I am a 60 year old prog rock fan. I have been reawaken after a 30 year slumber.
Hell yeah my nugget
Yessir
What took so long :b \m/
Nice I like that sound of that, definitely listening to it all!
We are back brother.
I wasn’t 100% sure at first, but after 7 listens I can confirm that this album is an absolute masterpiece.
Te atrapa
that's true
Better every time .. it was about listen 7 when I said I know this sick drummer .. was like WTF it's Marco
That's prog for you. I had the same experience recently with Devin Townsend's Empath. Took me around 8 or 9 listens to start really soaking it in.
Listened to it live! You only need to listen to it once, trust me!
Not an easy one to whistle...
I'm still wringing my lips trying!
Was like "the whole tune?" and thennn - "Too toot tootley too toot tootoot" o.o
XD ahhh I see now.
I was loving the music so much and when I saw this comment I laughed to tears.
Tried to fart this one out just shit my pants
I particularly like the Thomas the Tank Engine album art.
Looks a bit like 3 hairy arseholes though
JOKE im not judging the album sound theyre talent.lol
Thomas on a bad trip album art.
This can't be unseen
Have you never seen The Moon's twisted, shocked face? Look to the sky on the right night dudo. 😉
Just before he hits the buffers when hung-over..
'has a good beat and easy to dance to' said NOBODY listening to Steven Wilson. the masses be damned.
I recognize alot of Opeth in this album
Steven Wilson, Guthrie Govan, Alan Parsons, Marco Minnemann... Impossible not to be awesome!
I couldn't expect anything less from these guys! 4 heads are better than 1. This is a masterpiece. . . . Sorry, did I overkill the period? ...
DONT FORGET THESES WONDERFUL PEOPLE !!! Bassist/stick Nick Beggs Theo Travis playing saxophone/flute, and Adam Holzman on keyboards.
@@thenarproject7186 Thanks for the completion 👍
The only album I've got that is magically rewritten and re-recorded every night so when I listen to it again it's a whole new set of songs....
The song "The Raven That Refused To Sing" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
To him is the best work of his entire career.
i've cried for this song at three different wilson s concerts ;)
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Watchmaker is such a good song dude
The ending is the best music I've ever heard
Clicked on it because I was curious...
Boy do I have good intuitions.
That Guitar solos on Drive Home is quickly going up my list of best solos.
Yes it sure does. With every listen.
inspired by a lonely sweet /swede ;)
**goosebumps**
Every.. single.. time..🤩
Guthrie Govan doesn't waste notes!
This, to me, is Steven's Stairway to Heaven, or Child in Time...
The quality of this album is indescribable, but in my opinion, the last two songs are simply perfect. All the others are good, but the last two, man....
For sure
the watchmaker is just perfect
especially part after 41:20, piano is just perfect there
Hearing a lot of Pink Floyd, ELP, Yes, and King Crimson in this one. Very nice.
It's like Jethro Tull mixed with Pink Floyd.
After listen to this album I feel sorry for those 101 people. I really do.
I must say the cover image was a barrier but the most inspiring prog I ever heard since the 1980th.
PROG magazine listed this CD number 9, in all time best prog rock albums!!! Congratulations Steven, your work is so appreciated by us.
I got my Dad this album on Vinyl! :)
Perfect album conception. Somewhere between King Crimson and Rush
The Raven That Refused to Sing never fails to make me cry
17:23 The most amazing guitar you will ever hear.
Allan Holdsworth did it better.
@@captainredbeard7933 finally somebody who uses a real example of a better guitarist. It's arguable, but at least you didn't say Satriani or Vai.
My comment was a little snide, but I really think that Holdsworth did it better. Still, it's really good. I can't play like that.
This has a post "court of the crimson king" feel. Like an eldritch being that even the crimson king cant defeat has surfaced
It certainly got that "Epitaph" vibe
This album is simply one of the best of all progressive rock albums in history, a must listen for every person who listen prog in this world
It's the genius of Steve Wilson. Without heresy .... I am sure that if he had been born in 1700 his name would have been next to Bach, Mozart, Beethoven ....
Love the drumming.
