Thumbs down for the stupid promotion of a cell phone game no one cares about.
the biggest difference is the lack of "a round of Gwent" dialogue in TV series .
I want gwent dammit!
Amirreza Ghafari yea even tho i hate gwent. it should be in the netflix version
I do hope that Gwent will be shown as AT LEAST an easter egg in the background
Gwent wasn't a thing in the books. Geralt didn't even hear of Gwent until the 3rd game, which takes place about 5ish years after the end of the books. The TV series takes place about 11 years before Witcher 3. Barrel is the closest thing in the books.
poker was better
ROACH IS NOT THE SAME HORSE!!
roach is the name gerald gives to every one of his horses, meaning after one roach dies, he gets a new one and names it roach
You mean geralt and it could still be the same horse they can live up to 30years and in games ciri is only 20
@@brayden1892 is geralt yes, my bad
and no, in the books geralt gets a new horse at one point and ponders about it's name, then calls it roach, jaskier/dandelion ask him, why does he call all his horses roach?, and he gives a really vague answer
it is implied that he had many roaches and not all of them are mares, although he prefers mares over stallions
@@alejandroziade2329 yeah I know that but I'm talking about the Netflix series and the game timeline it's most likely the same horse
@@brayden1892 it can't be, he change the horse in the trilogy and the nexflix series goes before that and the games are after that, so it can't be the same horse
Alejandro Ziade At no point in the video-game trilogy does it say that he got a new horse. It is a possibility that Roach is the same mare he had 20-30 years prior to the first game.
Henry Cavill is the biggest fan of "The Witcher". He read books, he played the game and now he is Geralt of Rivia! I'm glad that his dream came true
His dream was superman & that came true also
He actually admitted he never read the books until the show started production. He played the one game (witcher 3), but was a big fan of it. He couldnt beat it on Death March (so he was pretty bad at it).
KewlCrayon what does being able to play on harder difficulties have to do with understanding the character?
@@mitchellp7739
Nothing, its just adds to the information he revealed.
It didnt change the fact that he stated he was a big fan of the game, but he also said he wasnt very good at it too. No need to imply ill intention, just relaying what the actor said himself.
KewlCrayon Your comment gave the impression that you think he isn’t the best for the role because he didn’t beat the game on the hardest difficulty
At least they kept Yennefers purple eyes. Something Game of Thrones couldnt even do for Daenerys.
@Admire Kashiri they can be easily added digitally.

The witcher cast are messed up.. lol expect for Geralt obviously
Why is Everyone whining about Jaskier's name ? It's his real name,he's only called Dandelion in English,in France it has always been Jaskier
But it’s made by English speakers and must of the viewers probably know dandilion also it should be buttercup if they want the polish name in English
It's a Polish story, but it's mainly the game fans. I just wish he didn't look like a fuckboy college student from 2005. Dandelion's hair and goatee would have been cooler.
Nahlia Olwë because wtf is a Jaskier. Dandelion is so much cooler
@@brucenatelee the character who's portrayed as being a sleaze is being played by an actor who looks like a sleaze..... what a shocker
I don’t really mind it, even though I’m more used to calling him Dandelion. My only problem with it is that it’s gonna cause a bit of confusion among the new fans, when they start reading books (in english) or play the games. But that’s nothing new, since GOT did the same thing, though mostly with minor characters.
Uhmmm, u guys missed the Nilfgardian ballsack armor.

Clearly WatchMojo didn't read the books.
Geralt's eye scar was only a thing in the games.
In the books geralt have scars but nothing was mentioned about the scar on the left eye.
Yeah, it's actually brought up when Geralt and Ciri reunite in Witcher 3. Ciri says that she at first thought she was dreaming when she saw Geralt, until she saw he had a new scar over his eye.
The video doesn’t imply that Geralt received a scar in the books. It points out that the games are set later, so he’s more grizzled, including his eye scar. What’s clear is that you read what you wanted to into the video
@@DurandirWoodfine 4:52 they said the beard is from the games and that netflix missed the eye scar
Nilima Debbarma it’s a video showing the differences between the show and the game. Not the games/show and the source material. So them pointing out the scar as a difference makes complete sense whether it’s source material based or not
@@Huskerfan9495 watch the video again. they talkabout Geralt's beard and after that they say that the games adapted the scar while netflix did not.
Yennifer acting like she never was a hunch back
How do you act like a hunchback tho?

