I have traveled to Ghana, West Africa five times and Mombasa, Kenya, East Africa one time. I had traveled between the years of 1995-2005 through 2012. Our ancestors who came to the West Indies on slave ships, did not lose their culture. I am grateful to see that St. Kitts-Nevis still embrace this cultural dance that is still present and active in West Africa. That's where we all are descended from. I hope the African=-Americans whom I live amongst will acknowledge this dance.
Excellent legacy of culture shared on sacred and historical grounds in St. Kitts. Our ancestors and all who share in this experience, honor the spirit and traditional rites of Indigenous, African, Caribbean, "West Indian" people and humanity as expressed within Kittian culture! This video shares the consistency and continuity that Sylvester's Masqueraders share at home and abroad for we remember their performances in St. Croix & the Virgin Islands too! Excellent! A'se!
this has brought back the memories of the 1960's and early 1970's when i attended sandy point secondary high school from form 1 to 5. i am very impressed to see that st. kitts still maintain its cultural dance besides all the negative things i heard about crime. when i began to look on youtube, it is not that bad. there are still a lot of fun. crime is every where. i used to climbed to the top of brinstone hill when i lived in sandy point.