10 years later and still the greatest Steven Wilson solo album ever
Holy shit the musicians here!!! This should be know around the world instantly!
Ohhh only if the mainstream had such taste...Too much deep, complex and fucking good!!!
CZcams recommending a good album??
Guthrie Govan is on it?!!! :O
No wonder the guitars sound amazing.
yesterday 16th January I attended to the Steven Wilson's show in Madrid. One of the experiences, musically talking. He was very close with the audience and friendly too. Great musicians. As he said in the show, life is a gift and I think his music and behaviour too. If you like his music congratulations, if you don't...open your mind and enjoy it.
Oh, eres hispanohablante?
The intro to Watchmaker has such nice Gentle Giant vibes
The Pin Drop is just perfect. I think that song deserves more love
I was thinking the same thing
It seems less focused yet deceptively powerful
The title track popped up due to CZcams's algorithms. And listening to that haunting track lead me here. What a wonderful journey.
Holy crap this is incredible.
Seriously Guthrie Govan is becoming a legend
He has been for a while now.. A Guitarist's Favorite Guitarist. See The Aristocrats, for more confirmation...!
Yep and he deserve it
Lol becoming? He already is
aristocrats are touring! got my tix ♫ GG#1
Blistering sustainiac solo in "Drive Home". Gets me every time.
The title track is an incredible piece of stunning music. Steven is litterally a genius, i didn't know him until one year ago, incredible....THANKS TO MY FRIEND ALBERTO for all that!
The best thing I have heard since the seventies.
39:25 a solo section so good i still remembered the time stamp a year later
This Album is Everything Great about the last 50 yrs in Music \m/
Perfect description
Really love the outro artwork after 47 min
Modern 70's prog rock.
A great rock symphony piece. Will ever be a classic!
That first track was the glory of every great Prog song in one. I heard King Crimson, Yes, UK, Genesis, etc. Then track two starts channeling ELP. Dang!!
Don't forget Jethro Tull with that flute.
Gentle Giant as well
Pure Masterpiece !!! Guthrie Govan, Marco Minneman, Adam Holzman, Nick Beggs, Theo Travis and, of course Steven Wilson at their best, no doubt !!!
feed the trolls says Beggs
Holy drinker, what a song!
Rock on!
This is a perfect album, no doubt
Cant wait for the new SW album
Modern Prog at it's best. He draws on the legacy left behind by Crimson & Yes but makes it uniquely his own. That mellotron is chilling.
Masterpiece
Recommended by Niamh The Prog Nerd's Dad. So...listening now.
Yep me too. He has an incredible ear for music.
Me too, and I am so thankful they have lead me to this album.
An incredibly brilliant album. Steven is a genius!
Insurgentes is still my fav, but this album is sublime. Invoking the Melletron is masterful. I hear Robert Fripp all over this album.
(Pink Floyd)(Rush)(Yes) a great mix FANTASTIC🤘🤘
Whewwwww.... so glad I happened across this.
(Weird too, I found it in my search for Killing Joke's "Death & Resurrection Show")
Reminds me of Dream Theater too in some pieces :)
Trying to expand my Prog horizons, I had not hear of this album before - but what an album! A new favourite on first listen. Incredible!
Delighted hearing this. With my headphones and eyes closed, i really feel traveling to another dimension, the same of the old-school 70's prog rock. Greetings everyone.
OMG!!!
God... the Acketfelt influence. Those two synergize particularly awesome. Need a collaborative release from them.
Happy 6th Birthday to the best album released by Mr. Wilson so far.
Hand Cannot Erase isn't 6 years old.
@@thorhbar1255 hahaha good one, still i prefer this o er hand.cannot.erase but home invasion it's purest greatness
so you sing happy birthday to albums do you get a card with a number on and have a party
This album got me straight from the beginning.
There is creative blended with catchy melodys and great playing.
Then from nowhere comes a song with the greatest guitar solo I have heard for many years.
Mabye ever.
With today's technology it is rare that I get impressed with a guitar solo.
The lack of feeling is so obvious.
But in this case the feeling is so present.
Great work Steven Wilson
Which solo you referring to?