@@wezzsimple6612 lol you killed him 😂😂🔥
@@supasaiyannegro9395 by the time she meets geralt she hasnt been a hunchback for like 30 years

When you complete season 1 of Witcher, you don’t get a platinum trophy achievement.
No...you only get that for finishing the books...in Polish!
Netflix series is decent, games are a masterpiece (strictly talking about the story)
yep.. Netflix witcher is an Ok'ish. good time killer, but cavill carried the whole show on his back.
The story itself was very underwhelming (The Wild Hunt, Dijkstra’s ploy, Geralt’s character development) all of it had potential, but executed poorly
Fahrudly Hauzan Don’t way that when Jaskier was as big of a part of the show as geralt
Wezz Simple I think the fact that you could get so many different endings depending on your decisions and how every time you had to make a decision you felt that pressure bc you were afraid of making a bad one, that’s what made this game a masterpiece
@crews johnns agreed
What about Geralt’s medallion? I thought the one in the show didn’t look as cool as the one in the games.
but thats how it might look in the books. Rather said its described like this in the books
Yeah the one in the games look so much better
I also think the medallion in the games would have been kinda impractical on the costume. I feel like it would be annoying every time it flies up in Henry Cavills face (what with all the giant pointy ends and such). It does look cool though!
The show is based on the books. Not the games
@@FzPura yeah we know but where just saying the one of the games look better
Seeing how the show is based on events from before the games, perhaps you should include the books themselves as a point of comparison.
You expect someone at mojo to actually read. They can barely pronounce words and names most of the time.
@@mariecherrytree fair enough lol
@@mariecherrytree I cringe when they were try to pronounced the name of a few characters.
I suck at english but that's because it isn't my first language. They speak English and don't even know how to pronounce it right
@@nikhilnewse3318 The show is based in the books
The show doesn't follow the books at all
I prefer yen in the game personally
Yennefer in the game is a million times better
I think everyone does tbh
All the characters are better in the game lol.
True.
But that's animation and it's very hard to do things exacy
@@helenline1790 Guys this is live action. Movements, makeup and effects you see in the games not all can be done in the show. Personally I love the game characters but the movie has a great Geralt(features, voice and movement) Yennefer is Great as well(the eyes, the jet black hair and clothes, not to mention the excellent acting)
The girl who plays Ciri was a wise choice. She looks so young in the show but in real life her and Yen look the same age, her acting is great too. I had problems with Tris cause she didn't have red hair
You know the frustrating thing for me about Jaskier? When Jaskier decides to throw in the Elves in his ballad, primarily because "Respect doesn't make history" line he throws out.
While the novels? Jaskier was pretty adamant about not including them in the tale because he was worried about humans chasing the elves into the mountains and killing them and he doesn't want to personally add to their suffering.
I actually laughed out loud at Roach. For real though. In the games it's honestly easier to run yourself than deal with Roach sometimes. Getting stuck on every tree gets tiresome.
One big difference between the show and the game: there is no flying hores in the series
I'm sorry what
@@illchangemyusernamewhenith9130 Fairly sure they meant to write horses lol
Flying hores u mean wild hunt?
You mean Teleporting horse?

As a long time fan of both books and ALL games, I hate when this series is almost completely compared to only Witcher 3. Yeah, it's the most popular of the 3 and one of the best games of the generation, but still, even this list had like 2 references to Witcher 1 and 2. And most of the "differences" in this list are just by the fact that there is like 10 years between source material (books) and the video games.
Also, Triss hair colour is MOST TRUE to the source material in Witcher 2, Sapkowski has stated this himself.
Yeah like how they compared Ciri in the earlier games is portrayed as a boy to disguise her identity.
Raid is and has been dead for a while now
Serlin S Its always been
Na, these are its last dying gasps
Somehow the game vendor still has money to spend on getting plugs by youtubers.
How can something die if it was never alive to begin with?
I think Raid Shadow Legends is no part of the games, tv series or the books...
It is, everytime sometime takes a dump.
But it is a fantasy RPG.

