good sharing... thank u
Hi There was same issue on my car which hapepened the day before and my mechanic had to break open the stering lock , where in the esl is workin
Hi, quick question. Did you have airbag light on after replacing the steering wheel. Just somebody told me that on Mercedes you will have the airbag light on on the dashboard for good if you remove the steering wheel.
Thank you
I did the same thing on my clk 350 today. After putting everything back together, my steering wheel not returning back to center when taking corners or
Making turns. I made sure it was all marked and lined up. Any suggestions? Thanks
Try turning the music down for next video. It's way too loud.
Leave the music part out. I've got Pandora for that... I am here to follow the repair sequence!
Can you please give me a list of the tools I need for the job?
Thanks for the video great job guys , I'm a mechanic and my 2011 c300 steering locked on me , I had towed my car to the Mercedes dealer ship and had them do it , they charged me $910 parts and labor , I could of done the labor myself BUT you still have to get the new part programmed and only the dealer can do this for you , or another place somewhere in Texas , not worth it guys for the do it yourselfers your better off going to the dealer believe me it's cheaper for you to go straight to MBZ
Is there only the one scrw/bolt holding the streeing column??? That's what I got from the video.
Thank you
Mason
Can I send my esl to you to reprogram ? I have that problem but I have 2008 c300
Guys I don't have enough room to swing column out am I missing something? The column is too long and it doesn't swing out do I need to remove something else on the column? I have it loose and ready to pull out just no room to swing top out.
Hey, does it matter if my locked in the "locked" or Unlocked position. Mine stopped working in the unlocked position, how is that different.? thanks
He said you dont have to pull the column if its in the unlocked position. Just pull the 4 bolts let the column hang and pull the esl
How do you put column back on upper steering shaft when your all done?
@@Cats_4_life I grabbed a short stubby hammer since there is no room down there and tapped it in with force
keep it in place, don't remove it unless ESL is locked up.
Later models retain that cheap ESL lock but only lock steering under rare conditions.
The EIS still built with poor components.
Putting the end of the steering shaft back into the u type clamp / joint type clamp...... How far in does the teeth of the shaft need to go and whats an easy way to do this?
These are old posts, so if anyone is really looking for an answer then you can message through here.
@@joetwo227 hello and yes I still an answer please. I heard it should slide in without much effort but it definitely wasn't going in without a hammer. I was able to hammer it in just until it reaches the smooth gap. I couldn't hammer anymore past that so I just tightened it really good there and praying I don't hit Any bumps hard enough to knock it out.
hey i replaced the motor and it still giving me the same issue. Is there anything else i need to do to the circuit board before i put it back together?
Did it work after you replace the motor and do you had to do anything else to get it running?
I just remove my steering.

Biggest challenge was taking the steering off
Heay.i been doing electronics on cars all my life....reason i said this that i never putt my self in competition...wise man at the shop told me...ain't no competition with u..!!
Lol
But this video showing the character of this guy.ways to move components....tell me that he is some one not to play with....
Man with an attitude...a good one that is....
Great video...
Definitely will follow..
My only question is, how much do you guys charge to do that type of work?
ur video not complete, I removed what u did on my w212 it don't seems so easy and straightforward like u showed, your video is just a conclusion of the process not full details what will encounter during dismantling process.
Thanks for the vid, please piss the music off next time lol
I had to do this on my wife's C300 (ESL fail at 90K miles), change the water thermostat (failed at 70K), disc brake pads don't cover the whole rotor disc surface, so pad replacement will always require turning the rotors or replacing, and tires have mismatched designs for the front and rear, which means you can't rotate. My poor Tundra gets so jealous! I won't deny the feel and ride of my wife's Mercedes, but it comes with the price of being stranded and high maintenance. Unless you don't mind shelling out for overpriced and constant maintenance or have a husband to do it for you, simply put, buy Toyota!
buy proven Japanese brands is the best defense against priceless high maintenance.
People shouldn’t buy Mercedes if they can’t afford the repair let alone waste their time to go through all this on their own....this could possibly cause more damage. This video was posted so these guys can make money by you doing all the hard work for and send them parts to repair it on bench.
no need to remove steering wheel when removing column it will all come out from the front no problem.
@phillip cole I do 2/3 a month, the only time it will not come straight out with wheel attached is when electric adjustable steering installed as motors get in the way.
Mine is turned all the way to the left does it matter that my wheels arent straight? Can i still take it out without removing the steering wheel l?
@@robertholderman7824 it makes no difference, just be sure to put back as removed ie. dont turn steering wheel once removed.
this is all because mercedes used a cheap esl
Fuck Mercedes on that one fucking bullshit the SMALL CHIP THAT MAKE WHOLE CAR ACTUALLY WORK and they make it so cheap that is break at 60-100k miles like thatfucking wack
For a car that over twice the msrp price of most average sedans, one would think a company with higher quality higher price vehicles would be built to a better standard
@@multiblade04 Remember, you are paying for "the best or nothing". I mean, why would you lock a steering wheel anyway...
@@Backfire10 ah, at the time I thought my ESL was broke so I was rattled. Later I figured the key was broke so I just ordered a new key for 300$ Expensive key but still the best I could have hoped for
