Ezio does have a Batman vibe to him. Rich (kind of), tons of gadgets, badass, ladies' man. They have too many similarities.
Ezio owned most of Rome and still had florins left over, which are now worth several hundred to thousand dollars today. Ezio was extremely rich.

Because Desmond is in the animus and he links his thoughts to Ezio and Altair, it shows us how Desmond can lose himself (a little bit) in the animus because of the bleeding effect, by seeing the same place he remembers the thoughts off both character, it has a "cientific explanation" not just because the producer wanted to make sure people understood that they are from different times.

It's part of "The Mentor" Robes from Rome, since he's not the rank of Master Assassin, as he was promoted during the events of Brotherhood.
That's why he doesn't have the "Master Assassin" robes from the Ottoman sect of the Assassins. (Though he does receive them later on in the game)
I would so love them to make a mini series on adult swim or just something we're its a tie in the the games..... I love assasin's Creed!

Jonathan Griffiths Ahmet was a Templar, but that doesn't mean every Ottoman guard was. Even in the modern story, Abstergo are the Templars, but not every member is a Templar.

There actually was an order of assassins based at Masyaf (begun around 1080), but the Mongols destroyed the order around 1275 (Altair and his Apple must've been on vacation that month).
The Knights Templar were real, but were eradicated in 1308 by order of Pope Clement V. The Templars were a secretive bunch, leading to many legends and myths about their activities (though most of them are untrue).
