    I have to thank you, because your videos truly have gotten me to love and appreciate watercolors. I picked up the roman szmal caput mortuum after your last video and am enjoying it so much. These quinacrodones look so lovely and blend in such a pretty way with other pigments thats got me so inspired
    Thank you again!

      This truly warms my heart, thank you for letting me know. Your message confirms that I am on the right path. Caput Mortuum is one of my favorites. What a great mixer! My favorite quinacridones are PO47, PO48, PO49, PR122, and PR206. Sadly, the first three have been discontinued (although I source them from artisanal studios) so I am enjoying these quinacridones that are still commercially available. Thank you for being here! 🙏

      I am delighted to hear that! When it comes to watercolor painting, we need to take our time so we could cherish the moment and notice the properties of each pigment. I find it meditative too. This is why I don't have sped-up videos on my channel. It is our time to relax so we need to let the colors unfold without rushing. It is heartwarming to know that you like it this way too! Thank you for being here!

    #StiviWonders - T Y so very much for all your fabulous videos. I like your style and presentation. One of my favorite watercolor brands is RS. I enjoy that they r full pans, as I've discovered over the years that half pans do ruin my brushes rather quickly. This brand of paint is excellent. Quinacridones are my favorite by far - luminous and wonderful mixers. Very nice video, and will look forward to your next one!!!

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  Před 8 měsíci

      @KatheeRN That warms my heart to hear! I strive to make the pigments and your experience the hero of my videos and your comment confirms that I am on the right path. Roman Szmal is doing an excellent job here, graciously offering this extensive Quinacridone collection that is not requiring a massive financial investment. It's a win for everyone! Please allow me to share. This isn't my first Roman Szmal Arts' video but every time I filmed with them, it is inevitable that memories of my first pans would play rewind. I remember when they were only $0.98 cents and it felt criminal to be paying only that much for handmade watercolors so I checked out with a good amount of pans. I purchased them because it moved me that Roman Szmal took a bold step to introduce his creations to the world. The quality turned out to be beyond astonishing so I kept coming back! Jackson's Art is doing a great service to the watercolor community by providing Roman Szmal Arts a platform to reach a wider audience. In exchange, watercolorists are given access to professionally-crafted, richly-pigmented watercolors. My heart is really invested in the success of this creative house from Poland and to be clear, I am not paid to say this. Thank you for being here!

    I have a love affair with quinacridones and the Roman Szmal quinacridones are beautiful. The violet is especially dramatic while there is something very refined about the red. I may have to splurge and grab those and the PR206, which is lovely. As always, thank you for the video.

      @@stiviwonders Yes, I am aware about the PR206. I have several tubes of it from Daniel Smith, but I wanted to compare it with the Roman Szmal. Do you see a big difference between the two if you have both?

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  Před 8 měsíci +3

      I am happy to share that there will be a PR206-focused video in the coming weeks. To answer your question, the difference is really more on vibrancy. Very subtle difference. Roman Szmal's is strongly on the "reddish-brown" side (emphasis on red) while Daniel Smith's has this pronounced earthy red-brown display. My favorite PR206 so far is Cinquasia Maroon from Michael Harding Watercolours, which you'll see in the upcoming video as well. Absolutely sophisticated. Equally elegant is A. Gallo's Quinacridone Chestnut. We can continue this fun conversation once the video is out. I think you'll love them all! Haha!

    Pr209 cherry and a light ochre or raw sienna would’ve been a good mix to try! Misty morning is pv19 and pg50 and that one’s awesome too. I love diluting quin scarlet (deep original) for skin tones and then layering on a mix of scarlet and pv55 purple for shadows, but I am more into the graphic art/comics side of art. Quin gold will no longer have a quinacridone pigment component to it in some brands, but that used to be a po49. Daniel smith used to make quin sienna, undersea green and sap green with just po49 and one other pigment, but when po49 was discontinued they replaced it with py150 and a transparent brown pigment po48 and now that one’s gone too! Maybe it’s time for new two pigment mixes? Pr206 is also discontinued.

    • @stiviwonders

      Thank you for sharing your ideas! It is fascinating to see that the Comment section transforms into an idea exchange hub. For my work, I prefer mixing single pigments. With PO49 out of commercial production, I believe it is fair to expect that most mixes that have them will be reformulated. I cherish the quinacridone stock that I have, especially PR206, PO47, PO48, and PO49. It will be so sad once I run out but hey, c'est la vie! You mentioned PR206. Please allow me to share. My favorite ones so far are Quinacridone Chestnut from A. Gallo and Cinquasia Maroon from Michael Harding. I highly recommend trying them out. For PO49, I love the sophistication of Della Magna's Quinacridone Gold. It's amazingly stunning! Again, I am glad you are here and thank you for watching!

    Not hinting, but saying outright. Unfortunately both PO48 and PR206 are discontinued pigments and these paints, as well as paints from other brands consisting of these pigments, will disappear from the market. As far as I'm aware Daniel Smith claim they have a stock that will last for years, that doesn't seem to be the case for other brands. However, I'm not particularly fond of DS versions, so if you have favourites, maybe pick up some extra ASAP. :)

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  Před 8 měsíci +1

      They haven't confirmed anything in stone so "hinting" is my polite way of delivering that news. The "slow restocking" of shelves is also indicative of the PO48 and PR206 situation. These are not "groundbreaking" news. It's just all camps are silent about the future of these pigments. But obviously, we've been in the industry for a while and could feel its heartbeat. ;-)
