I have to be honest, I think Southgate has done enough to earn our trust. You may not like the way he plays, but it works. He’s done better than any other England manager since 66. 1968-2016 we were 6-12 in knockout stages of major tournaments, Southgate is 8-3 now. I think the obsession with Trippier on the left has crippled us and forced everything to go down the right through saka who gets double marked, finally being able to start Shaw there will change everything (if he can not get injured again) and allow Foden to play more naturally from that left/middle position

Let's be honest, England wouldn't have been gotten out of a group stage, had they been in Spain, Italy draw. They were super super lucky to get an easy group, and even soo much easier side of the draw to get to the finals. There is no chance that this England team would even last 45 minutes against this very good spanish side. They would eat them alive !! ...but I don't see them beating Dutch in the semis too !!

I think Kane’s bad performances has little to do with him and much more to do with Southgate. Are we forgetting how good Kane is. I do agree he should not be dropping that deep but Southgate is the manager he should be telling Kane to push up higher. I also agree that Kane doesn’t have the ability to make runs inbehind as well as he used to due to his age. But Kane is still a world class player, we need to involve his style more into our system. Having 2 wingbacks wich are on the wrong foot is ridicules in my opinion when u have such a good finisher like Kane. As it limits the amount of quality crosses we produce for Kane. So if I was Southgate I’d change the wingbacks to Lwb - Saka and rwb - Trent. And then Palmer for foden and then keep Kane in the team,

Why is everyone assuming Toney should be the striker if Kane is dropped? Watkins is the obvious choice - he had the best season of all 3, is the fastest and the fittest. His running in behind and pressing is exactly what we need. Won't get that from Toney.

That is the biggest problem with England fans and our media - the criticism. Means no balance for 40 years. Rather play safe fitting in players who are similar Gerard/Lampard - Bellingham/Foden instead of dropping one of them for a player better suited to playing alongside them. That way the manager can simply say I played the best players, not my fault. Need a brave manager.

The only issue with making changes is if we lose , Southgate has an excuse if we win he's allowed to continue for another competition. The reason we are in this position is the total lack of a plan between tournaments trying many players in nations league and friendlies, then when team not playing well still not using them! Saying all that if we had one last euros and world cup playing dull uninspired football would most people care
I have to be honest, I think Southgate has done enough to earn our trust. You may not like the way he plays, but it works. He’s done better than any other England manager since 66. 1968-2016 we were 6-12 in knockout stages of major tournaments, Southgate is 8-3 now.
