I am SO THRILLED with the recent trend of hobby CZcamsrs visiting factories and making such cool, informational videos like these. Keep it up guys! ❤
He's pretty good at table tennis too.
Yeah goobertown really set up a trend the others couldn't say no to, didn't he?
@@PinkyJusticeHe sure did. It must be getting competitive out there.
As a gun guy who knows cnc and manufacturing I concur. I'm going to be getting a few soon for 40k and cerakoting guns. 😅 I'll probably have 3 different guns by the next month or two.
The bloke in charge of the factory seemed so fuckin chill and I like that he seems like a bit of a nerd himself
massive nerd. Huge.
@@harderairbrush I hate being sold to - But man, the passion in that Demo Video you just did - Just sold me. Ordered one. I will put it aside for the wife to give me for Xmas.
Thanks very much for the comment buddy - wishing you lots of beautiful creativity with it!@@mwnciboo
i love you squidmar
We do too :-)
Me too!
That adjustable collar is a great idea! Much easier than the stopper on the back of the needle style! I wish I could own one of these beauties!
The H&S trigger is so nice. I have airbrushes from most of the major manufactures of air brushes. When you have to fully take apart an airbursh the trigger bit is always the must furstrating part about putting it back to gether. Their design is, by far, my favorite.
I'm biased of course, but they are a dream to clean!
Thank you!
These type of tours really make u appreciate finely crafted tools and really understand the value of that tool!
thanks!
Man, the H&S airbrush trigger is such a simple, genius bit of design
Well thank you ;-)
Living 18km from H&S. If you had called, we could have had a cold beer. Next time?
table tennis at 10am most days for 30 minutes if you're interested...
Just bought it. Great to see where the airbrush comes from. Hope there is a follow up on this vid.
I had the opportunity to use a H&S airbrush many years ago. It's one of the Cadillacs of the industry. I'm glad that I'll be able to finally put one into good use on a daily basis.
Thanks goes out to Squidmar and H&S Airbrushes, for bringing this opportunity to us.
Thanks to you too! Over here, we like to think we're more of a Porsche. But I drove a Cadillac once with a big block and I liked it!
Got mine this morning. 12/04/23.
The cardboard outer shell is a fun Squidmar artwork reminiscent of the 1980s. Has an ole school DnD look to it. Inside the hard case is a Stunning looking airbrush. Connected it to my compressor. It has a smoothe flow throughout the pull of the trigger. No spitting. Easy to achive a wide fog pattern, down to nearly a hairline. Looking forward to using it in my next macabre painting.
Thanks again to Squidmar and Warwick ( not sure if I have that right) at Harder and Steenbeck
Cheers
Love the how it is made episodes. Big fan of metalwork, machining, and precision manufacturing. Thanks!
And even though I already own an Infinity, the Ultra looks amazing for a second one for bulk-work and for my beginning-hobby kids.
Ah awesome! We would love if you got your kids started with our new Ultra! Thanks for being an Infinity guy already, too :)
Ah man this is super tempting... I've had an airbrush for a few years now, a Badger Patriot 105, and tbh I never really developed the skills to do anything with it, I just found settings that worked for priming, base coating and zenethol highlighting and do nothing else with it. That adjustable collar design looks like it could really help the learning process in a way that I don't think you can get from watching CZcams videos xD
@@jameswilliams3304 I've since ordered the H&S. The patriot has been a great workhorse the 2-3 years I've had it, but I've never progressed beyond priming and base coating etc. When I was first looking into getting an airbrush, the Badger Patriot 105 was generally considered one of the best low to mid range airbrushes, certainly don't regret the decision I made at the time, but I think this new H&S ultra being designed for teaching beginners would've actually been the perfect brush to get back then - so I got it now instead xD
I felt the same way.... even more so having watched a couple of review of the brush now.
As a complete newbie to this airbrush world, I've dipped my toe and purchased one. Hoping for the best products, gorgeous aesthetics and hopefully another usedul tool👌
Factory tours are soooooo cool. I love these, makes my time working as a supply chain engineer even more satisfying haha.
After missing the previous airbrush (because I wasn’t even painting back then), I am very excited to have secured an order for the new model!
Exciting man! I'm sure you will love it :D
@@SquidmarMiniatures I’ve no doubt. Now the waiting begins. Booooooooo!
time fassteeeeer@@h00th00t
@@SquidmarMiniaturesfasteeerrrrr! Soon it will be time for my own grand reveal!
Just what I did. As a beginner, I am excited about the new Ultra and having it Squidmar LtdEdt. is the icing on the cake.
I love my H&S Evo Silverline. The toolless cleaning is just awesome. Looking forward to see what you've produced.
Can you elaborate more? What is toolless cleaning?
@@giapchin iwata needs a little spanner to take the nozzle off to clean it. H&S you can just unscrew with your fingers. And the nozzle is bigger and easier to clean.
