She did then make a joke after about "is that why you don't want me at your house?" Which was just cringey.... Considering when she first ask him he laughed and so O.K....
It was his opinion whether anyone likes it or not, and at least it sounds like he was being honest and genuine and it sounded like he might have regretted missing the opportunity later. Also take into account that Cliff is not a trendy youngster anymore...he is 83 years old, give the man a break.

Coming from a pound shop impersonator of Elvis, you'd have thought whatever condition he was in he'd have been absolutely blown away to have his picture taken with him .... what a shallow individual!
Cliff loved Elvis of the 50s, not the older, fatter Elvis of the 70s. Maybe he was worried that if he met that Elvis it would somehow ruin his earlier perception of him? They do say that you should never meet your idol because you'll be let down....maybe that's what he meant, but it came out as 'it wouldn't be a good photo on my fridge'.
That was a horrible thing to say about Elvis. If you've admired someone it doesn't matter how they look, you'd just love to meet them.
Agree, never had a bad impression of Cliff but I thought it showed a shallow side to him in his younger days, none of us are perfect I guess

My how time flies i’m a GenXer so my into to sir cliff on the other side of the pond was as a little girl hearing we don’t talk anymore on the radio i’ve since grown to respect the british pop icon that he is and as a huge elvis fan too i think he could have said his elvis comment a bit better- i think its been misunderstood - but even to the very end elvis never lost that voice of his

When the time comes that Cliff leaves this world all of the radio stations will start playing his music again. I think all of the stations that do not support him now should be banned from playing his music as they are not supporting him now. This Christmas I have not heard any of Cliff's Christmas songs played. Shame on UK Radio Stations. I did hear his music on an online station called Rockin Daddys Radio.

I have met Cliff at a wedding years ago and he was absolutely lovely, very funny and down to earth the whole day. I dont think he was malicious at all here. Elvis was amazing either way.
Alison is fantastic, and very quick witted ,she hasnt put on weight though shes always been that size, i think Cliff idolised Elvis and thats why he preferred him at his best 😉
Its not that bad. Besides being overweight isnt healthy and before anyone comments ive been overweight and my knees prefer me less heavy! It doesnt mean anyone is worth anyless for being heavier. Everyone calm down.

Elvis was a stunning looking man, with a fabulous voice, far superior to Cliffs, even when Elvis was ill his voice was so rich and beautiful.
Somebody from Corrie talked about Cliff’s weight so he new he didn’t want to look chubby anymore so didn’t want Elvis to look like he did

Not really a fan of his, but do admire for speaking his mind about Elvis here regardless of the consequences. Sad that having a perhaps controversial opinion and vocalising it is such an admirable trait these days, though.
When cliff was questioned I don't think his negative comments was at Elvis. He just wished he met Elvis in person. I don't like it when people speak negative towards cliff. Cliff looks amazing and I congratulate him for his book, album and singing for 65years he is a legend. I love everything about him.

I met Cliff Richard when I worked in a 5 star hotel during uni. He’s an absolutely lovely man and never wanted to be treated like a celebrity. He had his dinner in the restaurant after he performed a show. He ate a very light dish of beef in red wine sauce with a small amount of mash. He chatted with the restaurant manager while eating. He’s a class act all the way.

Strange that Cliff has told this story countless times since the early 1980s and it has never been an issue before. Says more about the world today where everyone finds offensive at everything.

Elvis had been Cliffs idol since the 1950s and he’d looked healthy and fit up until around 1972 when he started to put on weight. Most people thought it was just it was just a stage in Elvis’s life as his unhealthy lifestyle wasn’t documented until after his death. Cliff thought he’d sort himself out as the change had happened so quickly, very similar to what happened with George Michael.
Rewatching the interview it’s obvious the presenters were told by the production team to mention Elvis as it just comes out of the blue and knowing what Cliffs response would be so they could react.
This Morning really is a vile programme.

Whether people like or dislike what Cliff said, he appeared to be being honest, and honesty seems to be becoming more scarce in a world of fakenes. So in today's world you can only say what you think people want to hear ? PS. Did Alison earlier in the interview make a less than complimentary remark about EMI America, like what do they know, but that is okay ???? Dual standards folks IMO.
