    I mean no offense by this, but it's really nice getting music tips from someone who isn't quote-unquote Pro

    I love how he starts these videos making mistakes, but as it goes you can hear his fingers getting warmed up and more comfortable. By the end he's running through what he talked about with ease.
    Yes, please bring the 5ths tuned bass guitar. I've been wanting to explore that approach

    Aha! Good tip about the mids vs the highs. Even on a high 220 A the octave "fundamental" harmonic is 440Hz, and the next overtone would be 880; both of those fall well within most mid low and bottom of the mid high controls, respectively, not up further. Now there are other, brighter overtones generated, but not really worth the other issues that can happen with highs set way up.
    Having said that, what to do about volume? On my bass, at least, these harmonics all seem to be quite a bit lower in volume. Besides raising the mids, what else can I do to help make them more pronounced? Raise volume and then be gentle on the actual fretted notes? Can't seem to make it even out. Maybe it's my flats.

      Use your left hand to fret and put your thumb on the fret you want to make a harmonic with and play with your fingers

      @nathanwahl9224 Před 2 lety +1

      Ha, on the Eb string, of course! But you can fret an Eb higher up somewhere and get it on the 5th. I think. Great, now I gotta g try it.

    You asked for corrections , so it's not 2/3rds, it's 3/2. Otherwise it would be lower than the original root:).