@@DanielEbeck Ahh I see. I was using a generic brand from China (for learning) and it was toolless. Now I see what you mean.
@@giapchin you don't need a tool to take the front end with the nozzle and crown apart to clean it its all just done by hand an no smaal parts Chek on how to clean a H&S online it shows you how easy it is also how easy it is to change nozzles and needle sizes i love by H&S brushes
Can’t wait for the day I get to have a whirl at a airbrush!!
When I started painting miniatures I used the airbrush that I got with my compressor. I almost gave up painting because the airbrush was always clogged, and I ended up breaking the nozzle when cleaning it up. Then I got an H&S airbrush, and all my problems went away! Their quality is not overrated.
Put in my order today, the hype is real 😄
I'm amazed by the fact that they are lathing even simple components such as the cup. I would have assumed that that was a die-stamped part or such, but to start from brass rod just to make a cup?
there's a lot to a cup... a nice shape inside so that it's easy to wipe clean with your finger and a paper towel... a perfect taper so that the fit to the body is secure and cannot leak... a return on the lip at the top so that when you move the airbrush, the paint cannot slop out of the top... having total control over the shape inside and out is very valuable to us and you :-)
It may also be cheaper to use another copy of the same machine rather than bring in a brand new machine with an entirely separate manufacturing process
Just got mine , and the others when they come out , love these.....was lucky enough to get the original still use it all the time.........thanks Emil
I want to work there so bad. Not only do I airbrush, but I also work with CNC machines (not so much the configuration side, but just a button pusher and quality control aspect).
Send them an email ;)
You got me there, Emil! Ordered your squidmar design Ultra 2024 and really looking forward to it. I started airbrushing this January with a relatively cheap airbrush and transportable compressor set. While it was fun when it worked, I encountered all the problems you and every other airbrush professional predicted with a cheap one. About time for an upgrade!
It was nice to see you guys having a great time producing that video😊
Glad you're releasing new brushes, love that collar on the trigger.
I wish I had the money to get the beginner airbrush
It looks outstanding! Just incredible how precise and beautiful they are produced 😍
Thank you! That's a lovely compliment.
I can't recommend my squidmar airbrush enough. I have airbrushed at every price point, and it's the best hands down.
@@noahbodhi8657 I’m so jealous :D one day I shall join the ranks of the squidmar airbrushers
Enjoy your airbrush! Hope you create some awesome work
@@Tehral Remember even the cheap ones do pretty good work, too! It might not be as slick or precise but it is still going to be good work for almost all applications.
@@noahbodhi8657
The CR plus is better
Congratulations to you and the team. I love how excited and proud you seem in this video, and with good reason! Fantastic stuff, good luck with the launch!
Thank you!
Turned into How it's Made at the body stage
Harder & Steenbeck are truly exceptional:
I got the limited edition H&S Squidmar airbrush, and a few months later I was away from home for a month. I left the H&S Squidmar submerged in water with my H&S Evolution. Probably due to dissimilar metal corrosion the aluminium trigger of the Squidmar fizzed away losing about 40% of its mass and becoming unusable.
I emailed H&S, who posted a replacement for free (ai had offered to buy it). Unfortunately the envelope arrived with a tear where someone had stolen the replacement, I emailed H&S again and they sent another replacement trigger which arrived intact. I no longer leave my H&S Squidmar submerged at all, although my evolution is permanently stored in water. Lesson learned, dont keep an airbrish with aluminium parts submerged with a steel airbrush.
Anyhoo, it was excellent customer service from H&S to twice send me a trigger.
Just ordered mine to Mexico. The price even with shipping is right on the budget that I was ready to use and this video sold me on it.
I have Silverline 2 in 1... The cleaning is sooo easy. I remember first time I worried when I did disassembly and assembly just for thepractice, and that was so easy, simple and precise.. I just recommend for everybody from beginners to experts.
That's awesome - thanks so much!
What a cool video! I'd love to see you guys going to more factories and doing behind-the-scenes of what goes into the hobby!
I just love all my H&S guns. I regret I could not go to the factory when I was in Germany not so long ago. What is incredible is that from the bottom of the range to the top, all use the same needles and nozzles.
Love seeing how it is done 👍
YASSSSS! I MISSED THE LAST ONE "was at a rough $$ time" BUT SAVED UP FOR THIS ONE :D !!!
Exciting mate!
Awesome thanks SO much! Really hope you love it!
1:04 this is real flex
Setting number III :-)
just ordered. Squidmar team is the best.
Thank you!
Incredible video, love seeing the process and hearing the passion that goes into making these. Time to go place my order cause that airbrush is gorgeous!
Just placed my order. may even just buy another ultra and keep the Squidmar as a nice collectors piece 😍😍
Their nozzle design is my fav....toss in a custom micron/creos air chamber and trigger response..oh baby. Can't wait for trigger response redesign
as a machinist these looks like fun parts to make! great video!
