- UK Host Joanna Higgins. What's the secret if survival on Britain's high street? Try delegating control to your managers. John Timpson, chairman of 143-year-old shoe repair and locksmiths chain Timpson, explains the concept of "upside down management"
This is the nicest boss in the world and the same for his son James… I have worked 9years in Timpson and love every single day…..
I've just had my interview, waiting to hear back. Fingers crossed, I love the concept, hope I get the chance to see it in person
Has YOUR Timpson dream come true?
MrIvorfan I passed my initial training, loved my job, the way the company worked and I was set to take on my own kiosk. Unfortunately I broke my hand shortly before takeover, so I was unable to run solo as I was restricted to phone repairs, watch repairs, engraving, key cutting and paperwork, but didn't have strength or dexterity to work on shoes. Which was fine in a bigger branch, but it was felt to be unnecessary for me to assist in my current branch, so regrettably I resigned to find a job I could do while recuperating, so I could support my new wife and soon arriving son.
Best company to work for
Looking at this video, 6 years on, I'm happy to say, that I think the service to customers; and standards to which Timpson's employees should aim for, have remained high.
