Honestly, ZZZ is the first game where character feel is the best way I choose to play characters. Billy has so much flow through his playstyle, even Ben I regret not building cause his parry/block skill is really meaty to hit correctly.
Ben is a really good character to use in Hollow Zero at the start of you're under-leveled and want to clear it...he leaves behind a really good Resonium when you upgrade his support too!
This will become factually wrong once we get more units who straight up have higher modifiers and better core passives. I mean, you already see it with Ellen and Zhu Yuan having disgusting modifiers and core passives that effectively make them need very little crit rate, which further allows them to build into ATK% and Crit Damage. Billy, meanwhile, has very underwhelming modifiers and an underwhelming passive. Every passing day, I pray that we either get a 5 star Billy like Dan IL in HSR or that we could go back in time and swap his and Anby's roles.
Billy Mindscape 2 is a MUST HAVE. At higher difficulty, he can keep pumping out damage while dodging with rolling shot, especially if you end up with slow dodge in Hollow Zone Zero.
They probably *don't* know is the ironic part. Might be why they're calling him suboptimal in the first place when they literally play him suboptimally.
To put it simply; Billy is by all definition bad RIGHT NOW as physical element doesn't have a great build right now so he may be good in the future. Also just play fun characters if you want
Billy’s Cinema 2 is when he really starts to take advantage of that W-Engine. It makes the movement he does while using his basic attacks act like a dodge that *can trigger perfect dodge* which can activate the w-engine’s effect and anything else that works off perfect dodge mechanics. Since his damage is better in close range you never have to worry about the slight halt in attacks to dodge. You just have to move the stick to dodge now and *never stop shooting!*
BEN!??!? But he is The Best Comfort Character? Why would anyone do that? (Funny thing, Ben wouldn't mind and would actually Agree that he is Low Tier just to not start a Conflict)
That point has been made for so long but you still get stuff like this video and its reverse (you need this character to win) all the time. All a tier list usually says is "pick top tier for easy mode, pick low tier for hard mode."
1 tip Build your supports first Suokaku,Nicole,Anby are all obtainable f2p, Build Anby for Daze aka Stun, everyone else has their own specific element, Physical is technically universal, also Koleda and Ben both utilize IMPACT and fire to trigger their effects. Avacaboo (The Avacadoo boo is currently the ONLY Healer in the game so if your dying too often try to obtain that particular A-rank bangboo, for Universal usage Butlerboo works because it litterally DELIVERS Energy to the party.) hopefully you found this mini guide helpful. The characters "Main stat" will be highlighted as yellow-orange that's the stat their kit runs around.
Being low teir doesn't mean bad, it means bad relative to the other options, it means on average putting the same amount of work into another character is more worth it -coming from a fellow Billy enjoyer

@Bennazzi I have him at c5 and he does really well with burst damage/daze if you can land the perfect EX counter (he deals around 50k with his W-engine at rank 1 lvl50) he basicly substitutes anby then I just run Nicole for the def shred/ damage Amp and then shred.
1 valuable tip for billy. Try to get crouched stance before using Special EX or his Ultimate. His core boosts ALL dmg in his crouched stance. (Regular Attacks, Dodge Attacks, Dodge Counters, Special EX & Ultimate) Getting to his crouched stance is after firing a second of his regular rapid attack, then he does a blast and changes to his crouching stance. His crouching stance lasts even after doing dodge attacks (spinning rapid fire) (As long as you don't walk out of the stance) So you can still be mobile with his crouching stance dmg bonus. Also, I really like his Dodge attacks since it's fairly strong and hits ALL enemies within range.
Fun fact, Billy just gets more powerful when you abuse rolling shot, get cinema 2 and make sure your dash attacks go from the spin into a roll. You can then farm dodge counters and ex special attacks. Then do the double punish trick where to trigger a dodge counter and let the ai the ending of the dodge counter while you swap to another party member to parry the exact same attack.
For real. She's often on par with my busted Anton in terms of damage (due to being a lot on field), but also stuns enemies and opens them to chain attack, adding so much to your overall damage These people are high
I don’t think a lot of people realize that Billy’s Crouching Shot stance buffs every attack used while he’s in it, including his ultimate. So max damage you can get with him and Nicole involves Nicole EX special active + 2 chain attack stacks + dazed enemy + Billy in Crouching Shot mode. If you fulfill all of these conditions when you use his super, his damage skyrockets
Throughout the game I have not once taken Billy off my team. The range, crowd control and way he plays just feels so smooth compared to other ranged characters like Grace, imo. I just keep on spamming the slide and shoot move (idk what it's actually called, but the one where he spins) since it hits multiple enemies at once. While no doubt pretty bad for bosses, he's really good for exploration missions.
Yeah I also only played Billy and thought "What are people talking about, he's pretty strong" and then I got Soldier 11 and man it was a eye opener, the difference is night and day.
the reason i use Billy: 1. he has 2 guns, so double the accuracy. 2. his guns are bigass guns. Have you seen how big that is? That at least a .50 AE and he has two! 3. he's a tokusatsu nerd, especially about Starlight Knight, which I can relate since I'm a Kamen Rider nerd. 4. his chain attack quote, "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? CATCH A BULLET?" is just so aggressive and condescending. 5. he's wearing red. Everyone in fiction wearing red is automatically cool in my eyes.

