
I went to my scammers address
Got refunded in full in cash
Funny looking bloke
Had two black eyes

I have noticed book sellers, advertising a premium copy of books, and sending the sellers a wrong book, putting the blame on ISBN numbers, and when the buyer is unhappy, the seller offers a partial refund way too easily. Is this some sort of seller scam in itself?
When I sold on Facebook marketplace I would get asked for my email and phone number, I would state that I do not give that info out. On ebay, I have yet to be asked that so far, knock on wood.
I think he’s a paid advertiser for EBay - or just a fanboy
