Hvitserk embodied Ragnar's struggle with fate and free will. He was always conflicted but in the end, I think he managed to find some semblance of peace knowing he did not have to choose in absolutes.
His last battle was awesome. Probably the most single battle on screen kills from one character throughout any tv show I’ve ever seen.

You are a 110% right, no character on Vikings had the killing spree Hvitserk got in the last fight, he was surrounded by saxons shouting 'Hes ragnars son, kill him', I counted 20 kills for Hvitserk, what a beast
I feel like ragnars peronality and life is split into his sons, when you combine all the qualities, fqiliures ,and personalities of his sons, you will get ragnar as the outcome.

This the best Hvitserk edit I have seen so far great work, this could have been even better if you had made a separate part of Hvitserk’s battle kills, how he fought and all in this video, it would have made this edit perfect but nevertheless this was too good.

I hope in the future other than Vikings Valhalla, that they do a spin off about Ubbe and Hvitzerk and what happened afterwards as they never met each other again or made up properly

@@flacko9333 Uhtred seems to always be tied by a deep sense of loyalty, and will put it above personal feelings or goals towards something. Hvitserk has no loyalties, he moves to whoever suits him the most at the time.

In the Viking TV series, Hvitserk is facing a dilemma, which the viewers has no idea if he is happy with his new life or he is deceitful !?!? In the series, Hvitserk is being shown as Guthrum. In history, Hvitserk was probably killed by the Anglo-Saxons, the same year as with the defeat of the Viking Warlord Guthrum and his Great Viking Army ...
Yeah I know that Vikings TV series isn't made entirelly as it was in real life...I am just sayimg that He is such umderrated character and as son of Ragnar Lothbrok they should have get Hvitserk or if you like Halfdan in real life some more space to develop...not Just made him as drunk bloodlust viking...

Theres nothing wrong with critiquing a TV show. All art is up for debate. Don’t lie as if you haven’t thought a series should have had changes. Hvitserk muddled the storyline. We didn’t need the death of his love interest. He didn’t need to be an alcoholic and accidentally kill a major, leading character.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but your arguments just make no sense. The death of his love interest by Ivar fuelled the rage in Hvitserk against Ivar, which led to their rocky relationship. The show runners wanted them 2 to have that sort of relationship to make their final days together in the battlefield even more emotional, both brothers realising they acc love each other.
His addiction and alcoholism depicted the same addiction Ragnar had when he went to Paris for the second time. It’s supposed to symbolise Ragnars state of mind. And Hvitserk came out even better after his addiction, finding peace in the end. Hvitserk is like Ragnar because a traumatic moment in their life (death of thora and Athelstan) led them to addiction and they finally found peace after.
Lagerthas prophecy was she’ll be killed by a son of Ragnar. Bjorn loved her too much, ubbe made a pact with her, it was too obvious for Ivar to kill her, so Hvitserk was the only one left. The show runners wanted to symbolise the end of the golden age of the Vikings and beginning of a new age. Lagertha and bjorn were part of the old age, and they both had to go. So it only makes sense for Hvitserk to kill her unintentionally.
So, for the show to fulfill prophecies and symbolisms, Hvitserk was a crucial component in that task. Capiche?????

Hvitserk, for me, was exactly as you say...unnecessary, underdeveloped and just a boring character they couldn't make me care about. But Siggurd was the worst. Just completely unlikable and annoying lol
@@theleperking9607 I mean I know Vikings as a show didn’t give a fuck about actual history lol but had they kept Sigurd and made him less unbearable there was a lot of story potential for him from a historical stand point whereas Hvitserk didn’t even actually exist.

Ivar was a teenager in the show, I think we first meet him when he’s about 16 and dies at 20. Hvitserk is like 22-23 by the end of the show. They’re also both Danish.
