To be fair, Sims gets nowhere near the respect he deserves. Best mixer of all time and one of the greatest selectors ever. Stayed playing techno through all the years when 99% of all the other techno guys sold their soul to play minimal and tech house. A legend

At least there are still real Techno wariorrs like Glenn Wilson,D.A.V.E. the drummer,Cari Lekebush,Chris Liberator,James Ruskin,Rebekah….

I warmed up for Ben Sims and he came on used the effects, killed the last track I played and within his opening 5 mins mixed three tracks together that had no bass, dropped the bass and the place went wild. I said thanks for that, you just wiped the floor with my whole set in five mins. He laughed and said your set was good I enjoyed it. really nice guy. He is the fastest I have ever seen cue up a track and get the timing bang on, through in the vinyl and never touch it again for the whole mix. proper mixing.
Yeah, first met Ben Sims and his amazing techno in a basement club on Oxford Rd, Manchester. I had ad exec job, i'd bring in a change of clobber and sneak back into the broom cupboard, when it was lights out at the bar. Nothing beats techno, and the shite they listen to now is just that shite.
I was there that night. Late 90's I think it was. It was at the Primate night. He went in to Vinyl Exchange and spent £400 on funk the next day. Vinyl junkie, Sound AF, and best in the business. Lived through it all.

the first time i heard ben play was a new years eve many many years back at the orbit leeds.and has you can imagine he smashed it playing three decks to perfection the second time was at global gathering yet again he smashed it......he is a true legend who has not sold his soul to the £££££££.....these days he still has the passion to dj with sets so tightly mixed as you can see he is using the mixer......take note up and coming djs this skill can not be perfected over night....i have all ways said lots of people think they are a dj until two 1210s are put in front of them lol......quality

He probably is but isn't a marketing puppet. One of the few that doesn't really give a shit and would do what he does regardless. Not many of those left that are still at it who were there early doors. Kind of sad not seeing him on vinyl only as his mixing is 2nd to none, a true beast. In fairness to him him hammered vinyl till only recently, and still a vinyl junkie.
and he now uses 4 decks rather than 3 so he's hardly regressing much. Only added help by going to CDJs is the loop

Ben Klock and his missus get the hype while Ben Sims goes largely unnoticed by the 22 year old hipster "technoheads" of today? I first saw Sims play about 20 years ago - he's played outstanding techno - proper techno - all the way through, and will hopefully continue to do so well into the future. Still banging it out. Fair play to him because that plodding along so called "Berlin sound" of today has become really old really quickly.

Ben is also my all time fav since 2001 or something. He never disappoints, always proper nice mixing and great record recordchoice. He s from real dj culture, ben can play hip hop, soul disco house techno in the mix no problem and keeps the dancefloors going
As a young (20s) person, this is one of my favorite dudes out there. He did a set with Truncate at Detroit Movement last weekend that was the hardest shit I've ever seen. Not exaggerating, it was definitely the heaviest techno set I've ever witnessed. My friends and I just lost it on the dance floor.. He's such a skilled dj, too, as evidenced by videos like this. He's a real master.
EDIT: should note it wasn't only techno, he and truncate went a few different directions. I won't forget that one for awhile.
Saw Ben recently for my first legal club night experience and it was incredible. His crates are so deep and together with his technical skill he FORCES you to dance

I must admit I never gave u credit in the past (sorry I’m a techno snob from Perth Westralia and we have very limited exposure to the rest of the planet - COVID included (not that I’m complaining here)- but I have impressed me beyond belief and I will give credit where credit is due and u my friend Rock!! I can go further into detail but atm I’m walking my German Shepard amd it’s almost 11pm so no time to comment further. You have fought against the big guns of Jeff Mills, RH, Claude, Derrick, Steve Stoll, Hyperactive, Shufflemaster, surgeon. Mstr Landstrumm, May, Paperclip, GVelvet, Sneak, Dearborn, Djax, and all the others ands u definitely deserve a mention. 👍🥰🤗😎 u have earned ur dues and I curtsy 2u w all due respect
I make sure to go and see Sims every time he comes to Perth and have seen him play five or more times here now, first of which was way back in the late '90s (1997 perhaps?) when he first toured with a MoS night and played at the club next to Frostbites (the name escapes me now). He cemented his name in the Perth techno scene that night though my favourite set was at one of the two times he played Belmont Park racecourse (the one with James Zabiela) and blew the roof off.
