  • The Pack 'N Cool is a do-it-yourself refrigerated trailer that agricultural producers can use as a model for building their own versions. It is designed to keep fruits and vegetables at ideal temperatures during transport, which can optimize quality and shelf life. The Pack 'N Cool unit combines the mobility of a cargo trailer with the refrigeration capabilities of a commercial cooler, but at a more cost-efficient and flexible price point.
The unit was developed by faculty with the N.C. State University Plants for Human Health Institute (PHHI). Dr. Penelope Perkins-Veazie, professor and postharvest physiologist with PHHI, and Louis Wojciechowski, lab technician with Perkins-Veazie's research team, coordinated the effort to develop the unit. Detailed instructions, photos and a sample budget are available at plantsforhumanhealth.ncsu.edu.

NC State with a good simple solution. I am working on the refrigeration unit for my trailer and this is the direction I am headed.