Fantastic look into how H&S make airbrushes- well done!!!!!
$132 shipped to Illinois, if anyone is wondering. To me, that's a heck of a deal. Cheaper than my 15 year old Iwata Eclipse, presumably better as well.
I legitimately couldn't find a cheap airbrush that looks as good as the one Emil showed in the intro. All of mine looked very obviously cheap and shit. They also clogged and broke so I just bit the bullet and got H&S Evolution.
Had it for about a year now and I must say...the main issue with clogging was probably the nozzle cap. Round ones cause clogging. I stopped using it with Evolution and basically never have issues anymore.
take a look at the painting process video on the product page - hopefully it's helpful! And thanks for being an H&S customer!
That was really cool! Thanks uncle!
Quality control is where most costs are. As others have said, these sort of videos are fascinating and interesting.
Just got mine! Thanks Emil & Lucas! :)
This was very interesting and entertaining!
This was a cool video. Interesting to see all the manufacturing processes!
Got mine yesterday! My first airbrush! ❤
Just bought your new air brush, it's my first one and really looking forward to it and using the beginner friendly features. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for this video! I've ordered one of the HS special edition Squidmar airbrushes, can't wait to start using it!
This channel is underated. Love everything you do
Ordered. Can’t wait for it to arrive!
Love my limited squidmar edition, no.44.
ooooh nice!
Already got my order in can't wait for it to arrive!!
cant wait to see the pro models. already started saving.. YES
Can't hurt to have the complete lineup, no? :D
we've had to put a couple of yoga mats in our assembly area to help the staff calm down and stop getting overexcited. The new ones are pretty cool :-)
@@harderairbrush hahaha meditation. "airbrush affirmations" let it flow baby......
I wish you would have shown the needle production in some more detail 🙂
Do you know if existing Ultras can be retrofit with the new trigger and pull-back wheel?
Unfortunately it was the only part we werent allowed to film :/
Unfortunately not, as the airbrush have been completely redesigned. Needles and nozzles can be moved around as always.
@@SquidmarMiniaturesThanks! So the needle is the secret ingredient 😅
Oh well, now I have to consider whether I buy myself a second Ultra or whether I just try to learn correct airbrushing the old fashioned way
either way will work buddy - thanks for considering buying another! @@maphi8914
Would you need a dedicated airbrush station with ventilation, or is it fine just to use at your normal desk?
Depends on what you're sparying and how much you spray. 10-30 minutes airbrushing per week with non toxic acrylics is fine. Enamels, solvents... and massive amounts is not something id recommend long term.
Incredible video as always! I've ordered my Squidmar Brush
Thanks for joining us!
Loved seeing how H&S do it, helps me better understand the cost too
Another great vid 👍 keep it up bro
I want the infinity version but I guess I also need an all rounder airbrush so I'll sponsor Squidmar
Infinity version coming in two months 🥳
Yes! I'm getting one! Great video as always guys
Awesome!
The Ultra looks cool, but I want to know more about the other two first.
I'll be back.
I love my iwatas, but that infinity sure is a beauty. I need one to paint with, and one for display.
Been looking to get an airbrush myself
Thank you for this video. I'm getting familiar with my own air brush and I wanted to see more about how the sausage is made. I just pre-ordered your limited brush, excited to try it.
I Really enjoyed your video, very well done! I have to say I've never personally been impressed with H&S airbrushes, I've used several different brands and models extensively in a professional capacity over the years and have always been partial to one airbrush in particular, the Iwata Eclipse HP-CS. In fact in 2012 I purchased an Infinity CRplus airbrush. A week or so into using it the stem of the airbrush broke loose and started rotating in the body. Their customer service was about as impressive, basically accusing me of mishandling the airbrush. That was just over 10 years ago. So, The company and their products and service may have changed since then. Again, thanks for the great content.
I just bought the squidmar edition! I already have the infinity and I love it.
Fantastic little documentary, well done!
Many thanks!
I ordered the Angel Giraldez AB last December and funnily enough that one, shipped from overseas, was cheaper than the stock H&S it's based off sold here in the US. And I got an extra nozzle and needle.
It was $208 USD after shipping
Another great one
really cool to see an airbrush company make it more fearless for beginners. those preset would have helped me decades ago. that said im glad i put in the work, but still, makes it easier for new comers and that's really neat!
Fearless - YES! That's exactly the goal - thanks for this comment!
After years of using my older airbrush I finally decided to get a new one from Harder and Steenback. I got the infinity and I have to say from the point I unpacked it to now it has been an amazing experience using it. The quality of it is just simply amazing.
