  • Filipinos were colonized and pacified by foreign overlords; mainly by the Spaniards and Americans, so Filipinos were and became subjects of oppression and repression.
One of the effects of foreign oppression and repression: People tend to obey their foreign masters like dogs.
It's one of the reasons why majority of Filipinos were and are friendly toward foreigners.
Majority of Filipinos are friendly to foreigners but not to their fellow Filipinos.
In fact, many Filipinos are hostile toward their fellow Filipinos who are socially and economically inferior to them.
If you will study the Philippine academic history thoroughly, you will learn that there were many Filipinos who betrayed and stabbed the backs of their fellow Filipinos for their own personal sake.
Unfortunately, stabbing of the backs and betrayal still do happen even nowadays.
In the Philippine/Filipino society: Crab mentality, insecurity and jealousy are extremely high.
Who to blame? The Spaniards and Americans brought crab mentality to the Philippines, so they can easily subdue and divide the Filipino population.
Foreigners who come to the Philippines do not understand how racist Filipinos are toward their fellow Filipinos.
Skin color is a big societal thing in the Philippines and the foreigners have no clue at all.
Filipinos with fairer skin have all the advantages; job opportunities, beauty contests and acceptance to the societal norms.
I'm not saying all, but many Filipinos are hostile to their fellow Filipinos who do not belong to their inner circles.
Crime and violence rates are extremely high in the Philippines.
Gossips and hearsay are part of Filipino/Philippine culture.
They will judge your whole personality and character based on gossips/hearsay, regardless of whether if it's true or not.

Sir Mark is right abt those in poverty. Morals and values in the homes, of those mainly in poverty, gone out the door, parents dnt care any more abt their daughters, or children, cos they are so poor, uneducated, no work, not much money, too many months to feed, results in anger, frastration, deppression, fighting, jealousy, gossip, back stabbing, results, to weakness, slavery, human trafficking, thieves, gangs, drug dealers, kidnapping rape, assults, murder, etc. Goverment needs to do something abt poor in Philliphiness,

There are so many reasons why there's a lot of babies in the Philippines specially those poor people who living in a rural area.
Some of them they were not using contrasiptive medel thats why no family planning and not thinking about children's future. But those people who living in the city and both couples have work just only two or three children. They are busy to worked everyday to earn money and they have family planning.
Its very hard to those poor people who have so many children .I think they must to think about childrens future to have a better life and not suffering their life.
The couple must to be use birth control and family planning.

Hi Mark, Im half Filipino half Spanish, born and raised in Australia, do they discriminate against half filos? My skin colour is similar to Cristiano Ronaldo's skin. I know they discriminate badly in Japan but dont have much idea how it is in the Philippines, have never been but will be going in July for the first time.

    • @jaydawg3031
      @jaydawg3031 Před měsícem +1

I'm full Filipino, I'm probably darker than you and I still haven't experienced discrimination in Japan or Philippines and I have visited 12 countries. Of course discrimination happens but if you behave well and respect the people and their culture then you should be fine wherever you go.

The problem is power. You have it, they don't. Unless you are hiring or sending a stipend to them all, can a one-time gift of rice and goodies mean that much? They need jobs, and permanent ones. What can you do to make that happen? I sense the reason for reckless behavior is the absence of hope in their lives and a feeling that they are not worth much in the world. They all seem to be eager to work, so getting them employed better and permanently should be the focus of these videos. Then they can drive their own lives. I wish you much luck in this endeavor. It breaks my heart to know they watch hope leave when you do.

Lack of economic understanding in how to build a way out of poverty is what keeps people poor. Their earnings are based on physical labour of the most basic kind without the use of good methods to amplify the results and therefore the income - this is hard, because a surplus of people keeps labour cheap in much of Asia, but it is also about mentality.
In India, I watched a group of men surfacing a road. They had a big old diesel road roller, yet the laying of the aggregates, they had 4 men working manually - 2 with shovels and 2 with a kind of woven basket to carry the aggregates. When the aggregates had been put down, they were rolled by the driver, then in came the 6th worker with a tar bucket to put down the tar, then the roller again. The supervisor was the 7th man, he just watched. Giving the supervisor a 2nd tar bucket and the aggregates guys wheelbarrows could have doubled the speed of work for under $100, but the cost of the road roller is fixed, so it would have more than doubled profit. This is the issue poor Asian countries must fix. Too many workers, too little productivity. Japan got rich by mastering efficiency.
