dorissweeley6026 what a blessed individual Bobby. He is still using his "magic" in his 🎶, for so many years. No one there or now could ever reach those octaves w/o the autotune feature. We have been blessed to still be able to listen to his beautiful voice. Surely he is directing the heavenly choir, saying this is how its done. Bobby is dearly missed, his 🎶 lives on, after all these years that have passed.
I always say, if I was limited to listen to only one singer for the rest of my time, it would have to be Bobby. Amazing vocal range, total command of the lyrics, and never leaves a note neglected. Ebb Tide, Summertime, If I Ruled the World, White Cliffs of Dover, Unchained Melody ... he has no equal, And for a bonus, sometimes he comes with added Bill.

What a blessed voice, many male singers did not have the voice to reach those ranges of octaves. Perhaps they could have, utilizing the autotune feature. A very talented man, left his career in sports, to persue a singing career. We are so blessed that he made that decision ie: singing career. He over the years had done solos songs that have been mentioned. Unfortunately he left us too soon, his music is still w/us. After all this time Bobby you are still melting ❤'s wether the younger set, or older. He is leading the choir, in the heavenly realm. Wait one, just a moment, this is how its done !! Bobby you are so dearly missed.

I am a 77 year old woman and I remember so well when the Righteous Brothers first came on the scene. Those voices immediately caused most folks, of every color, to assume they were black, because no white guys had ever produced that sound before. They captured the amazement of people of all ethnicities. To this day, their sound is still magical. No voice enhancements, just glorious sounds that have never been duplicated.
They don't make them like this man anymore. His range, his breath control, his passion, his intimacy-he was amazing. No auto-tune, just pure talent! RIP Bobby

When these guys hit the airwaves they did start playing them and called them 'blue-eyed soul brothers'. (They did actually have blue eyes)

Bobby Hatfield passed away in 2003 a few weeks after The Righteous Brothers were inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame. destinyreely2974, absolutely yes, perhaps the younger generation are not familiar to singers that sang in the era. Ie: Andy Williams, Bobby Hatfield. I perhaps may be going further back, the thirties, forties, even fifties era. What the singers were a class act, ie: Billy Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald and many more. Hopefully the youngins will tap into the 🎶 of old. That's were it all began, hopefully they will.

Yes..gotta hear both of the Righteous Brothers sing "You Lost That Loving Feeling" in the Shindig TV show video (also "Summertime" from that show is another wild solo by Bobby Hatfield) and the Hullabaloo TV show has them singing the follow up song "Soul and Inspiration". Then watch them sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" from the Ed Sullivan Variety Hour. You will know why they are still loved & listened to in 2023, You will also love the blues record the dark haired baritone Bill Medley sings lead on called "I Want To Make Love To You". To hear Bobby Hatfield's amazing vocals switch up to a beautiful solo of "Ebb Tide". Lots of great recordings those two have done together & their solos.

My understanding Bill is still doing tours, with a new partner. Sorry, do not recall his name. Have read that he did research Bobby's music career. He was not trying to copy his style of singing. One of the greatest live performances of all time imo. This was live on the Andy Williams Show in 1965. No autotune just pure talent by the late great Bobby Hatfield. I was 15 years old watching this. More than 670 artists have covered this but this is the gold standard. It’s nice to see young people appreciate quality music. Of course it was brought back in the 1990 movie GHOST. They have many other great songs. Check ‘em out.

This song by Bobby has become a classic! It was all live, and he was incredible! His other songs are just as great, “Summertime” is one example.

They had great music in the day until the 70's or early 80's. Now it aĺl sounds the same although there have been some talents like Whitney and Amy. I find it hard to believe they have never heard some of the artists though. I was born in the 50's but I knew satchmo, nkc at el. Also brilliant music. I also know m&m. The hairstyle Bobby Hatfield had is called pompadour. They were very popular with male Rock music and Blues music stars in the 1950s and early-1960s. Elvis Presley had one. In the liner notes booklet for the CD rerelease of Muddy Waters’ 1968 album, “Electric Mud”, there are photos of Waters at a barber shop, getting his hair styled into a large pompadour.
With both Righteous Brothers singing, the harmony is unbelievable. This is real music and I was around and there were many groups that sang like this but I have to say my favorite part of watching your blog is watching you the hosts hearing them for the first time. It is so much fun to watch your faces when you hear the music I listened to when I was young. Maybe you will go down this HUGE rabbit hole: music of the 50s and 60s, music that came before and influenced what you are listening to now. You were correct when you said that music doesn't sound like this any more. So true, because this was before the technology and technicians that overly processed the sounds. These singers sound more "pure", more natural, they can bend the notes and not be auto-tuned. The soul can come out.