“I want to show you the game literately everyone is talking about”
No kidding
Deadass when I saw the Raid Shadow Legends intro I thought it was a joke.
So we’re not going to talk about Fringilla?
Fringilla, Vilgerfortz, Istredd, Triss and Yennefer are not to be mentioned because of polical correcteness, otherwise we will all be labeled as racists
Marcus Aurelius does her skin color even matter lol?
you people have nothing better to do than cry over people having different color skin that what they had in the book? lmao
Nick Ando when it feels out of place and forced. It kinda ruins the immersive feel
@@deecyp64 It does.
Because she is supposed to look like Yennefer, like a doppleganger of Yenn.
- As an example. Katherine Pierce and Elena Gilbert (both played by Nina Dobrev) are a carbon copy of each, since Elena is a doppleganger of Katherine. So it makes sense both characters being played by the same actress or 2 actresses with similar looks.
- That's what should have been done with Fringilla and Yennefer.
- I mean, Geralt caled her (Fringilla) Yennefer when he slept with her... because of how much they looked alike.
- Does the actress that plays Fringilla looks like Anya Chalotra (actress that plays Yennefer) at all?
04:27 Not to mention that Geralt in the books actually hates his facial hair.
Exactly. Some people really don't know the series is based in the books huh.
Watch mojo can bearly pronounce names so they wouldn't include the books for good comparison 😐
Looking forward to seeing Ciri and Yennefer interact in season 2. Seeing the beginning of their relationship evolve would be a plus for fans of the books and games.

Bruno Oliveira Even? Watchmojo has always been a shit
im so disappointed in triss version in the series
I think the hair colour is what I miss the most. But I feel like we'll get used to it.
@Crazy Cletus in the book at least it's mentioned that triss was so wounded that she wasn't recognizable until the magicians healed her. the red hair was her decision from probably her own transformation( like yennefers)
What do you know Garvey
Preston another settlement needs our help though, right? What’re you doing on CZcams?!
which one you do not like about this triss trait ??
I wish Geralt and Ciri met before Cintra fell like in the books, would of made the reunion far more impactful
Would have been more impactful but also more convoluted. Fitting Ciri’s misadventures in Brokilon into her escape from Cintra streamlined the story
DurandirWoodfine I understand I read the books and was in tears when they reunited in the show the impact is far less also I didn’t like that Geralt was in Cintra when it fell why does destiny all of a sudden not want to bring them together? Doesn’t make much sense
Jake Dapper because destiny knew that Ciri still had things to learn about herself before meeting Geralt
Mitchell P but she still could of learned these things if she was with Geralt definitely would of made more sense to just not have him there
Jake Dapper sure it could have happened then but it didn’t and it still worked very well. And you’re acting like this was the series finale and we aren’t getting more seasons of Geralt and Ciri together
Being sponsored by Raid is like an epic meme right now?
No it's not...

#9 has to be the STUPIDEST entry ive ever seen on one of these lists. Youre really gonna count a glitching horse on a video game as a difference on a tv show? What? You expected the horse to glitch in the show too??? Wow...just wow.. the quality on these lists man

