I'm not the type to comment but thought this would be helpful. I was diagnosed with Steven Johnson Syndrome, oral mucosa. After just shy of 3 years, I believe I was misdiagnosed. I had a severe allergic reaction to a blood pressure medication and my inner cheeks were so swollen, I was actually chewing on my cheeks. I cried everytime I ate. After awhile, I began to take note of the foods that hurt the most. Mostly hard, sharp foods like chips and nuts that cut and sliced my cheeks raw. Extremely acid fruits like pineapple. Everything with spices burned, even ketchup. Then I found bananas. The potassium in the bananas took the swelling down. I ate 3-5 bananas a day for almost 2 years. I now can't stand bananas.lol I eat brussel sprouts now. I let my cheeks absorb the potassium. I can now tell the difference between healing pain and worsening pain. Wierd, I know. Also, my jaw was unable to open further than an inch. Still have issues. My tongue was nolonger flexible. It felt like a large piece of plastic in the thickness of my tongue. I could not stick out my tongue. My gums are sensitive and bleed sometimes. The last time I was at the dentist was when I had the allergic reaction to get some kind of numbing mouthwash which barely worked for 5 mins. Was unable to brush my teeth for so long. My teeth have actually shifted. I finally decided to go to the dentist after realizing I may have been misdiagnosed. I have to face the fear of someone poking and prodding around in my mouth. I just want to get better and not have to worry if I have enough money to buy my potassium rich fruits and veggies. In the meantime, I've been taking colloidal silver to boost my immune system, which has helped a great deal!! I also take melatonin and velarian root to help calm stress and anxiety. I nolonger need potassium everyday. I can go about a week with no extra potassium. I hope this helps anyone looking for a quick heal. Oh, I've a dentist appt next week. Good luck to everyone suffering from this condition. The struggle is real!! Be Blessed.â˜ș*

Thank you, found what you said very helpful. I was diagnosed 5 years ago, experienced bad toothache with painful throat. That episode settled by avoiding especially salt, pepper, other spicy foods and support from my dentist.
Have had mild discomfort every day with a few bad flare ups per year. I can see from the comments that everyone has different presentations. However, although it’s not uncommon it is hard to find any useful information, so thank you again. I must point out that those who do provide information never mention that patients can feel general unwell, fatigued during flare ups with bad dental pains. Sadly I dearly wish there was more actual treatment available.

Forgot to add that apart from avoidance of certain foods etc, the things that have helped me are rubbing onto my gums Sensodyne Rapid toothpaste when needed, when bad pain I use Difflam mouth spray which is anaesthesia for the main areas of pain, oral balance gel to provide moisture and a very soft head toothbrush.

Uncomfortable??? Holy crap!! This was the worse pain I have ever felt!!! Especially when the ulcer like lesions in my mouth would RIP open trying to eat. When I would go to sleep I had mucous in my mouth and I would wake up and have to RIP my lips open every morning. No amount of pain medications helped. I have been dealing with this for over 3 years. I am now finally on methotrexate and I have had relief for the last 4 months. One of my Dr.s said that if I went gluten free it might help. Loved your video!!

Thank You Sooo Much. I was diagnosed with papillary cancer in 1-2023 & was using hydrogen peroxide 35% drops diluted in water as an alternative therapy. I used it for 5 weeks at a time then took a break. After a few months I had these huge white & red patches on my hard palate, blisters that popped & gave me great pain. Then no one would clean my teeth because of this so I had to go a 18 months without teeth cleaning. I did get an RX of Clobetasol 0.05% cream to apply to my gums 4-5 times a day. I had half my thyroid removed 11/17/23 L side had large nodules. I used the cream until the pain went away, 3-4 months then stopped. I just started using the cream again & finally got my teeth cleaned. No Hep C, no liver disease but I'm still waiting for an appointment with an Endocrinologist to asses my blood. My thyroglobuin is high so my thyroid is attacking itself. I also have one front tooth that is gray so I'm thinking the bacteria went into my tooth. Not sure. Thank You for this tape.

Avoiding oxalates and histamines in food can help a lot very quickly. Turmeric is like THE standard recommended root to help with inflamlation but you should be careful with it. Many oxalates to start with, and many people don't process it well (gingerfamily, gives tinitus, lichen planus and more).

And yeah at the moment everything is going slow for us in the UK and NHS etc. I think they referred you to an ENT as he or she would be the best person to check your mouth and get to the bottom of the issue. Meanwhile can I recommend you eat more garlic in your diet and see how you get on. I’ve seen people mention this for Oral Linchen Planus, and apparently eating more garlic puts the situation to bed, but it could take a couple of months. I’m going to try this myself. Also please type and search Dr Berg Linchen Planus video, he explains a natural method (no side effects) that can really help apparently. it’s some kind of herb or supplement. So try these first, and see how you get on. Also try some Gingigel mouth wash which has no alcohol and it helps for gums and mouth tissue. I have read that stress can bring it on, so I’m personally trying to reduce my stress levels which have been through the roof past 2 years since losing my father. Lots to learn and try still. Hope to stay in touch, take care and speak soon.

@@sarahobaka8354 Yes definitely reduce the stress and keep the mouth clean as possible (as you are already) and avoiding certain spicy triggers and alcohol would be best, but it can be a challenge as we have to live our lives as well and enjoy food and drinks now and then. But from what I’ve researched oral LP seems to be brought on by the immune system attacking itself or something like that, and so there must be a cause in the first place. I’m sure stress and anxiety play a major role in this as my issue only started since my stress levels went up and I also caught Covid in July 2021. Could possibly be related. Thank you for this video it is very helpful. Just diagnosed with this from an oral medicine doc who wants to take a biopsy but where the lesion is he said the biopsy can cause my gums to recede more and possibly a nerve problem so I don't think I want to go thru with it. He said to brush with baking soda and if it goes away I would not have to have biopsy but my dentist said baking soda way to abrasive so I switched to a very gently toothpaste... Mint is a big trigger for me and I have to stop it so I went with mint and fluoride free toothpaste.. I think my the inflammation could be from infections deep in root canals in which I am working on trying to get rid of those infections with extraction's with biological dentist. It may be my root cause of my auto-immune condition which is Hashimoto's. It is very frustrating.

I was so happy to feel my cheeks becoming normal again.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's, Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2015 and I'm a diabetic since I was only 23 years old. I also have Heart Disease and was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Disease last year, so my immune system is really shot and can't be taking most medications for all my ailments. A year after I was diagnosed with the Fibro, Parkinson's & RA, I decided to stop taking all the prescription medications and started doing research about supplements, vitamins and herbs. I buy Powdered Supplements and make my pills (bad flavors are not for me 😝) I take Turmeric and Ginger for inflammation which you should use it for the Lichen. Use Aloe, you can drink it and also use it on your skin... Keep yourself hydrated with good healthy water and try to do something you enjoy everyday to release stress...
