"Reincarnation revenge" was a genuine genre of 70s Bollywood. In fact the first movie they reference in the opening scene of OSO is Karz, which is a reincarnation revenge movie itself.
The incident with the field on fire is based on a true one where the actor Sunil Dutt jumped into a fire that had broken out on the set of the iconic movie Mother India to save actress Nargis. They later married.

    • @Ozukovsky
      @Ozukovsky Před 6 měsíci +10

No that song is from karz with Rishi Kapoor and simmi Grewal. They even put the same revenge song sequence in this movie as well in the climax dastaan song. Karz had the same climax

There’s a theory that Shanti priya was based on an actress called Divya Bharti who was a very big actress in the early 90s. SRK made his debut with her in a movie called deewana(1992). She also married a filmmaker and died after falling from her falcony/window while her husband was at home. SRK was an struggling actor while she was one of the biggest superstar in bollywood. Just like the movie SRK got famous and bigger superstar than her after her death and made this movie to tell people her story but SRK never said anything about it. It could all be just coincidence.

The Disco Song is Ranbir Kapoor's father's song. He is is the one dancing in it.
The Superstar Rajesh Kapoor gets his name from Hindi Cinema 's first superstar Rajesh Khanna and The iconic Kapoor family.
When SRK and his mother are talking, there are referencing Mughal-e-Azam, one of the biggest movie in Indian Cinema (Starring Ranbir and Kareena Kapoor's great grandfather, the OG Kapoor. Prithviraj Kapoor.)
The guy who was covering up his face on the red carpet was an actual celebrated actor who would often cover his face with his hands while acting.
The movie shooting scene in which SRK saves Deepika from fire is actually a real life love story. Sanjay Dutt (Munna Bhai from Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.), his mother, Nargis was shooting for a movie (the iconic movie Mother India and got stuck in fire) was saved my Sunil Dutt, he was a junior artist then. He suffered third degree burns. And while nursing him, they fell in love.
(Fun fact: Sunil Dutt, actual father of Sanjay Dutt was casted to play Munna bhai (Sanjay Dutt)'s father's role in the movie Munna Bhai)

    • @Stonytude

All Farah Khan movies h've this endearing quality to them even if what's happening in front of view is pure bonkers and sometimes silly but (always emotionally charged.)
This is the OG Bollywood. She is a very famous choreographer after Saroj Khan. She has special eyes for lighting, choreo nd musicality. Here, she kills SRK's character b'coz she believes a small time actor like him can't climb & reach the other end of the career ladder in Hindi film industry in one lifetime due to nepotism. Yes, this was her rxn to 'Bombay Dreams' in which she worked as a choreographer. 😂😂

  • @CurlyCat-ws6tm

Back in the day of old Bollywood, an actress stops working when they get married, because no one wanted to cast her in romances. It would not sit well with the masses who were conservative and wouldn't see her as a love interest anymore (the same dynamic as kpop idols not dating).
Hence why Shanti's marriage was kept a secret, because her career and Mukesh's money making would be over. Also there are a few mysteries of Bollywood actresses who mysteriously or suspiciously died through the years, which the movie might be hinting at.
Also also maybe to the idea that if you weren't related to or 'doing favours' for someone established in the industry, you would just inevitably remain a ''junior artiste'' (like Om Prakash's dad).

For example, him saving her from the fire is referencing the sets of the iconic film Mother India in which the lead, Nargis, really did get trapped in a fire and was rescued by her co-star Sunil Dutt. They two fell in love on that set.

This is movie 4 Bollywood buffs that pays tribute to the 70's & there are many exaggerated tropes like the meldramatic filmi mother, the loyal childhood friend & the aspiring actor who reincarnates to avenge his lady love.the music too is classic & with the inclusion of all the elements of fire water, wind etc.tge ist song has stars of that era who were iconic included & those sections are a tribute to the original.the acting especially the comedy is deliberately ott & most of the drama is theatrical.this movie is a visual retrofeast & its music foot tapping & nostalgic.how many actors did u recognise in deewangi song? They all did an appearance 4 free & most of the heroines acted with srk like rani, kajol ,juhi, karishma.tge tiger scene was a spoof of south movies & not Bollywood.the costuming, art direction, music, cinematography, choreography & especially the tribute & love of Bollywood came through with farah khans fun & passionate direction.

Amazing movie. Love that you guys enjoying it so far. Reincarnation is a common trope in Bollywood. It is part of the Bollywood movie history. Some of the big movie in recent years has it as well. People use it to correct the mistakes made by themselves in their previous life. Sometimes incarnation to take revenge for the death of the father (same actor). In this one, revenge for his lover/getting a second chance to live his dream. it is making fun/giving homage to Bollywood tropes and the industry in general. underrated movie(even though it gets the respect but not enough), and an underrated director.
