Spain made puerto rico Puerto Rico. The overwhelming majority of it's culture, DNA, traditions come from Spain. And while ironically other Hispanic countries mock Puerto Ricans for their Spanish as broken Spanish, it is vernacularly closest to Spain (especially Andalusian & Canarian Spanish which is practically identical). Plus, it's one of the countries that can have dual citizenship with Spain (Ibero American).
The ONLY thing that unites all Hispanics of different countries is Spanish culture, not race, not ethnicity. Take away all of Spain's contributions to Puerto Rico and it'd be unrecognizable. There's a good video on CZcams called "El Boricuazo Islas Canarias en El Circo de La Mega" where Jesús Omar Rivera Dávila goes into detail as to how much of Puerto Rico is Spanish.

The girl that said those things about the grnocide are so fake…. Even the British empire which took advantage of the fact Bartolomé de las casas said that to make the black legend said his numbers and what he said was very exaggerated. He said bullshit like there was 1 million natives in the bahamas before the Spanish came and after that they all died, there was no genocide the only genocide in South America and Central America was the genocide the Aztecs Mayans and Incas committed on children women and other smaller villages and civilizations, villages and civilizations which got allied with Spain to beat these empires. There was no native slavery except for war prisioners which were still treated human Gad rights and only became slaves for a maximum of 10 years. Bartolomé was crazy, and people who know a minimum of Spanish history know that.

Growing up I would either receive negative or positive backlash for both my Puerto Rican and Spaniard background. When I would tell people that my mother was from Spain they would say that I was a colonizer and tell me that I shouldn’t be proud of that. And when I told people my father was from Puerto Rico proud Spaniards would tell me that that was ghetto and Puerto Ricans would say that I need to be prideful for being Puerto Rican it’s like two raging Egotastic countries fighting each other.

There was no genocide on the part of the Spanish. Some of the native Tainos died due the illnesses that the Europeans brought with them, because the native people had not yet developed a natural immunity. The native Taino disappeared as separate group, partly because of these illnesses and partly because of intermarriage with the Spanish. 60% of the modern day Puerto Ricans have Taino blood which is anywhere between 15 and 30% of their DNA. If there had been a genocide, we would not have these figures. People who are trying to kill off another group do not help them to survive by intermarriage with them.

What is the big deal that he visited so what? Nothing the young lady said was wrong! It is simply and uncomfortable truth for a delusional people who have a love affair with WHITENESS i.e. Spanish ancestry. I am disappointed but not surprised by the comments that the older generation made and that most Puerto Ricans have. The fact is that Spain did colonize i.e stole their home, raped, murdered and enslaved my Taino ancestors and enslaved, raped, and terrorized my African ancestors. Puerto Rico is not truly 64% percent white. To this day Spain still has almost everyone who wants to be white so badly thinking and identifying under La Regla del Sacar o Las Gracias al Sacar laws in Puerto Rico. If you want to be Spanish so badly give everything that our Taino and African ancestors contributed to the culture back i.e. the food, music, dance and just keep the Spanish parts of the mix.
