Aren't these the same guys that complain that MMA had too many rules limiting their techniques?
with no rules. mma fighters would murder these so called masters in a flash. and rules are there to protect themselves when fighting not the other way around.
It’s OK to lose. It’s how we learn.
But lose like a man, not a petulant child.
Yeah, imagine of these Tai Chi people learned some stuff from wrestlers.
@@FightCommentary I think the Tai Chi folks are fans of Jesse Ventura; "Win if you can, lose if you must but always cheat."
I've done a ton of smokers and I gotta tell you, you remember the losses more than the wins. 'the best lessons are forged in pain'
@@collumjiggasEven in life its true but we tend to not truly learn life lessons because of our egos.
@@XARIER39 I know a few ways to dissolve your ego, one of them is on the mat. Another is a near-death experience. Another is with shamanic ritual. None of these are easy routes.
Every Xu Xiaodong video gets an automatic thumbs up from me. That man lives up to his name.
Traditional martial artists are ALWAYS shrieking about: "the reason nobody uses our martial art in 'sport fighting' is because there are too many rules! Our martial art was created to fight without rules, where anything goes!"
And the moment you challenge them to a fight, they keep trying to impose crippling rules that prevent the other side from doing any techniques on them.
Traditional martial art is good to fight against untrained people like farmers but not against a professional fighter .
Ignoring the fact that some professional fighters do implement traditional martial arts in their training.
It's more the fact that these "masters" spent their life lazing around and scamming instead of putting in the hard work, so at best, they are mildly trained in the basics...at worst...well, they get annihilated in a matter of seconds.
The only issue I have with this is that there were a heap of rules put in place in this bout. Who's to say which side they benefited? I would prefer that both sides agree to no rules bouts. Maybe 1 rule - No killing or permanent maiming (Like gouging out the eyes for example). Then no one could complain about being artificially suppressed.
@@cashcash5995I heard it was harder to use on untrained fighters because untrained fighters don't have proper techniques and are unpredictable because they lack training
I was pretty impressed tai chi guy managed a sprawl, seemed to use 98% of his gas tank on it though
From my experience, tai chi specializes in balance. They teach some good core concepts that can branch out into other martial arts, but I would never use tai chi exclusively as a self-defense martial art. I think lots of martial arts have this weakness. Modern Karate and Taekwondo have this apparent weakness.
@@gamrage I mean let's not get carried away, it was just a basic sprawl. I just didn't expect to see any actual techniques from him.
it kinda looked like a BJJ blue belt going to his first wrestling class. Like you can tell he's done something before, but he's still getting smashed and not by the top guys.
The guy who beats the brakes off of the tai chi guy is named 王贺。He trains MMA and is 5-0. I used to work out with him in Beijing.
The wrestler stunted on him. He didn't even apply any pressure with the knee on belly. He did that just to let the coward know "I could do a whole lot more than just grab your leg buddy."
It's not a matter if he applied pressure or not. It's about etiquette. Even if the other guy was being an @ss it's still a bad move. Brother Xu would've acknowledged that it was unacceptable if he wasn't already annoyed at the guy complaining.
@@goldenlion7147how about the etiquette to not interrupt and complain about the rules mid fight?
He even feigned a punch for a mili sec before pulling away, and watch his disgust as he walked away against the pig on the ground lmfao.

That outburst by Xu was magnificent. I had to watch it three times. It feels like a clip that theatre professors would show to their students

I’ve never seen one of these MMA vs TCM videos that convince me the TCM guy is an ACTUAL “master. It’s always just some dude who does tai chi. Calling someone a “master” doesn’t make him a master.
Yes. The ones promoted as Masters are the ones who made themselves useful, economically and politically.
Waiting for follow-ups, good job fellow Chinese fighters! Also the subtitle translation is on point. Good job! 支持你哈哈
The Tai Chi Master just can't accept that what he practices just don't work.

C'est plutôt qu'il n'arrive pas à appliquer cet art martial je pense .
Nice video, Jerry. Very entertaining.

