I think it's funny that Grant Gustin (Sebastian) left his role as a Jet in West Side Story in the Broadway revival tour to be on Glee, and in his first episode he has to watch them perform West Side Story xD

Please understand that Glee did not try to copy the musical. They wanted to make it look like an actual high school production. That's why they didn't make the accents sound accurate.
Or to have the original choreography - ok I'm mostly thinking of 'Cool' when I say that but I think it was a mistake to have them singing and dancing at the same time, do they want to make it obvious that they're not singing live?

@@escotiyaotl8869 Because sometimes singing and dancing at the same time is difficult and sometimes it's better to have a dance break or have the dancing done by other members of the cast. This is one of them.

Only if they took away the changes the made to the ending of this song and the ending of 'Something's Coming' (they gave them both a more fan-faring sound which cheapens the songs) and so long as they could prove that Lea Michel could sing the original version of 'Somewhere' and not the Barbara Streisand version she auditioned with - I think it could improve her range if she proved that she could sing more than broadway-belting-ballads and go for something softer but equally powerful instead.

catgirl 0615 no, if you actually listened to the soundtrack you would see that a lot of the show has more typical broadway-style songs. That would be enough, wlwdwtys, burn. all these songs have no traces of rap or hip hop whatsoever. And a lot of the time, they call it "rapping" in the songs but all it really is is just dialogue with a backing track. Then there are other songs like the room where it happens and say no to this which are more jazz-style songs. Its a mix of almost every genre under the sun so to say its only rap and hip hop is pretty ignorant tbh
This is probably my favorite song out of all of Glee.
I also love these costumes so so so much.

Everyone talks about how amazing Santana was as Anita (and rightfully so, perfectly cast) but no one talks about Puck as Bernardo. He was also the perfect casting choice, and he’s so good in this number

They have different styles yeah and that were shown when Santana sang don't rain on my parade but another thing that was shown in that performance were Nayas aka Santanas vocals. She proved she was as good as Rachel if not even better than her. She at least deserved to have a lot more than what she got. And well let's not start on Mercedes!! That girl everytime she opened her mouth everyone's jaws were on the floor. Rachel was good really good but she was not the only one.

I never got why Mercedes wanted Maria she would have been a better Anita and it is a meatier role.

She also fit the strong, independent, feisty wiser woman role more than Maria the naive, innocent quiet girl. If she wanted the spotlight that role would show off all her skills more.

This is another role that nobody in their club could have played like Santana did. She was incredible.

Naya Rivera was the undisputed star of Glee. So glad they recognized what a talent they had and showcased it whenever they got the chance. From starting out as a bit player with no lines to Series STAR!! Santana Lopez should've gotten her own spinoff. She started out as a man eating snarky popular cheerleader with her sharp tongue & insults. But her character was the only one who truly evolved and "grew up" right before our eyes. I just wish she got more songs to sing on the show but I'm blessed she had some iconic songs to sing. Noone could make me laugh or bring me to tears like Naya did on Glee. I really didn't appreciate what a triple threat this girl was, on top of being drop dead gorgeous and super intelligent! She was essential in making Brittana the most authentic heartfelt storyline in the show's history. The show really messed up not including her more in the last season. Especially after Brittany and Santana's wedding, they could've shown them more as a couple, gave them a few duets. It was amazing they got an entire episode dedicated to the wedding but after they got married Brittana deserved more. Ah well! A girl can dream. RIP Beautiful Angel!! You're in Heaven with Cory now. You're son was lucky to have you as a mom.
In my opinion, she had an okay voice, but she really surprised me with this performance. It was so good. That doesn't hide the fact that I didn't like her at all, Naya or Santana. Naya was a racist and Santana was a rude mean girl that got all the attention, yet said Rachel did.
