- The roses are in full bloom at Longmeadow as Monty tackles some emergency pruning needed on one of his favourite crab apples. In the vegetable garden, it’s time to harvest garlic and an early crop of beans. He also plants up some narrow borders in the new seating area with species that will thrive in poor, shallow soil.
Adam Frost travels to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens to discover more about the huge restoration project taking place. Nick Bailey continues to develop the design for his new forever garden.
There's a passionate couple who have dedicated a lifetime to growing and hybridising thousands of cacti, and a visit to a garden in Sheffield filled with an eclectic mix of upcycled, recycled and collected treasure.

Turf upside down in a raise bed with organic matter is called Hugelkultur, people have been doing it for decades! Nick did not just invent it...
😂😂
Regarding the crab tree, I fear the thinning of lower limbs won’t be successful. Rather I would through bolt the split in two places. Using 1/2” threaded rod and accompanying nuts and washers. Drill a suitable hole through the main trunk a couple inches below the fork and cut the rod after tightly securing the washers and nuts. Then turn your attention to the two limbs above the fork and repeat the process about 6-12” above the fork. This second rod will be a bit tricky to install since aligning the rod through the two holes made in the limbs will need to be precise. Not extra long drill bit is advised. Secure the nuts and washers as you did below, cut the rod to be nice and neat. Don’t over tighten so as to stress! And don’t worry, trees do fine with holes drilled through the trunk or limb. Monty, we love watching Gardeners World.
I reckon he made a bit of a meal of it 😬

😍🌸☘️ прекрасное видео, супер как всегда💚
Gracias¡
❤❤❤!
If only we looked after trees like they do in Japan 😢 the recurring thing is letting them over grow until at risk then chop them back , if this tree and others are trained they would last much longer
Montys apple pruning was shocking.
He tided up his rough cuts. He’s been gardening for decades. I can only imagine how much more taxing things must be when you’re being filmed as you can only cut once.
Can you cable it?
Одна из интереснейших передач, увы, на английском...
At 13.59 what is the little plant that’s going to be 2m next to pittersporum? I heard ammi don’t know this one looks like fennel anybody know please? Thanks
Ammi majus
@@RyanT1989 many thanks
Is that monty don the great cowpat.
I’ll always regret never buying the Munstead Rose 😭😭 - it was so expensive at the time, I couldn’t justify it but had I known it would’ve been discontinued, that would’ve changed everything 😌🥹✨