I’ve been maining him since the game came out and I had a feeling tier lists would put him on the bottom when I first played as him, but he’s definitely a strong character once you build him up proper. I’ve got my team atm with Billy, Zhu and Nicole, it’s a ton of fun just wiping rooms out and chaining attacks like crazy. I’m glad I was able to pick up some tips and ideas from this video, thank you for making this!
I use Billy as my ult character in the squad. Zhu Yuan, Nicole, and Billy. Zhu Yuan, at max 4pc Ether set buff, Nicole's buffs and 4pc team wide buff, plus her debuffs only does 40-50% what Billy's ult does. I have him with the 4pc Atk boost set and swap him in after two chain attacks, Nichole buff/debuff, and doing a quick dodging attack to get his W-Engine buff and he just deletes a boss. I have yet to see a character whose ult comes even close to matching. And by close I mean even doing 50% what his does. It isn't remotely a contest.

One problem I saw someone have is that they thought Billy was okay to play at range. While one would say: "Yes" to this, it's also a hard "No" to do. And that's simply only because Billy has a damage falloff the further away he is from the target, and should always, and I mean ALWAYS be played like any offensive character being right in front of the targets face.

Whenever I use Billy, the only Skills I upgrade for him are Basic Attack, Dash Attack and Ultimate. He's my best crowd destroyer and boss killer. Though, when it comes to bosses, I mostly rely on Dazing and Chain Attacks. That's where Anby comes in. His Faction Bonus allows him to have two stacks that increases his Ultimate damage by 50% each after two Chain Attacks, and the good part is that they stay and only go away once you use his Ultimate. I am using a Crit Build with him, and right now, if I remember correctly, about 125 Crit DMG and about 65 Crit Rate
Yeah, the Crowd Control it's only been relevant with the latest Hollow Zero mission "Follage Hunting" having Billy was really usefull against those tentacles that would appear middle fight.
As an f2p player Billy loves coming home to me - I have him M6 and his weapon Starlight Engine R5 (I have another one at R1 too) - I decided to build him since the gotcha said so lol - He also pairs well with my nekomata

From the initial showcase of Zzz i knew that I will build billy. As a matter of fact billy is going to be on my second team (first is ice with Lycaon cz gosh I love him)
Well, I have billy on level 60, Mindscape 6, with his signature W Engine and using 2pc wood pecker with 4pc puffer fish. I know it's a lot of stuff in there, but I never felt so satisfied playing with him, his damage is insane reaching 100k + on ultimate last hit and shredding bosses like butter. I didn't get shyu defense 10 rank S this time because the boss resist physical attacks, but boy oh boy do I wanna see it against a level 70 boss with physical weakness.
I will be doing the same thing with Seth, just waiting for him to come out so I can M6S5. But Billy is also in my agenda. I'm waiting for his M2 to invest in him fully. I'm so close just one more cinema please Billy come home 🙏🙏🙏

The way I look at the characters in ZZZ is that all of them are actually good, it's just a matter of what playstyle you want.

Being T2 in a prydwen tier list is actually pretty good. In HSR T2 is the lower end of meta characters.

As an f2p player Billy loves coming home to me - I have him M6 and his weapon Starlight Engine R5 (I have another one at R1 too) - I decided to build him since the gotcha said so lol - He also pairs well with my nekomata
While I haven’t played him since I got Nekomata (and then Ellen) I love being able to use his combo dodge roll to trigger a perfect dodge.
I think rank A characters are underrated, you get their mindscape unlocked faster. Good luck with S unless you whale out.
for me, id say billy is solid A tier. Mainly for the fact that he has the ability to shoot multiple targets even if their all around him.

Nicole is definitely high tier but I kinda refuse for anby to be C tier. She's a pretty good Stun character for Zhu Yuan

Well, I have billy on level 60, Mindscape 6, with his signature W Engine and using 2pc wood pecker with 4pc puffer fish.
I know it's a lot of stuff in there, but I never felt so satisfied playing with him, his damage is insane reaching 100k + on ultimate last hit and shredding bosses like butter.
I didn't get shyu defense 10 rank S this time because the boss resist physical attacks, but boy oh boy do I wanna see it against a level 70 boss with physical weakness.
