  • New coal charging car was put in operation in September 2016. Watch the video to learn more about why this is important for our operations in Zenica and to see some interesting aerial views of the coke battery. The new technology is set to reduce the duration of visible emissions to less than 12 seconds per charge.

    At the coke ovens I used to work at for US Steel Can these cars were called Larry cars.

    I ran the charge car at Allied Chemical's Ashland, KY coke plant back in the early 70s. Needless to say, I had one of the "old" cars. It was quite an experience.

      I worked for allied now Honeywell chemical in Virginia, now I work at US Steel's coke plant

      I've re bricked the ovens in many over the years

      Worked on all disciplines( Ram, Tops, Larry car Guide side & Wharf) All old school & no self sealing doors😕 At Monckton Coke ovens Near Barnsley South Yorkshire in
      England, it was brutal during the summer months.

      @@Fredboot1 I was lucky to be in Ashland in the Fall but as I recall it was still pretty hot, but not brutal. Thanks for your reply.
