  • The Sahara Desert is one of the most extreme environments on the planet. Being the hottest desert in the world, it spans over 11 million square kilometers. It's larger than the continent of Australia.
In the region near South Western Morocco, they receive less than 5.2 inches of rainfall per year. In this region 60% of people do not have running water in their homes. And the water they do have may not be safe to drink.
The lack of water makes life difficult, and the severe droughts make farming unpredictable. Wells are drying up because the levels of ground water are decreasing.
As of 2022, about 40% of the population faces water shortages. This means that there are over 2 billion people that do not have safe drinking water. However, there is a new technology that is turning the water situation around.
In this video, we will show you how water is being created in the Sahara region of south west Morocco. This system provides safe, clean drinking water to thousands of people in the Sahara. These fog nets are helping collect clean water!
