Walls are a whole different canvas over furniture.
No comparison.
I've painted Many Walls.
If you wall was "dimpled" then the brush would have been the right 1st tool, or you would need a plush roller to coat it with 1 coat.
I would always rather do 2 coats over a thick 1 coat, (those do not set well and can be gunky) *2nd coats are easy and I am interested in "dine right over done fast".*
Keep ⬆ in mind for "Craftsmanship Outcomes". It is quicker to do something right than to have to do it over. 😘

decorator 10 years UK a lot of professional decorators can't or won't brush a wall old school so thumbs up for given it a bash.
The roller is a good idea. You should probably listen to whoever told you that....
