Im glad my phone survived. The tripod has been replaced. Cameras for doing videos are on my list of things to buy along with a computer to make editing easier.

I have a history of rope work in emergency services and law enforcement but we never had to deal with trees swaying in the wind and their inherit unpredictability in general. Sorry about the tripod but I guess it's to be expected from time to time. Be safe man.

Pine is best because of smell and easy to climb if needed. The least favorite is cottonwood because they stink.

On a typical tree.. how far in to the tree do you cut the front wedge? Halfway? A third? Just curious
Typically 1/3 unless it's just a stub, then go closer to 1/2