@@mitchellp7739 that was hilarious 😂
Damn whenever I hear cavill speak he reminds me of geralt from the games. Damn it.
Cavill you ruled that role. Hands down cavill is geralt of rivia.
I love Yennefer from the game. She's a mature and somewhat elegant woman. In the show however, she mostly struck me as a power thirsty brat
Mature? She teleports Geralt hundreds of feet in the damn air above a body of water over a bed.....
And shes white, both in the games and the books.
@@UnifiedEntity lol fair point. Still seems more like a grown woman in the game to me though
@@UnifiedEntity It wasn't over a bed, More who he did in the bed.
@@Jiren261 Yeah, when he had bloody AMNESIA. Even if she thinks he should man up and beg forgiveness or whatever, Geralt is not to blame for not staying faithful to a relationship he knew nothing about. It's not like he was faking. Honestly, I've always thought Yennefer is a jerk. I spent most of my game time letting her dig her own way out of her messes.
List starts at 1:33
Thank you! May you live forever
It was bad when Marvel butchered Spider-Man's redheaded love interest for the movies, and now it feels as history is repeating itself with Triss in the netflix series. Why does Hollywood hate iconic and hot redheaded ladies?
Even Ariel
Geralt only had a beard in the third game not the first two. You can't say it's a difference between the games and the show if it's only 1 of 3 games lol
I have a strong feeling Geralt will be using more signs in the upcoming season, they probably only wanted to give a taste in the first season and not go all out with his powers yet. Plus, since the show was so well-received by audience - they may even have a bigger budget next time, therefore even better looking monsters, CGI, white wigs, and glowing cat-eye contacts lol, since those have been criticized harshly.
So ... at least half of the "differences" are about the show being years before the game. It's like listing "differences" between Battlefield 1 and WWII.
Witcher 3: game of the decade
Witcher tv show: needs a bigger budget and CDPR
Jeffrey Sebastian Tavera Camelo true but I wouldn’t complain if cdpr helped out in the writing process.
@Jeffrey Sebastian Tavera Camelo I remember the first witcher tv series. It was bad, very low in quality and aired only in poland.
Derrick Fritts most of CDPR’s good story takes place after the story in the books so it wouldn’t make sense to bring them on since this show is adapting the story from the books
Witcher 3 was game of the decade till gow destroyed it
@@shaany78677 I would have to disagree on that one.
I don’t think anyone is talking about that Raid game
I didn’t like the way Eist was portrayed he and Calanthe should’ve had more screen time
Nor did I like how Moussack was portrayed, I mean, they fucking killed him, which kind of fucks up the continuity since Moussack is Ermion in The Witcher 3. But other than that I just dislike like how they don't portray the Skelligers as hardy Nordic Viking types. Even in the books The Skelligers were described as the "vikings" of the continent, and on the audiobook the voice actor also acts them out as having more norid accents.
i actually really like eist
Boston Towny4life exactly the personality they should of had wasn’t there
Dogo Doge Don’t get me wrong he’s a total badass in the show but in the books he’s like 100 times better

It's based on the books, guys. lol
And still black and brown washing is present, there is no Polish feel to it and everyone is somehow following a feminist agenda.
@@cerfreferf6600 how can an imaginary world be black and brown washed? Which by the way, is not a thing. We whites have been too predominant for that to be a thing.
@@martukiguerrero That is a incredibly stupid statement. Black washing/ race swapping is a big problem and is indeed a issue with TV and movies today, and the past doesnt change the fact that the character is supposed to be white based on the creators image. Also if its not a big issue to those that say for people to get over it, then we need a white Black Panther, a Asian Storm, a Hispanic Luke Cage, etc. You know, for "diversity".
@@martukiguerrero Stop chastising yourself.
@@CrowFuu now that's incredibly stupid. Black panther's race, for example, was extremely relevant to the plot. Here it isn't.
Triss was also described with cornflower blue eyes so the games depiction was as actually closer to the books than the show was
Triss was also described as having blue eyes and, looking young, in fact younger then Yen...just saying ;]
and she was no good sorceress, she nearly messed up every time creating magic. Besides, she was an uninteresting character in the books.
Not to be that dude but it mostly based off the books, not the games
My biggest issue is: WHERE TF IS GERALT'S SECOND SWORD
The producers of the show hate gingers.