Any thing with Xu Xiaodong is fascinating. His fight with tcm is so entertaining.
This has been a problem of mine with traditional martial arts schools, a lot of the instructors are waaaay out of shape. Even if you argue "oh i'm just overweight but am in shape" there is no way you will be able to keep up with someone who is not only good at martial arts, in shape for their style, and has also conditioned their body.
😂😂😂 When XU snapped, I cracked up! I see why he got upset😂😂😂😂 THAT DUDE LOST AND NOW HE WONNA CHANGE THE RULES😂😂😂
Thanks Bro. I just got inspiration to write a screenplay for a comedy movie, in the same vein as "Shaolin Soccer". It will be called "Tai Chi Wrestling".
Xu really sounding like a three kingdoms actor, I love the flair he gives to defending his honor.
I practiced Tae Kwon Do for 7 years, i can safely say there are no wrestling style moves, or really any grappling at all. Most of it looks really cool, but is not practical in an actual fight, basics and conditioning do help but if i were to go against a BJJ guy or a good wrestler he'd tear me apart. Once you get grabbed its like "ok welp, meh kicks are useless now"
Balance & discipline.
I learned a bit grappling.
I say you get benefit above and that makes it easier and faster if you wants to learn other martial arts.
I was sparring with my BJJ buddy. He's a purple belt, I'm a black belt in tkd, my buddy had a hard time bringing me down even after grabbing my leg, its all about balance and being squirrelly to stay up
@@rastaboy_gamesnstuff7778 "squirrelly" is my word of the year now so far in a grappling context
Conditioning, efficient body mechanics, and experience with resisting opponents, wins every time.
If that taiji guy spent 6 months of wresting or shuai jiao he would be really good
And lost some of that beer belly. Honestly tai chi guy could be so good if he dropped his ego and excuses.

Hey, Jerry. I need some advice. I wanna make fight commentary videos like you, but I have no way to get those obscure videos that you usually get. Any way to find those obscure fight videos
Jerry....you and my buddy, Ye Olde Analog Video Store, absolutely made my day with your posts. He posted a Taiwanese Kung Fu/Ninja movie by the late, great Robert Tai. He was part of the Venoms troupe and was an amazing, off the wall choreographer. Definitely look him up.
He made this film called Ninja:The Final Duel, which is batshite crazy, and was definitely a great throwback to Saturday/Sunday afternoon TV when I was little.
And then you go ahead and make the rest of my day by posting another new clip by the Phoney Destroyer himself, Xiu Xiao Dong (sorry for spelling). This was so damn cool to see him in action again.
I had an absolute LOUSY fekkin' day. And these posts definitely never fail to at least making things a bit more bearable. God bless ya, brother!
Love love Robert Tai aka 'Dai Chi-a' i luckily worked a few times w him 80s& 90s...death cage & trinity goes east...yes he is bonkers!... in a good way
Tai Chi master does not really have good moves because his base and centre of gravity are all over the place. Whatever his top half is doing is irrelevant because of that
It looks like he is used to using his weight to dominate rather than technique which is why he is so easy to off balance and take down
He does lean a lot. You see that in push hands people sometimes. They lean their entire weight on people. That's their secret to Kongjin ;)
@@FightCommentary Haha well that's also the secret to getting your balance broken instantly
The key foundation of all stand up grappling is to break someone else's balance while not being vulnerable yourself, which is a skill this guy just straight up doesn't have
Yeah, I think he's used to using his weight to push people around. So he's not got too much skill, but seeing how he moved, he had a lot of potential if he actually humbled himself and tried to get outside his tai chi paradigm. But alas, it's probably never going to happen.
@@FightCommentary yeah I agree, I would be willing to bet that with a brush up on some good fundamentals and just a lot of sparring he could be pretty formidable
Same with any of the Tai Chi people that actually do practice against real live resisting opponents, I am sure their stuff could work irl
Just need good basics and a lot of sparing hours and almost any style will become highly functional
More stories like this please
Imagine how many "rules" you need to win a fight, and you know the fake martial artists always claiming they would beat anyone if there is no rules, but when actual fight comes, all the rules starts coming out.
Funny video. Keep it up. :-)
Great vid. I'm in.
Imagine training your entire life building your image of being a push hand master and getting tossed around like a ragdoll by a guy half your weight lmao
If you remember, back when MMA got started, there were "masters" of all kinds of arts who entered and got clobbered. Turned out that none of them were real "masters" of anything, when you looked at their records. They were guys *claiming* to be masters. So far, all I've seen Xu Xiaodong and his guys fight are the same sort of wannabe's that *claim* to be masters.
@@teovu5557 Good point. But I was thinking about all the "Kung Fu", "Silat", and so on, type of guys who showed up with fancy outfits and exotic bowing and scraping, mimicking David Carradine on TV, I guess. It was embarassing. These guys weren't really experts in "Tai Chi", "Kung Fu", "Silat", etc., and they did a lot to harm the reputations of those styles. Same with the bozos who claim to be "Tai Chi Masters" and fight Xu Xiaodong ("Xiaodong" means "Little Dong"). So all the know-nothings jump on various forums and talk about how Xu Xiaodong has "exposed" Taijiquan. SMH.
This had me cracking up. Lol
There might be a gap in skill here. But it's difficult to evaluate, because there was such a big gap in speed and intensity.
Funny that it starts with him nerfing his own people to spare them a lot of hurt... no slamming. Xu Xiaodong is a legend for exposing the bullshido fakes.
I wish to see matches between different schools of fight using their own style. When they set a rule for the fight, it doesn't prove anything about their own system.
This is gold
Winning or losing proves nothing about an art but the man
Are there any clips on this guy fighting a Choy Lee Fut practitioner? If so could you please share the link?
yo, i like the green screen man
I like that this channel finds cool footage. I’m a little confused by all these challenges and supposed split between “traditional” cma and “new”. One of many examples would be Chen village folks. They fight in kickboxing and other types of tournaments a lot. And do well.
This Taiji guy just didn’t realize what he was dealing with cuz he’s gotten older and fatter but not more humble. He may be good at push hands in his bracket but they don’t go for the legs as far as I know and usually don’t even snap the back of the neck down. And he may have never crosstrained. I’m 45 and do some Taiji and Bagua and sometimes boxing and mma and Muay Thai. But I more focus on going slow because that’s what my body type needs.
I have read that back in the day Bagua guys usually also did wrestling. That’s good and I know lots of guys that are missing that element in their practice.
The younger guy looks to have a good amount of wresting. And IMO wrestling has the toughest conditioning. So trying to wrestle a wrestler is usually gonna lead to a good humbling lesson. These guys are just all up in their feelings.
All of them complain… let them complain in a street fight…
Runs away from student and now completely vanishes from the master... That's some serious bullshido right there, LOL!!😂😂