Great to hear - thanks for choosing H&S ;-)
Awesome video! Just getting started airbrushing and just recieved my H&S Ultra the other day. Thanks for an interesting video :D
As my first Airbrush I bought the H&S Squidmar Edition and never had any regrets. For almost two years it serves my deeds flawless...
Happy you love it mate!
Great - thank you!
Bought one before the video ended! Awesome tour and the quality of everything looks great! Now just to wait ...
I have four H&S ‘brushes,love them!
Thanks for choosing our airbrushes, Grey Wolf... But five does have a nice ring to it...😉
Just bought one, looks amazing
Yay, i have bought one. Do you guys plan on having some airbrush classes in Umeå in the future?
Thanks so much!
If they are so accuratly, why is there such an inconsistent triggers because the point at which you pull the trigger and the paint begins to leave the airbrush is always different. I am specifically talking about the Infinity CR Plus. Maybe they fixed it in the 2.0 version. Lots of other airbrushs dont have that problem even the cheap badger sotar 2020 is constant.
Thanks for asking this. Our airbrushes will only ever represent the very best that we can do at that time. The last five years has been a great period of investment and learning for us, and now we're ready to share what we've learned with you. We're happy that over the years many artists have created great work with the Infinity, so we're confident that it's always been a good airbrush, but we at H&S will always be happy to come in to work every day and try to find ways of making an even better airbrush. Our trigger response is an area where we needed to work on, and we believe that we have been very successful in that. Hope you discover the same the next time you pick up a new H&S.
I’m a “boomer” getting back into painting historical miniatures and wanted a quality airbrush coupled with simplicity - PERFECT TIMING! Order placed, genius of H&S with dial setting ring, LABELED for us who “may” forget settings from session to session…😅
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Just ordered my Squidmar Ultra!! I was looking at the Ultra anyway, but took the chance and got one of your designed ones instead! very excited to get it! Not used an airbrush before....just need to work out which compressor I need to get now...research...research...research!
I missed out on the first one. But this one being aimed even more at beginners was to good for me to pass up!
Thanks so much for joining us!
I LOVE my H&S Evo. Although I had it for 2 years before I decided to use it. Learning curve is still there everytime I use it. Love it though.
I love my h&s infinity crplus, was suggested to me by the store owner, saying it was the best out there and I hate buying upgrades so went with it and never regretted it.
Fascinating how much of it is machined. I would have figured more parts would be stamped to save money.
Supposedly all the Japanese airbrush brands source their components from the same industrial pneumatic manufacturing company, Fuso-Seiki, that produced the old Olympos airbrushes and now owns the design patents. The airbrush companies have some variation in the components, assemble and fit the final product and sell it under their brand name; Iwata, Gunze, Tamiya etc. Fuso-Seiki also sells airbrushes directly under the old brand name Richpen. It would be interesting but unlikely to get a tour of their production facility.
I just ordered your Ultra because I love the design. Missed out on your original limited edition but didn’t miss out on this deal even though I have an infinity.
Thank you very much!
Really interesting and cool. 👍🏻
whoever is on the song has me, I drive I-35 all the damn time hahaha
Great video, really interesting
Lucas, your painting is fantastic. I want to see you submit a proper competition piece!
I had some issues recently with my Iwata - nothing major, I was able to get it cleaned out and working properly again - and I decided I want a backup airbrush. I'm giving yours a try! Thanks for the video, it was fascinating and I love to see how things are made.
Thanks for joining us Lisa!
Missed out on the Squidmar Evolution, but I’m not missing out on this one! Order’s in! Can’t wait to see the Squidmar Infinity! Hopefully it has the same bomb-proof coating the regular Ininity line comes with!
I'll be back.
@@harderairbrush I'll be working on improving my airbrush skills enough using the Ultra by then to justify the Infinity. :D :D
This is the perfect video to explain why it’s worth spending that little bit extra if you can.
Okay, you folks. You got me. I ordered the airbrush. WIll you please do a beginner's guide (set up, maintenance, cleaning etc.) for people like me?
We have a painting process video for this over on our channel - and then of course Emil has a number of great airbrush tutorial vids :-)
Thank you for this cool video. I've been using the Evolution since I started airbrushing in design school many years ago and our teacher told us to invest in a proper tool. It took me two month as a student to get the money together but it was so worth it to be able to learn on a proper tool. I am looking forward to the release of the Squidmar Evo because with your last release I was a little late to the party and hope I can snatch one up this time. ;)
Awesome thank you for choosing us!
Oooo can’t wait to finally get a squidmar airbrush! 😊
Funny. I live not far and have been there too :D
They even gave me a little tour there :) Nice folks.
Just got into the hobby this year and now I have ordered one of these. Excited and a bit terrified as it was quite a bit of money until i realised that I have already spent that kind of money on single miniatures already. Will look for more airbrushing videos now.
Thanks Martin! Appreciate you joining us - take a look at the painting process video on our channel specifically for this airbrush - hopefully it helps!
