He isn't expecting as in the pregnancy sense...he's apparently going to adopt or have a surrogate....just write it like it is...he's not "expecting" ......that's a term for mothers that are pregnant...
He's expecting...the same way a husband talks about "we're expecting" when discussing his wife is pregnant. They're very much expecting a baby with the surrogate.

No matter what both he and Michael would do, the babies were constantly distressed…at least until his mother would comfort them! She practically had to move in with them just to help care for the children because they took to her and not to the two men!
There are plenty of children in need of good homes! No need to add more trauma and normalize human exploitation!
Do you even know that at any time a wealthy couple can just “walk away” from a surrogate woman? Every contract between a surrogate and the wealthy couple is drafted by them. And who do you think has the upper hand and power to dictate how the pregnancy will go? Even after the surrogate woman has spent countless times out of her day with doctor’s visits, putting her body through stress preparing for pregnancy (and they prepare for them to possibly carry multiple births cause a lot of these wealthy couples will want to implant the surrogate w/ multiple fertilized eggs just to increase the chances of one of them developing into a baby)? They can literally just “change” their minds and leave the surrogate hanging to deal with a lifetime of medical complications, many times after preparing for the process a lot of these women will have a difficult time carrying their own future children to term!
Also it’s been proven babies are hardwired to seek their mother’s milk and cry for a mother’s presence.
And I haven’t even pointed out the horrible side effects of what egg donors face!