Traditional Kung Fu be like: We train to perfect body, to hit vital points, to kill in one move. We don't train for the ring. There is no rule in tight situations.
Also traditional Kung Fu in tight situations: No, don't do that please. That is not what I agree. Stand still so I can hit your vital point. Stop moving so much.
I love this guy dares all the Chinese so called master out
Tai Chi? Wait, that's a real martial art? I thought it was just some meditative thing that old people do, similar to Yoga, lol.
I'm a big fan of Xu Xiaodong, I'm Canadian and don't speak Chinese but I am subscribed to his channel. It is extremely unfair the treatment he gets just for telling and showing the truth about fighting. He doesn't want people lied to or ripped off and because of that on T.V. in China he has to wear facepaint. He deserves so much better, he's a great person and great fighter.
"8 seconds".
That is the answer to your "How long would this guy last against Xu?" question.
The Tai Chi guy was full, he had just taken his lunch earlier.😂
Great research. Instant knockout.
I never liked Xu much because he just seemed like he hated kung fu guys for no reason. But now I can see why he gets so pissed off, because even when he shows respect to these guys, they are sore losers and do not return that respect.
He always stated he hated fraudulent kung fu and self proclaimed kung fu masters. There are just too many out there with no pressure testing who get obliterated in sparring and real fights. Then you have the ones who cant fight at all...
He does and still hates them he hates traditional martial arts as a whole and it's very obvious, he just uses that as an excuse to cover up his real intentions and what's even sadder is that a lot of you are dumb enough to fall for his bs
I ike to see you you are fantastice i like to see more of your video is good friend❤😅
The real martial arts is if it's prepared for all kind of style and rules
the saga continues

Oh boy, I've practiced grappling and wrestling when I was younger. This fight would be over in 20 seconds with simple holds.
If the Tai Chi master, had true internal Chi, he should be unmovable, like a rock, at least for a few minutes. Qi Gong, is the internal Chi that iam talking about.
oh so you truly believe that "internal chi" exists? or are you poking fun with sarcasm? cuz ya sound like you believe in magic
Chi as used in chinese and Ki as used in japanese translates roughly to "breath". it has nothing to do with projecting or focusing some magical energy that can do incredible things. as far as i know, every or almost every martial arts style teaches some kind of breathing technique to help with not running out of gas in a fight. this also involves increasing lung capacity through extended exercises that require more lung capacity and lung control than most people have.
