    I love mine, a 1964 in old english white. It has a radio which is never used, the sound of the exhaust is the only music I need.

    Love the Daimler 250 v8 , you need to sort out the stabilization on the video though , audio was a bit iffy too in places , apart from the tech issues , content was good , keep it coming

      Thanks Gary - yes, I know, only just started doing in car filming and still working out what tech to use. Doesn’t help when the camera is suckered to a rather rattly classic car window! I think the wobbles and audio blips are connected. Will be trying a gimbal soon - although that adds weight. đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™‚ïž

    Ah, the baby Daimler!
    My brother briefly had one - Old English White with a manual box if I remember correctly. A lovely car and I maintain the 250 V8 is the sweetest running V8 ever made - such a shame it wasn't used in more cars.

      @@matthewchannel9981 Sorry for my english, but I'm french, nobody's perfect. Yes I retain the column shift, with little modification for reverse light, starter inibitor.. No need to change the diff ratio as first, second and third gear are the same on the two gearbox. But th ZF has a fourth gear that allow 130 KM/h at 3300 rpm.

    The story is that this was tried with the 4.5 litre V8 from the Majestic Major. It fitted cleanly into the engine bay of the MkII and produced a very, very rapid car..... But Jaguar were unhappy to countenance the production and sale of a Daimler that was faster than their own big XK-powered MkII.
    I have no idea whether this is true, but it makes a good story and if made, it must have been a wonderful car.
    The only MkII I ever drove was a very late 240 and despite the reputation for mild disappointment it was a fabulous place to be and by no means slow at the time (early 80s).

    • @VincentComet-l8e
      @VincentComet-l8e Pƙed rokem

      Despite being an OHV engine, the Daimler V8 was a much better choice than the DOHC straight-six as it was significantly lighter and transformed the handling. And also the acceleration and top speed too, the V8 doing 113mph compared to the 102mph of the 2.4 XK unit.
      Jaguar actually dropped the 4.5 litre V8 into a Mk.10 for testing. And with just a makeshift carb set-up it instantly eclipsed the 120mph maximum of the 3.8 XK engine (which was identical to the unit fitted to the E-type)
      The V8 gave much better acceleration and would lap MIRA at 133/134mph 'all day long'. Obviously, with just a little development it would have gone faster still. Which would have been rather embarrassing for Jaguar

    Am pleased to say that not long after leaving college in 1980 me and 2 buddies bought one together after our first 3 months stint working in a factory in Holland. We toured all around Europe from Uk to Southern France during the summer before starting another contract at the factory in Holland in the Autumn.. Think about it..Three 22 year old 'hippies' with long hair, ear rings, cruising around Europe in this thing ( which we bought for ÂŁ800 )!!! Amazing times.. despite eventually writing it off in a crash racing it against a freinds VW Beetle, in the Black Forest hills near my Granny's flat, on a Friday evening , on our way to the club in Freiburg called 'Der Rote Punkt'.. Oh to be young and reckless again !!..lol..!!!???

    I have only just become aware of these again and I do like them price wise they seem to vary widely depending on condition I could afford it but there is no room in the garage so it would be on the drive which seems sacrilege, I drive a Lexus IS300H Hybrid which I think shares the quite limo qualities of the Daimler and although it does have maroon leather seats it cant compete with the beautiful wooden dash and gauges of the 250, thanks for the video and thanks for making me aware of those classic car driving experiences I might try one of those and get this hankering out of my system.