Drive home.
Over all its great guitar playing on this album.
But the way he is stretching and gliding the notes.
Are both beautiful and exciting.
@@chrisseger6420 thank you!
@@chrisseger6420 Guthrie Govan is a wizard on the strings :)
I didn't know the album that well when I went to see them play live in Pittsburgh. I was pretty close to the stage, and Guthrie came to the front for that solo. This was a song I'd written off as slow, and dull, but that solo was the best moment of the entire night. Guthrie showed what a legend he was that night, and got a lifelong fan in me.
VERY VERY GOOD..........................................................
Best solo Wilson album hands down.
Opening bass riff - I hear Yes, "I Am a Camera".... slashing guitar chords come in, I hear Rush, "The Body Electric"...
Utterly, utterly wow! I can't believe I should pass 65, before a random algorythm pointed me to Porcupine and Wilson...
Hypnotic bass line Luminol......f*** its amazing!!!
44:44 reminds me of a certain canadian airport!
How have I never got this? Rush is my favorite band ever
An empty spot was always present in PT after the departure of Chris Maitland and that hole was vocal harmonies. SW's solo work has to my ear re-found those harmonies and I so enjoy hearing them again.
This album moves me like no other. I can't explain why, I just know that it gets me every single time.... Musical perfection.
The MAC truck that slammed into me moved me like none other; it was not perfection
Drive home solo = goose bumps...
I think that such a BEAUTIFUL LP could only be born from the depths of the deepest and most remote mid-70s! We are so sure that S.W was only born in 1968.....well! Stuff to resurrect King Crimson!
Just one word - BRILLIANT
I agree, while only at the first quarter at the first spin of this album, not that many albums that make it into my sublime-at-first-listen list
Well, there are a million words for how incredibly awesome this is. Actually, there aren't enough words to describe it... But brilliant... Yes, brilliant is one.
one of wilsons purest albums for me..amongst many predecing masterpieces.... and i was with him right up to this album......
the albums that came after this for me ..... and who the fuck am i? no one...
where just good....
not breathtaking ...which is a word that in my world , follows this great man...
the man is a genious
thank you for the music my friend...
This album is a true masterpiece!!
the last song is the diamond piece her- keeps me going at work after 9 hours still..............
what an album, perfection in every aspect of the word
One of the best albums in existence, hands down, and memelord Fantano gave it a 5/10 and branded it as "lacking passion". xD
@@TooTsaka
I mean, for me it's trying really hard to be King Crimson, but for me this album is a 9/10. Masterpiece.
@@jooree7696 They're way more melodic than king crimson. Sometimes KC uses odd time signatures and ugly progressions just because they feel like it. This album is more appealing to the average person
Top tier, maybe one of the best I've ever heard
Amazing
good good
can't stop repeating whole album
The thing that disturbs me about his music is that I can relate to it right away and it moves me,the lyrics, sound, even the visuals. Excellent!
This is heaven. For me anyway.
This is something unique.
The best album in all Wilson's career.
also, this is the kind of music that instantly makes me feel like I'm looking back on my life, even the present and future.
Real talent
Got some Zappa vibes from this one
Can't believe being a Yes, Genisis, Floyd & the such fan my whole life. I'd never heard of Porcupine Tree & Steven Wilson before!! Although the Tree has alittle more soul than his solo stuff, as opposed to straight up prog on the solo stuff. Now I know why he's the big remaster guy they all choose. Cool shit man!
Oh, I just wish that I'd heard this before now. What a masterpiece, the whole thing.
A GENUINE PROG MASTERPIECE. WELL DONE MR WILSON ! THE OLD PROG GIANTS OF THE 70'S ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU, I GUESS YOU KNOW THAT :)
Thank you YT algorithm for placing this in my path! Woo!
Yesss❤️
Steven deserves the title of prog prince! He is genial, so as the musicians surrounding him.
I swear the title track gives me "Pyramid Song" vibes. That's a compliment, by the way.
Possibly the best album ever released. So like not bad.
What a fantastic line!!!! Bravo.
it's getting better and better everytime i listen to it.
Hauntenley beautiful music,