Now I definitely gotta play the games
Controls are not the best but the world lore and characters kept me playing
Its the game of the decade for most list (even watchmojo)
Anybody who has only seen the show should play the games! Recommend the 2nd and 3rd game (third being the best), the 1st game however is... not the best I would not recommend starting with it.
maszlagma I bought the first 2, after watching the show, and having played the 3rd one it sounded like the right thing to do. The controls of the first one are... rough, to say the least lol
The controls are pretty clunky, but everything else is great.
I am fine with the differences, and I found that the books ended up being more of a Ciri series of books in the end, hopefully the series goes in that direction
The actor REALY nailed the voice.
What about Mousesack? He's a totally different character in the games and in the show.
I was thinking the same thing. I also thought they'd bring up his name change along with Jaskier's
@@SentientPotatoXIII He would be Myszowór. A bit difficult for English speakers.
You do not know that Geralt spoke of Roach in game that he named his every horse 'Roach'.
They said that Roach is Geralt’s most trusted companion, which is true even given that Geralt has had more than one Roach
Tris has blue eyes and Yennefer has a pale beautiful face in the books.
It would be much better if you did a comparison video to the books.
As the show is not based on the game but the books, like for example where the color of the hair of Triss is actually correct from the book in the show.
Disliked just because raid shadowlegends
What about king Foltest? He looks old and fat in netflix (he reminded me of the bloody baron in some way). Foltest is described as young and handsome (even in the game). I think foltest deserved better.
i was wondering why they switched dandelions name, when i saw him i hadnt even heard his name and i just knew like hey that must be dandelion, then they said jaskier and i was massively confused

@@HannahFilmer She is half-Indian and predominanty looks Indian. Yes her Indian look is an issue and it should be plainly obvious why. A Pole or Russian could reasonably pass as a French woman but an Indian cannot That's the main reason why she doesn't look like a suitable Yennefer, who is from the Northern Kingdoms. She could have played someone who could have been from Zerrikania or Ofier (whose people are a rarity in the North, much more than the Elves and Dwarves). Yennefer from the Witcher comics that predated the games by many years didn't look Indian either.

(i think) the netflix show is based on the books rather than the video games, while Henry Cavill gets his Geralt from the video games ('cause he plays and loves the video games) & gives his own take of Geralt by having a kinda cool bizarre welsh accent. Was it the Yrden sign Geralt used against the Striga? I thought in was Quen?
So one of your differences is that Roach on the show isn't buggy... seriously?
Considering the show is based off the books and the games are CD project reds take on what happens after the books
I still can't get over Triss in this show. In the books she was described as looking much younger, almost like a teen (despite being older). And chestnut brown does has a slight hint of red, even if it wasnt anywhere near as bright as in the games. Her actor may be talented, but aside from maybe the air she _really_ doesnt look like Triss.
Mojo continues to prove they don't know what they're talking about. The striga in the first game had red hair because the person it was originally had red hair.
Big difference number one: ONE IS BASED ON THE BOOKS THE OTHER ISNT.
Well the games are set after the books I'm pretty sure. Witcher 3 at least references the books several timss
What about Fringilla? Ahhh ok. Her mention in this list would be politically incorrect.
Hey watchmojo! Do a top 10 best and worst games that got delayed.
Bought the Witcher 3 when I had no clue what it was. Couldn't stop playing. Both of my roommates bought the game after watching me play for 2 hours lol.
I love the books, the game and the show !
Can we talk about how every time Hollywood makes a character be a POC it's always at the expense of a redhead?
What's that shit? We can't make blondes or brunettes POC?
Steve_ En Triss wasn’t a red head in the book. It was something that was specific to the game.
I think I would have liked her to stay a red head though... it kinda made her stand out.
@@dianashepherd3241 "person of color" people? are you stupid.
I noticed that a lot of the time, when I compare a game, movie and book I like the most, whichever I consumed the first.
Pretty sure Geralt used Quen not Yrden against the Striga. Yrden is a magical trap. Quen is a shield or barrier and is even used in a similar fashion in a cut scene in the 3rd game where Geralt tosses a baby into an oven and uses the sign to keep the oven hatch closed.
Mike Allen I read that part of the book yesterday, it was yrden, he used it to trap himself in the coffin.
"Steel for humans and silver for monsters."
This video makes the same mistake as many in the books did, to which Geralt says, "They're both for monsters."
When Geralt says they're both for monsters he's referring to humans being terrible people, the silver sword only works on magical creatures
Why is Fringilla not included in the list?
PC
Since this is a Netflix productions, I guess we should be gratefull Geralt's role is played by Henry Cavill, not Daniel Kaluuya 😂
well, the wolf medalion is different too
Why not compare the netflix series with the books it is based on? Or compare it to polish movie and tv series? There is more then just a game.
