All of ur comments are so true, she's the goddess of pop without doubt, I've heard her live and she completely outsings everyone in her genre I.e.madonna, what's her name (oops)and all the others in the same field as her. Sorry, wasn't being rude but she outshines them, not saying she has all the best songs, just saying in my opinion she has the best voice

The "Rhythm of Love" album has what many fans consider the golden quartet of Kylie singles: "Better The Devil You Know", "Step Back In Time", "What Do I Have To Do?" and "Shocked". Some of Stock/Aitken/Waterman's best creations, and super examples of dance-pop at the start of the 90s.

I will NEVER forget the first time I seen this video. I was staying the weekend at my grans and I was out early with my cousins when my gran shouted to me Kylie's new video is coming on ... I dropped everything and ran into the house. When the video started I got full body goosebumps ... it was amazing. I remember my gran just laughing at me. Afterwards I ran out and said WOW ... Kylie got sexy 🤗 it's the most AMAZING video EVER and one that fans will never forget. This was Kylie taking control and its still my favorite era and always will be. Kylie is a legend 💖 🙏 󾓪

One of Kylie's classics. You should try What do I have to do - this was a period where Kylie was starting to break away from SAW - she said that she had no control of her music but this was the first time she had control of her image. She was in a relationship with Michael Hutchence at this time (if you look closely she is wearing his ring with his initial on it). She had been famous for a number of years by this point.

There is a gay night in London every Saturday called G-A-Y that has been running since the early 90s at a couple of locations, they usually have a big name performer at 1am (Kylie has done it a few times, Madonna and Britney have also appeared just to indicate how important this night is) and BTDYK is still played at 12:30am every week to warn everyone that there’s 30 minutes until the performance.... pre covid of course.... the song is iconic in the UK

  • @jevousemmerdetouslesthunde2391

Hi Dereck! Thanks your your react on Kylie especially this song, one of my fav' from her this year with "Step Back In Time" ( a good song too with a retro 70's music video!!).
I noticed in 1990, the sound changes and you recognize on the ears this particular sound on every songs no matter the artists.
All of a sudden there were a lot of dance music songs wich emerged in the charts with lots of artists and dance music groups (Mc Sar And Real Mac Coy,Technotronic, Confetti's, Snap, Cartouche with "Feel The Groove": very known at the time, MC Sugar, 2 Statics feat. Nasty cat: "Feel The Beat", the song with a rap session, in Club Mix is insane!), Black Box, Rozlyne Clarke with "Eddy Steady Go" an American female singer, Twenty 4 Seven: "I can't Stand It" a well known song we recongnize Captain Hollywood an American rapper who will found captain Hollywood Project with "More And More" in 1992 a big hit), Secchi feat. Orlando Johnson, Mac Tonic and Uzzy-D, Indra, Lonnie Gordon, M.C.B Feat.Daisy Dee, Two 4 You : Better Let You Know: a song very known with the chorus...): invasion Eurodance and the same sounds in a loop!
Do you know for this M/V, her mother was her makeup artist on set!
I advise you if you liked this song to listen to the Extended Version : Juanki's 12" Extended Version, it's like the 7" version but longer with additional sounds and vocals and also The Mad March Hare Mix.
It is the best for me even it exists several remixes from this song.
    Thanks guy.

"Better The Devil You Know" is Kylie's best song period. And "Rhythm Of Love" is her best Stock/Aitken/Waterman produced album too. This album is amazing : pure dance music. Even songs that weren't singles, deserved to be, like "Always Find The Time" and fan-favorite "Things Can Only Get Better", you should check those out, you would go nuts with them, I'm sure.

Kylie has grown up from her sitcom image in that video. You should try to react to INXS (Hint: Original Sin/Need you tonight), Dereck (Kylie loved the lead-singer.. there must be more than a physical reason). As for Stock, Aitken and Waterman you should react to the almost forgotten Mel & Kim sisters' "Respectable" or "Showin' out" hits around 1986/1987. Especially pay attention to their choreography.

An utter chameleon. She had a girl next door image - then dating Michael Hutchence realised her sexual side & she said it was such an important relationship to her - the singles 90-91 from Rhythm of Love album are THE BOMB! ❤

You mentioned 'simple lyrics'... but if you listen, the lyrics are very dark and very intelligent, put to an uplifting dance beat. I'm not critisizing but you've got to appreciate what she's saying in the song.

Check out the acoustic version of this song on The Abbey road Sessions. The lyrics take on a new feel without the pop production. Give it a spin. My favorite live performance of this song will definitely be on The Fever tour.
