This feud between an abandoned, severely depressed and broken child and a hypocritical, emotionally immature woman trying to raise someone as an afterthought is tiring and serves no purpose. Aaron will never have closure and Chas will never learn.
He's definitely a child in so many ways. Regression when you have unprocessed trauma and abandonment issues is not uncommon. Aaron never had an actual childhood, let alone one where he was raised with support and security, he's had to rely destructive ways to survive. After everything he's been through it's a miracle he's still standing. Chas left him in the hands of an abuser, abandoned him again for Carl King, drove him out of the village when Liv died just to protect her own dirty secret. He's lost Jackson, Robert, Liv, Faith. So yeah, he's definitely had enough "experiences" and no healthy means to deal with any of it, hence the lashing out and regression. He never had the opportunity to actually be a child in a safe environment, it's understandable that his behaviour around Chas is often that of a hostile kid.
Maybe if she actually changed for real like Fay did. Cain eventually forgave Fay for abandoning him and Chas. It took a lot of work on Fay's part to earn his trust and love again
